"Heya Girls!"
Unusual times demand unusual paths. And because this week's online dates in Vienna are rather thin on the ground, you are now experiencing a premiere: For the first time in eleven years, we are leaving our favourite city behind and are dedicating ourselves to the whole world. Watching drag queens in Berlin, visiting my favourite museum in New York, dancing in London, meditating in Washington and checking out the crack in the "Mona Lisa" in the Louvre very closely. Everything online (and free!), of course, because the whole world is in quarantine. Better take the whole week off because you'll love it! Time is also needed for the (cancelled) Jazz Festival Montreux: It has put 56 of its best concerts of the last years online for one month for free. Alanis Morisette, Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Tori Amos (photo), Santana, Lou Reed, Phil Collins – all to be heard live in full length. You can find the codeword for the activation on the website. Well, just like I said, take a vacation!
We can do this – together!

Colouring Pictures by Liberty London
Definitely one of the most beautiful shops in the world is Liberty in London. Founded in 1875, this luxury department store is famous for its self-produced fabric and graphic designs, for which it still works with well-known artists. Particularly creative was the cooperation with the Art Nouveau designer William Morris and the British poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the fabrics are still produced today. To shorten the waiting time for the post-Corona opening, Liberty has now put a handful of its iconic patterns online – for printing and painting. Free of charge, of course!

Vogue Global Conversations
When she calls, the fashion world comes together. Even online. Anna Wintour, head of Vogue and ruler of the fashion world, has launched a global discussion round on "Fashion after the crisis". Using the motto "Reinvention During the Crisis", Vogue editors-in-chief from Paris and Mexico will today be talking via Zoom to international fashion stars – such as Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino and Marni designer Francesco Risso. Fashion victims register in advance by e-mail and ask the designers their own questions. You can also just watch, live on YouTube.

Benedict Cumberbatch in „Frankenstein”
In England, CitySpotterGirl would be known as a Cumberbitch. And yes, I stand by it ;-) Anyway, today is a wonderful day for all Cumberbitches of Vienna! The London National Theatre is showing the sensational theatre production "Frankenstein" as a stream for free – but only until today. In the leading role: Benedict Cumberbatch! The globally acclaimed performance was directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire). Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller took turns each evening in their roles as Frankenstein and as his creature.

Gary Barlow’s Crooner Session
How cool! Girl crush and Take That singer Gary Barlow currently jams with a celebrity musician on Facebook every night. Though Barlow doesn’t reveal in advance who will be joining him at his daily gigs, his guest list reads like a who's who of the charts: Jessie J, Anastacia, Olly Murs, Nicole Scherzinger and his former band mate Robbie Williams (sigh!). On his Facebook page, all videos can be accessed in the playlist "The Crooner Session". With more than 40 songs, that basically makes for a whole concert evening.

Louvre: Mona Lisa beyond the Glass
Anyone who’s tried to take a look at the Mona Lisa in the Louvre knows: hopeless. Until now. For the Louvre has developed an app allowing you to visit the famous lady in person – and the technology behind it is sensational. If you move through your living room at home with your phone, you walk through the Louvre! The VR-experience is free, and you can also find out everything about the painting and its creator Leonardo da Vinci: painting technique, X-rays, landscape, secrets – and in which bathroom the crack in the picture occured.

Popsugar Fitness
Want to dance like pop icon Madonna or R'n'B-Queen Beyoncé? Coach and choreographer Mike Peele has worked side by side with them. For the British online magazine Popsugar, he presents 30-minute hip-hop workouts on YouTube. Maybe that’s not quite CitySpotterGirl’s music generation, but when Peele pushes and animates, you forget your birth date and sweat voluntarily. The Bollywood Workout is a little less wild; all in all there are more than 500 trainings (CrossFit, Pilates, Kickboxing too) with celebrity trainers available – and at the moment everything is free because of Corona!

Exhibition: Design by Nature
She could spend weeks there: CitySpotterGirl’s favorite museum in New York is the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum on 5th Avenue. Three exhibitions have been created especially for the internet, including a show on design and nature. From the late 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, botanical forms abound in art and design. The main representatives of this wave (and often gardeners themselves) were Emile Gallé, William Morris and Louis Tiffany. Textiles, furniture, jewellery, vases and cutlery bloom and twine – and can be admired online for free.

Saye Sneakers
Sneaker addict? CitySpotterGirl can help with that! Saye's currently mega trendy shoe is produced in Portugal, designed by a young team in Barcelona and doesn't make you feel guilty! The cotton for the inner lining is organic, the outside consists of certified "honest leather" and the chic kick is fixed with plastic remnants and waste from the carpet industry. Only the retro design "Modelo '89" is available for shopping – but it offers a choice of colour stripes from green to burgundy red. By the way, a tree is planted for every shoe sold. Cool!

Global quarantine cooking
Although the travel plans for 2020 have been cancelled, culinary travel is always possible – online. The first stop will be at Indian celebrity chef Saransh Goila, who conjures up new vegetable dals from leftovers or pancakes with mango every two days on Instagram. Then it's on to Sami Tamimi, who cooks the classics of Levantine cuisine from home – with homemade tahini and hummus, easy to imitate. At Anna Jones', there is joint cooking online on Saturdays. She makes delicious British pie with crispy-crust or veggie bowls (and super nice food photos). Yummy!

Elfriede Jelinek: Am Königsweg
Now, St. Pölten is not exactly the big, wide world, obviously. But when it comes to theatre, it is: After all, the New York Times voted the play "Am Königsweg" by Elfriede Jelinek in the production by Nikolaus Habjan among the 5 best productions in German-speaking theatre in 2019. So there! Puppet maker and Nestroy prize winner Nikolaus Habjan has designed eerie puppets for the show – Elfriede Jelinek tells the grotesque story of King Trump, who controls the fate of the most powerful country in the world. From 18:00 the stream can be seen for free for 24 hours!

Sew your own masks
At the free online sewing course of the Bavarian Volkshochschulen, you can sew yourself a new collection of face masks today. Because even fabric masks should be changed regularly. If the fabric is heavily soaked through, it no longer offers sufficient protection. This morning, two washable models will be presented in a 90-minute course. The advantage compared to normal tutorials: Since the sewing takes place via free livestream on YouTube, you can also ask questions. The fabrics should ideally measure 25 x 19 cm and must survive washing at 60-degrees.

United We Stream from Berlin
A few years ago, CitySpotterGirl was still roving about during the Berlin nights herself. And just like before Corona, the local club scene knows no curfew these days either. With "United We Stream", the biggest digital club is brought online and into our homes. Until midnight, arte.tv streams directly from the Festsaal Kreuzberg. The line-up provides the suitable club atmosphere in your own living room: The three DJs Kikelomo, Melis and Ghanaian Stallion will be playing. The rapper Booz even appears with a live act. If you have to celebrate alone, then celebrate properly.

Meditation and Mindfulness
Convenient: For this workshop, it will be noon in Washington, meaning it will already be evening in Vienna – perfect for relaxing after work then. During the free online meditation, half an hour is spent relaxing via Zoom, led by yoga teacher and artist Aparna Sadananda. Relaxation coming from very far away then. The stream is not coming from anywhere though, but directly from the Asian Art Museum. The online sessions are available four times a week, by the way, and are intended to help build a place of inner silence in these uncertain times. No previous knowledge needed!

Captain Picard reads Shakespeare
No, this reading is not just for Trekkies ;-) Sir Patrick Stewart, famous as Captain Picard of the starship Enterprise, currently recites a Shakespeare sonnet for his fans every day. As consolation in times of self-isolation, Stewart has taken the motto #ASonettADay to heart on Instagram. We are very pleased, because as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Brit knows the lyrics. But what many people don't know is that Shakespeare's works have repeatedly served as models in the Star Trek universe and are woven into the plot. On that note: Live long and prosper ;-)

Magic Garden Seeds
That’s how it goes sometimes. After a shared flat party, Harald Schreiner and Andreas Poszar, who were still students at the time, founded their online shop for seeds of very special and almost forgotten crops and useful plants. By now, the range of products has grown enormously: you can buy really unusual, old vegetable varieties, herbs, medicinal plants and exotic plants from all over the world. Those who get lost in the wide range of products can order a ready-made set on topics such as "Beauty for the eye" or "Unknown worlds". By the way, genetically manipulated or patented seeds are taboo here!

Sarah Wiener cooks on Facebook
"Cooking, even in times of crisis" is the motto of the Green MEP, who spent the quarantine on her Kerkow estate in the Uckermark near Berlin. Almost every day, the well-known cook stands at the stove in her private kitchen, cooking in front of the camera whatever comes to her mind, completely unpretentious and totally uncomplicated. Whether it’s hummus or Meidlinger lemon cake, vanilla sauce, Scheiterhaufen or wild garlic pesto: the recipes are designed in such a way that even newbie cooks can easily follow. There’s something “housewifey” about it – refreshingly normal! You can watch it on Facebook.
