"Heya Girls!"
What a wonderful scandal! If that had happened today, gossip columnists, side glancers and royal watchers would have been set up for years. However, since the whole story occurred years back, the menage à trois remained rather undiscovered, thank Sisi. Our beloved Empress paired off her husband Franz Joseph with a nationwide famous Burgtheater actress, so that he would stop complaining when she ran away every now and again and travelled around the world by herself. And the very Katharina Schratt (photo) made the Emperor so happy that he built a villa for her, showered her with jewellery and wrote love letters. Sisi held a protecting hand over them and everyone was happy. Except Count Hans Wilczek, who was also in a relationship with Ms Schratt. So actually, that was a menage à quatre, but this is getting too complicated now. To cut a long story short: On Saturday, Elisabeth-Joe Harriet and her acting colleagues provide an insight into the rather easy-going life of our Royals. In the middle of the Hofmobiliendepot, in imperial original furniture, they read the correspondence between the three scandalously connected celebrities. Sometimes we just need a bit of gossip ;-)
Wishing you a sunny week

Platzhirsch goes Vienna
Dirndl are kind of an ambiguous matter: There are times when everyone wears them, and times when only granny wears them in church. At the moment, everyone is crazy about Dirndl – it's lucky then that Bettina Grieshofer with her label Platzhirsch from Bad Aussee comes to Vienna. As part of the Styria spring festival she invites to “andirndln” in her pop up store. There, the seamstress sews, presents and sells her unicums – from traditional to hip, hand-made, in great colours and fancy designs. With goulash, wine and music dirndl shopping almost feels like a holiday!

Blues Sisters
When the three ladies start singing, you’ll even start shaking your hips when sitting in front of the computer. Deep voices, blues in every cell and a mind-blowing stage presence - Tasha Taylor, Layla Zoe and Ina Forsman will make the “Reigen” shake tonight. An American, a Canadian and a Finn: The young stars of the German independent label Ruf Records are one of the highlights of the Vienna Blues Spring. They’ll present both self-composed songs of the artists and popular classics. And the girls even look good. Chain of Fools, Baby!

Late Night Shopping at Kastlwerkstatt
There are several reasons to bargain hunt in Hietzing today: Cabaret artist Monica Weinzettl sells pretty, self-pimped furniture and original upcycle pieces such as hat lamps in her Kastlwerkstatt in Altgasse. And her store is open until 9pm, just as the nice neighbouring shops! The long shopping day is celebrated with nice promotions and discounts. At Kastlwerkstatt, for example, with 20% off on glassware like pretty French-style wine glasses, a tea tasting and a performance of Patrick Weber alias „Patricia Puff“.

Rare Plant Fair in the Botanic Garden
Oh dear, another event where the CitySpotterGirl will spend far too much money! Among all the plants and garden markets taking place in spring the Rare Plant Fair in the Botanic Garden is still the best tip for green-stuff-lovers. For 3 days terrestrial orchids, bulb and tuber plants, truffle trees for the garden, scented and regal pelargoniums, peonies, rare seeds and organic vegetable plants are sold at rather low prices. Even edible mushrooms for cultivation are offered. Plus: The largest clematis choice of the year!

TCM cooking class „Antiaging“
Eat properly and live a really long life! In her cooking course, TCM nutritionist Sabine Dobesberger presents power food that not only tastes good but also keeps you young and, most importantly, healthy. Shiitake mushrooms or algae for example have immune-strengthening and anti-carcinogenic properties. The workshop also includes local food that is good for our health according to western medicine, such as broccoli and cabbage. A fine 4-course-menu will be prepared – preventive health care to enjoy, so to speak ;-)

Währing is not really the district that comes to our minds when thinking of galleries and artistic work. That’s not fair, because the art scene there has plenty to offer: After all, 100 artists will present their work in 45 ateliers, galleries and studios during the artwalk today. The creative offer ranges from photography and painting to sculpture and artisan craftwork. Readings, performances and concerts will provide for good vibrations on your walk. And since you are already in the neighbourhood: A nice and small flea market takes place at Aumannplatz on Saturday afternoon!

Cheesecake Tasting
I’ll fill your inbox with a few calories right now: almond-elderberry cheesecake, chia-honey cheesecake, raspberry-mint cheesecake, chocolate-coconut cheesecake, rosemary-apricot cheesecake, cherry cheesecake. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? The Hotel Marriott invites sweet teeth to taste the new cheesecake selection in the hotel garden today (first come, first serve-principle!) Kindly enough, the tasting is for free, you just have to pay for beverages. The cake with the best rating will then be put on the menu. Highly addictive!

Tanz Baby! Record Release
It is still a drama for the CitySpotterGirl that the beloved duo Tanz Baby! broke up. But now they come up with a belated musical consolation, and a very exclusive one: last September, the brilliant duo recorded eight beautiful-sad songs in a new guise in an intimate living room session in the Supersense studio. And the then produced luxury disc (handmade cover, with polaroid band portrait, 77 pieces à 123 euros!) will be presented as part of the Record Store Day today. Sadly, without live performance, but with a signing session! Ahhh…

The range of exhibitors and workshops of 240 “makers” extends from WLAN directional antenna construction to 3D print or cement decoration design. “Everyone can develop mental strength”, says Markus Täuber and as a brain researcher and mental coach he surely knows what he’s talking about. On the Open Day he holds free short presentations on the effects of thoughts. Visitors may also try speed mental coaching. And since the emotive term “bikini body” will weather-relatedly soon emerge again: mental diet blockers will be discussed as well and Mr Täuber presents loads of tips & tricks on how to change your habits. Pop up outlet
Very stylish, very wearable and, above all, fashion of labels that are not available everywhere – the boutique “Anziehend“ is a nice tip in the 13th district. And since there is an empty shop in Lainzer Straße at the moment, a stock sale pop up is taking place there right now. Women’s fashion and accessories are sold at sharply reduced prices throughout April. Brands such as Evelin Brandt, Barbara Becker and Nü Denmark are 30 to 70 per cent cheaper! The trip to the thirteenth will certainly pay off, especially since they have everything from size 34 to size 46.

World Recycle Week at H&M
Holey tights, single socks, old towels? Take it to the next H&M store! In the course of the World Recycle Week, starting today, H&M wants to collect 1,000 tonnes of old clothes within the next week. Customers all over the world can now give away their oldest pieces. What for? Save the world. H&M has collected all kinds of textiles for three years and recycles their fibres (they give you discount vouchers in return). This way, loads of water can be saved (2,100 litre per T-shirt!!) and the environment is protected. And best of all: Even the most worn-out piece helps.

Reden! We can do it.
One month ago, the CitySpotterGirl wished that more women would take the floor in the new Reden! series in the old town hall. And this is happening now ;-) After the start in March with speeches by Cicero and Joschka Fischer the series continues with the politically charged words of two female born fighters. Ulrike Beimpold presents Angela Merkel’s “We can do it“ speech of December 2015, Doina Weber slips into the role of Rosa Luxemburg who had to represent herself in the Frankfurt Trial Chamber in 1914. Afterwards, an exchange of thoughts will take place at Café Korb.

 Asit Poddar
Varanasi the eternal muse
Pictures of India that are different from the colourful ones that immediately come to our minds now: unlike in his previous works, the Indian painter Asit Poddar, who is hardly known in Austria, has refrained from any colours in his latest cycle – and portrayed his homeland in black ink on rice paper. Varanasi, Benares or Kashi, the old town on the banks of the Ganges as a place of the eternal cycle of life and death, was his muse; his multi-faceted pictures are as spiritual as minimalistic. On display until the end of April!

The Mechanical Paradise
Wild moon dwellers, no longer fresh mermaids, disappearing ladies and headless gentlemen: The “The Mechanical Paradise“ theatre takes the audience to the Paris of the 19th century and the magic worlds of movie pioneer Georges Méliès. At the turn of the century, he revolutionized the silent film genre with his invention of the stop-motion-technique and the first Sci-Fi film. Today, the performance group toxic dreams stages Méliès sets and presents him “live” at shootings. This way, they create a biography of the magician, visionary and dreamer. Don’t miss the magic!

Take Festival
Vienna has a new festival! The “Take Festival for Independent Fashion and Arts“ turns the old post office into a hub of the art and fashion scene for four days. The programme is as varied as is the topic: fashion shows of local designers, a pop up store, exhibitions, “Creative Job Speed Dating“, parties – everything the hurly-burly-loving fashion heart could wish for! In the project “Raw”, college Herbststraße questions the mainstream aesthetic of the fashion industry. Austria’s probably best-known male model Werner Schreyer presents art instead of body for a change. Still hot ;-)

Once upon a time, there were three design fairies that met at different fashion and “Fesch” markets. Finally, they decided to open a store together. The first one (Katharina Zöchling / Zoeca-Jewelry) brought delicate, geometrically shaped jewellery, the second one (Rene Pomberger / Roee-Fashion) provided for elegant design pieces from silk bomber jackets to linen pants and the third one (Olivia Löwenpapst / i wanna-Lingerie) created sexy lace underwear. So far, so beautiful! And if we all shop regularly in their new, enchanting empire in Operngasse, the story will definitely have a happy ending ;-)

Riva Favorita
How convenient it is when the favourite pizzeria is following you to your new neighbourhood! After the 9th district the Riva has now opened another restaurant in the fourth: large, airy, stylish, wonderful tiles on the walls. And, of course, with the best pizzas in town. The menu somewhat differs from the original store, but they also serve extraordinarily creative flat dough – garnished with Cime di Rapa and Pancetta. Baked in traditional wood-fired ovens, of course. The ingredients are always freshly delivered from the city on the gulf. Still in the soft opening period, the CitySpotterGirl is already happy!
