"Heya Girls!"
This week, a cool virus is spreading in Vienna for a chance: It is not less infectious, but a thousand times more fun than influenza. Its medical term is “flea market or bargain fever”. I already feel fleas crawling – no wonder, since this weekend we are chasing from one Viennese nick-nacks landscape to the next. On Saturday Kiky von Rebental and Mara Schatz open their treasure boxes (and their atelier) and together with friends they sell off chic clothes, iconic steam punk jewellery and truly unconventional rarities such as a fully functional Rolleicord camera! A few streets away, nostalgia addicts rummage in the colourful living and fashion jumble sale in the WO and take a break with coffee and cake before hopping joyfully to the 17th district. Here, countless music and book rarities wait for new owners at the 2-day parish flea market. Large choice, good quality! If you still have energy left: On Sunday the shopping fever continues at the cool vintage flea market (photo) in Christian Kahrer’s costume studio.
Wishing you a lovely week

Private Sicilian Dinner at Hotel Schwalbe
The business with real insiders’ tips is a bit tricky – shall we reveal them or rather keep them secret? The CitySpotterGirl prefers the first option :-) The culinary magicians ballerini & onderka finally invite to another genuine Sicilian Private Dining. This means: meet interesting people, banquet in a private atmosphere and enjoy a convivial evening. In this case with freshest ingredients and lots of fish from Sicily – such as Pasta con le Sarde with wild fennel. 6 courses for 46 €, 74 € with wine. The secret dinner takes place in the wonderfully offbeat and charming Hotel Schwalbe in Ottakring!

Women’s film days
Women are strong, humorous, brutal, charming and, yes, sometimes also contradictory :-) And that’s a good thing! Today the women’s film days are kicked off! Until March 4, international movie hits and prize-winning independent films made by women are shown throughout Austria. In the leading roles: many great women with bouncebackability behind and in front of the camera! The Filmcasino starts with the box office hit from Venice “As I open my eyes“, in which the Tunisian director Leyla Bouzid makes a vibrant portrait of the 18-year-old Farah who rebels against patriarchy. Numerous good audience talks & side events!

Fragrant nipples and other dirty stories
Can you feel the rustling in the erogenous zones? Austro actress Inge Maux, famous from Ulrich Seidl’s scandalous flick “Paradise: Love“, is sharing highly erotic literature by authors such as Henry Miller or Wolf Wondratschek tonight. Maybe she was inspired by her role as a love-hungry sex tourist in the above-mentioned movie ;-) The 70-year-old is supported by her colleague Johanna Lindinger and the musician Valeria Bonifazi who provides sexy jazz rhythms on the piano. And the poems about roses and underpants are going to be funny as well.

Second Hand fashion show
The 2nd hand shop of the Vinzenz community in Ottakring has proven for years that lots of things also make us happy for a second time. The shop is known amongst penny-wise fashionistas for its high density of luxury bargains. You might well bargain-hunt a Burberry coat for 15 €, at the moment they have It-pieces by Versace and D&G (pssst!). The most beautiful items are presented on the catwalk in a fashion show today. On board: cult outfits by Loden-Plankl and Rick Cardona. Off to the front row and detect your favourite items!

Stephie Hacker & Lukas Lauermann
When your writing woman is lying ill in bed for four days and is on the verge of a couch collapse, she has exactly two options: to wallow in self-pity or the brand-new CD “You and me“ by the singer Stephie Hacker and the cellist Lukas Lauermann. The latter really works mood-miracles, even in serious cases. The source of inspiration for this ear- and heart-balm was a Hawaiian love fairy-tale, which the two exceptional musicians interpreted in a creative way. Click here for a foretaste, go to the CD release party at Porgy & Bess tonight for the live version!

Upledger CranioSacral Therapy
Those plagued by pain and exasperated with conventional medicine may immerse themselves in the world of CranioSacral therapy today. The soft, manual and holistic treatment method balances head, spinal column and sacrum, detects tensions in the connective tissue and helps relieve them. After all, pain often is located in places different from the one expected. If you are in for a free information and try-out session: a number of therapists open their offices today. For example Irene Kratky in the 15th district, Evelyn Wegscheider in the 22th, and Agneta Iovan in the ninth. Find the complete list of participants online.

Superamas: War and Terror
And once again, the European artist collective Superamas dances on the pulse of currant affairs – with a story real life wrote for them: The crew was in Paris around November 13, 2015 and experienced the brutal terrorist attacks and the shock of thousands of people at first hand. These emotions and fragments of the tragic event landed in their new performance, in which the visible weapons policy of WWI meets the invisible one of today’s terror. You can now watch the first extracts of the performance! With fascinating jumps of anger and thunder steps!

Rachelle & Nancy Garniez
Be ready for concentrated mother-daughter-power from the USA in the Vienna Orpheum today: Mum Nancy is a pianist and music pedagogue and has passed on her love for music to her daughter Rachelle from an early age. And she did it successfully, because the daughter became a popular multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Her album “Who’s Counting“ was released in 2015 and sounds like jazz, folk and New York. Today, the dynamic duo combines Debussy and Mozart with own-compositions, Rachelle’s prominent voice and virtuous accordion plunking skills. Cool!

Fit in 12 weeks
There are no more excuses. When the waistband pinches and the T-Shirts are getting tighter and tighter, we just have to overcome our weaker self and take it for a walk. This works very well in one of the preparatory training sessions for this year’s women’s run. Start is today! In different groups for each level, in 50 locations throughout Austria. In Vienna, runners get off the starting blocks at Wienerberg, in the Schönbrunn Park or in the national park Lobau, for example. Both beginners and experts are welcome, with great tips from coaches. Secret Rosa Luxemburg
A leftist who talks, disturbs and polarizes: Rosa Luxemburg (1871–1919) was an important theorist and politician of the European labour movement. Her untiring fight for workers’ rights is an unprecedented one in history. In a thrilling portrait theatre play, the actress and theatre director Anita Zieher approaches the controversial visionary’s way of thinking – performed in the Drachengasse theatre as of today! Maren Kroymann: In My Sixties
She already wrote feminist cabarets, when most people couldn’t even spell the word. She played cunning pastor’s wives, garden plot holders and the iconic “Night Nurse Kroymann” in the very first (!) TV fem-satire. And, in her own words, she has been stuck in puberty for 50 years (grin): the super intelligent and super funny Maren Kroymann. “In my Sixties” is her latest coup – a concert-cabaret – in which she makes the 60s soundtrack vibrate and shares amusing moral and sex anecdotes. Brilliant voice, great gags, cool band.

Chagall to Malewitsch
The CitySpotterGirl has a soft spot for Russians. Well, not for the nouveau riche luxury faction settling down in the first district, but for Russian writers and artists – from Daniil Charms to Kasimir Malewitsch. The Albertina is now devoting a new exhibition to the Russian avant-garde painters of the early 20th century. With more than 130 iconic masterpieces by Chagall, Kandinsky & Co it covers all styles of Modernism: from primitivism to cubo-futurism. My suggestion: Toss down a shot of vodka and fly through the air with the lady in pink of Chagall’s “The Promenade”.

Female. Focused. Independent.
Those never-ending self-doubts, deep-seated fears or daily stress often are the barriers that hinder women’s professional success. In the body-oriented success training by the Grinberg practitioner and CitySpotterGirl expert Claudia Reiter women learn how to detect their own resistance and to work with it. So it may be useful, for example, to view self-confidence as a physical experience, to use fear as a driving force or to turn negative feelings into targeted energy. The course includes 7 weekly meetings, a first interview and one individual training unit.

Hiroji Kubota. Photographer
Yes, they actually do exist: those rare geniuses of photographic art, who have the sense, the luck and a knack for being in the right place at the right time. The Japanese photographer Hiroji Kubota is one of them. Since the 1970s he has been travelling around the world and captured the most important contemporary moments for eternity – even in isolated North Korea! „Birds Of Vienna“ and „fin“
Two cool Austro bands are playing their melodic sounds into the Viennese night today! “Birds Of Vienna“ perform their instrumental versions of zeitgeisty urban folk at Sargfabrik. Their music somehow reminds of alpine country pop and definitely causes good mood. The latter is also spread by singer-songwriter and CitySpotterGirl darling Juliane Blinzer and her band fin who present their very first single “tales never told“ at B72. Magdalena Adriane
The grand opening is celebrated on February 25, as of Friday it is open to everyone: master-tailor Magdalena Toth’s atelier store, which makes us happy already when entering! On the one hand, this may be due to the very likeable Viennese who has been designing bride’s and evening gowns since 2009. On the other hand, it may also be due to the countless dream dresses –available in any colour (currently lots of bronze and rosé) and in timelessly beautiful styles - which are sparkling towards the customers through the light-flooded shop. Even if you don’t need a dress right now, you have to go there: Magdalena also offers a huge range of premium fabrics from 5 €/metre!

Lisboa Lounge
Jesus, what a great taste! As of now, the CitySpotterGirl has a new favourite desert: Pastel de Nata. Puff pastries filled with vanilla cream, with a slightly brown crust – a Portuguese revelation. Served, besides other Portuguese delicacies, in the stylish Lisboa Lounge. Earlier the restaurant resided on the other end of the district, now everything has changed: the furniture is chicer, the menu more impressive, the crowds larger. Especially in the evenings you should definitely make a reservation if you feel like eating salt cod fritters, Arroz do Mar (the whole sea in a risotto), pork cheeks or tapas. I urgently have to travel to Portugal!
