Mary Broadcast
Yeah, she is on tour again! Mary Broadcast, powerful-voiced, swinging, belonging to a genre somewhere between funk and soul. And she has brought along her new album “Dizzy Venus“. To her, it’s a “spaceship driven by grooves and songs”. A little tip for those of you who now want to take off with her: If you wear a black-and-white outfit at the concert, you’ll get a surprise. The evening is definitely gonna be a rocket since the Playback Dolls are on board as well. The six language jugglers combine German and English lyrics and reconcile chanson, pop, folklore and cabaret. Let’s dance and sing!

Lieblingsrock
It takes a favourite skirt to change your life! Following this motto, the former lawyer Silke Solly exchanged paragraphs for her sewing machine and started up her own business in March. Good for us, because skirts named “Schicklieschen” or “Schlangenliebste” are perfect to step out of line. Eye-catching black-and-white Vienna photo prints or funny penguin patches, pleated, small squared or striped: the funny and offbeat skirts are available for three days as of now in the gallery Vote. You may buy them on the spot or order your size. The opening is celebrated with champagne, of course.

Richard David Precht
His books, such as “Who Am I? And If So, How Many?” are international bestsellers and have been translated into more than 40 languages. The German philosopher and journalist, also famous from his TV show “Precht”, deals with diverse topics from social policy to the history of philosophy – which is also the subject of his new book series “Know the world”. In the talk with Ö1 presenter Johannes Kaup the handsome TV philosopher holds forth about how, in his view, each of us can contribute to making the world a better place to live. Inspiring!

How much do I value myself?
Especially in times of financial scandals and banking crisis it’s becoming ever more difficult to see the positive things about money. One’s attitude towards money has a lot to do with one’s personal account balance. And we always earn just as much as we value ourselves. The aim of the workshop is to create a satisfying relation towards money. It’s about exploring personal patterns, influences and projections. Money stinks or is a dirty thing? Well, hopefully not any more after those two days. Because actually dosh just represents the energy we spread to the world.

After-work on the farm
A short trip to the roots of our food: Are all the products labelled "organic" actually organic? And do farmers grow money on fields? This half-day bus country trip with added value allows for a deep glance behind the production and stable doors of three organic farmers. Lukas Kocher of the organic farm Edibichl for example tells about his everyday life with woolly pigs and what the family planning of his bison looks like. Questions are welcome, organic snacks, wine tasting and evening buffet are included in the price. And at the end of the day, we’ll even know whether a tractor really has 16 reverse gears ;-)

Jan Fabre: Mount Olympus
The Vienna Festival brings another super theatre event to town! Jan Fabres’ mega avant-garde piece about ancient times – including Hercules’ heroic deeds in travesty style, incest, child- and mother murder and loads of animal and human sacrifice – lasts 24 (!) hours. Divine heroism is only pretended in this play. And since the hours-long fighting and slaughter is quite intensive, there’ll also be rest areas and snacks for the audience. Stand-in tickets for 20€ allow for reduced admission to the wild scenery as of midnight.

Casanova reloaded
Showtime for the most famous seducer in world history! “The scent of the women I loved was always a sweet one”. There were plenty of them, but Giacomo Girolamo Casanova loved them at least for the moment and treated them respectfully, wrote smart letters and always kept his humour, even in moments of highest passion. Seems like a busy night for Casanova performer Erich Schleyer, just like for Gabriele Schuchter, who portrays his women. To completely plunge into the decadent seductive parallel world, bring along a Venetian eye mask ;-)

Viennese Bee Day
Buzz, buzz, buzz – about 200 million bees are flying around in Vienna at the moment. Even the roof of the town hall is housing one of the city’s 5,387 beehives. In honour of the busy little animals, Vienna is celebrating its 3rd Bee Day today. Plenty of information is provided at the town hall – including a show-beehive and advice and tips on how to treat bees! Taste and buy honey at the honey market – and very busy bees may even extract honey from combs or build bee hotels. But the CitySpotterGirl’s bees stay at home in the park ;-)

Anna Badora
The new director of the Volkstheater Anna Badora is considered to be very ambitious and venturesome. And so, the radical reorganisation and restructuring of the theatre after the Schottenberg era was anything but trouble-free. In a conversation with Maria Rauch-Kallat, the native Pole talks about her view of a “popular theatre” and about her experiences in theatre life with stops in cities such as Milan or Mainz. By the way, the energetic 63-year-old was also the first woman ever to study direction at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar – and she graduated with distinction.

fresia – Gifts for the senses
A humorous post card in the freshly relocated gift shop in the Währinger Straße reads: “Shopping is better than a psychotherapy“. And they indeed have lots of little mood-boosters for shopping-mad suburban ladies. Especially the range of natural cosmetics is huge: from Sicilian lemon soap to “Old-Bavarian stinging nettle hair water”; nice bits and bobs from spring napkins to glitter hair slides are suitable for home- or self-decoration. Loads of stuff we do not necessarily need, but that make us a bit happier.

Health Kitchen
You don’t need to worry about calories here! Newcomer Christopher Wiener runs his brand-new restaurant according to the low carb concept. Since he ate so unhealthy on his countless business trips as a manager, he now places extra great value on “healthy kitchen“ – zero carb. The menu is also inspired by his trips: Arab hummus falafel rolls, Viennese prime boiled beef soup, Singapore laksa or New Zealand green bowl taste good, but tend to be spicy. In the airy-large restaurant, guests order at the counter and get their food themselves from the kitchen.
