"Heya Girls!"
Okay, let’s do this quickly! Etaro: sheath dresses and pencil skirts. Kindl: creative and practical. JCHoerl: feminine. Zwolinska: from Poland. Emanuel Burger: wow, wild and elegant. This weekend, designer names will be flying all around us. Or, better said, they will be dancing in front of our eyes – because the biggest temporary boutique of the city will open its doors once again. At the Modepalast (in the Künstlerhaus) around 100 designers and promising newcomers from Austria and elsewhere will be presenting their newest collections: from street wear to urban couture to high fashion. Even the British star hat designer Piers Atkinson will be there and he will offer his brilliant hat creations for sale. For three days it’s all about looking, trying on, talking to the designers and shopping. Also, there will be fashion shows every day, a beauty lounge from Kussmund and the exhibition “Brit Chic” by the Hetzendorf fashion school. So ladies, pack your wallets and join the fray.

Wishing you a beautiful week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Craft Beer Festival
Hand-brewed specialty beers with unusual flavors are still the trend of the hour. And that is why the Vienna Craft Beer Festival this year is even bigger than last year: 73 breweries from 15 different countries are providing a taste of their creative craft beers. Even just the names Indian Pale Ale, Faux Pax Framboise Sourbeer or Going Hazelnuts sound like an exciting taste experience! Of course, also Viennese breweries are part of the festival: not only Brauwerk and Brew Age, but also Gegenbauer (yes, the vinegar-king!) are presenting their specialty beers. Cheers!

Sale: 25 years Pregenzer
The drinks are on ice, the glasses polished and the Pregenzer is calling “Come on in!”. The fashion store turns a quarter of a century and the owner from Vorarlberg invites you to celebrate the anniversary. Rightly so, since the boutique in the Freihausviertel has been the go-to location for exclusive hip designer fashion for years, featuring Closed, maison martin margiela & co. And because celebrating together is so much better, there's a surprise for costumers: for four days there is a 25 % sale on selected collections, purses and shoes. Well: Happy birthday!

Giveaway summer flowers
Hardly anyone knows about this: the federal gardens sell flowers on selected dates throughout the year for a very low price to private plant-lovers! These days, spare summer flowers from their own production are given away once again in exchange for cost reimbursement – at palace park Schönbrunn. In order to attend you have to go to the courtyard of the botanic collections. The flowers (among others geraniums, begonias, zinnias) will be available until May 6th from Monday through Friday. Attention: It's first come, first serve, so don't wait too long!

For a few years now, Ludwig Reiter’s super-nice leather shoes are being produced at the marvelous estate Gutshof Süßenbrunn. And that is exactly where a spring market is taking place for 2 days, and you just have to go! Firstly: factory outlet with many shoes on sale! And secondly: culinary goods are also provided: Rita brings veggie food and Eli supplies cakes for anyone with a sweet tooth. Also, anything from honey to soaps will be for sale. And whoever has been dying to know how the thing with the cobbler and his lasts works: there will be guided tours through the factory!

Ritu – Kathak dance and Indian music
Simply beautiful! At the Sargfabrik a magical musical dance tour takes you through the six (!) seasons of India (called Ritu), that exist according to the Hindu calendar. Ragas, which are only played during a specific season, combined with the strong expressions of the dancers tell stories about spring, summer, the monsoon season and winter. Kaveri Sageder and her group show northern Indian Kathak dances in combination with soft bamboo flute sounds, the wonderful voice of Anuradha Genrich and fiery Tabla-drums.

David Bowie tribute with Sven Ratzke
If it was a tribute to Prince, the CitySpotterGirl would not be able to walk down this valley of tears yet. But Bowie was also a great artist (in general, it is so sad how many stars died recently). Bowie fans in mourning are advised to attend the performance by the entertainer Sven Ratzke today. While his show “Starman” premiered in Berlin, David Bowie was still working on his album. Well, and now it became a (even highly praised in NY) tribute – full of stardust, glamor and extravagance. Glitteringly beautiful and absolutely worthy of the real hero!

A night at the museum
Well, this sounds like an exciting night and little sleep: the Museum of Natural History basically invites to a slumber party – explicitly only for adults! The night starts off with a welcome drink, then a live show will be played at the digital planetarium with director general Christian Köberl. Afterwards, you are welcome to attend a gala dinner with live music in the Kuppelhalle. After a guided tour with flashlights through the public collections and a nighttime tour of the roof with a view of Vienna you can unroll your sleeping bag in the huge dinosaur hall to spend the night. Incredibly cool!

Around the world in 8 burgers
Well, this is not the right thing for vegans. But definitely for burger fans. With the World Burger Tour the Hard Rock Café Vienna celebrates the start of the burger season. Every Hard Rock Café in the world grills its own local legendary burger, which represents the taste of the respective city. In May and June, eight of these legendary burgers will be on the menu in Vienna. The culinary round-the-world trip starts in glitzy Las Vegas and then moves on to Honolulu and Athens and Cologne (May). In June, Seattle and Chicago come in, Jamaica evokes Caribbean feeling and the trip ends in Mumbai. Yummy!

Lisa Simone
Just like her mother! Lisa Simone has taken over a famous legacy: she is the daughter of the amazing jazz icon Nina Simone. But Lisa can easily walk in the diva’s big shoes with her powerful voice. After her success on Broadway she now has her own sound – with a rich mix of jazz, blues, soul, Latin and African influences she touches her audience. On her second album “My World”, she emphasizes the importance of family (“Unconditionally” is dedicated to her daughter) and sings about being lucky to have finally found the place where she belongs. Women in psychoanalysis
“So this is the strong sex” – Emma Eckstein supposedly once greeted Sigmund Freud with this ironic allusion. And it is also the title of the exhibition, which the Sigmund Freud Museum is dedicating to women from the early history of psychoanalysis. Marie Bonaparte, Helene Deutsch, Emma Eckstein, Anna Freud, Lou Andreas-Salomé and Sabina Spielrein had a major influence on the work of Sigmund Freud and also the development of psychoanalysis. The impressive biographies and works of these women are the focus of the exhibition along with Freud’s work from the perspective of feminism.

NO-CE / alias Cécile Nordegg
It’s almost a bit mean to say this, but: Mother Putz (you might know her from TV-commercials) sings! And not only XXXLutz-songs, but chansons and different songs from Kurt Weill to Charles Trenet and Bob M. Wagner. Tonight and live you can find out for yourself how talented the versatile actress and singer is, with a masterful mix of concert and theater every song becomes a story in itself. Cécile Nordegg fantastically intonates songs, which were originally sung by Marlene Dietrich, Zarah Leander or Hildegard Knef. Charming and surprising!

Spine, hip, knee and shoulder
Back problems are very common and also knees and hips often hurt. By the way, this is not necessarily an age-related problem, because many young people also suffer from arthritis. Dr. Erdal Cetin, specialist for orthopedics and orthopedic surgery, knows why. In his lecture today the joint specialist explains new treatment methods and addresses the question of when surgery is necessary and when it is better to wait. He will also talk about the reasons for spine and joint overload. Prevention is still better than cure ;-)

Flying Bach
Wooow! A truly spectacular mix of breakdance and classical dance is performed on stage by the urban dance crew “Flying Steps”. Or, better said, not on but above stage – because accompanied by the sounds of Bach’s “Well-Tempered Clavier” the hyper-talented acrobatic guys are basically flying through the air, spinning across the stage or twisting themselves in a way that hurts just by watching. It is breathtaking and has the B-boy combo from Berlin together with pianist and opera director Christoph Hagel touring around the globe. One could almost think that sponsor Red Bull really does give you wings ;-)

Overtone meditation at Steinhof
Michael Misar & friends are doing it out of conviction: they are singing away their sorrows. And every first Wednesday of the month anybody can join the purifying overtone singing at the Otto Wagner Church on Steinhof. The way it works is that originating from a basic tone a second tone develops at the same time, which is supposed to have a strong positive effect. Very fascinating to hear someone sing with two voices! The artists organize a meditation for free which lasts one hour and they accentuate their meditative singing with a few instruments such as the tenor flute, the harp or sound bowls. Very relaxing!

Strudls
Actually it is very surprising that no one came up with this idea before: to open a strudel restaurant in the strudel metropolis that is Vienna. But this has nothing to do with the classic apple strudel. At the chic and brightly furnished Strudls the pastries are baked in round single portions and filled with creative things. Every day four sweet and four savory strudels are on the menu, from the so-called “Alpenländer” with alpine cheese to the “Indian greeting” with sweet potatoes, lentils and coconut curry sauces and the (wonderful!) raspberry dream with tonka bean sauce. Great idea, excellent restaurant!
