"Heya Girls!"
Colourful, wild, elegant! Two beautifiers of the world are currently presented in Vienna and they pour out their rich cornucopia of creative patterns, artful design and artisanal skills onto November-Vienna. For one thing, I’m talking about the most important Austro architect in the interwar years, Josef Frank, exceptional talent and full of zeitgeist verve, who rose the Vienna School of Architecture and the Werkbund from the ashes back then and emigrated to Sweden in 1933 due to increasing anti-Semitism. And for another thing, I’m talking about the Stockholm-based traditional enterprise Svenskt Tenn whose quite visionary founder Estrid Ericson contracted the designer and made the international breakthrough with his unique interior designs. Now the Swedish label for the first time opens a large pop up store in the inner city – with an exclusive selection of “true Franks”. It offers timelessly beautiful vases, lamps, carpets, sofas and chairs – and for the small budget: printed place mats (from 16 €). Feast for the eyes!
Wishing you a lovely week

Plain pop up store in the 7th district
Little table spread you! The festive days are just around the corner, friends and family are looking forward to a gourmet feast – what a fortunate coincidence that the decoration experts and big wheels of everything related to tables, the people behind the online shop Plain, are opening a pop-up store in the lamp shop this evening. They offer beautiful porcelain, stylish glasses, extraordinaire table textiles and decorative items from all over the world. Moreover, Franke Leuchten (besides the usual pretty light design) showcases photographic art from Poland. It starts at 7pm - with drinks and snacks!

Missy’s lazy women tour
Being lazy is hip, wonderful and, besides, an absolute women’s fundamental law! And if you have forgotten how to be lazy, come to the brut tonight and learn from the mistresses of idleness themselves. The cult women’s libbers of the feminist damned stylish porno-pop gazette “Missy Magazin” are in Vienna and they once and for all have had enough of making a career, raising children and having to be beautiful. The professional laziness is demonstrated in crazy performances, iconic video lectures about the flagship slackers of our time and amusing DIY instructions. And they’ll also dance!

Yoga Planet and Vegan Planet
The increased need for happiness and satisfaction on this planet is definitely due to the prevalent world chaos. The vegan faction comes up with raw food pioneers, vegan runners and the latest trends in Ayurveda and nutrition. 120 exhibitors!

Margaret Cho: The Psycho Tour
After the US exceptional artist and scandal magnet Margaret Cho shamelessly and brilliantly run down mothers, sex and gay men in her last cabaret programme, she is now on “Psycho Tour” in Europe. This time she is after racist police officers, insane dictators and brainless terrorists – as usual, in a trenchant and absolutely X-rated way. The award-winning comedienne and Grammy nominee does indeed slip into the role of the dictator of her home country North Korea, Kim Jong-Il, and causes laughing fits. Only tonight in Vienna!

Closing of Strickwerk
It is sheep-heart-breaking and enough to drive you up the wool: Vienna’s world’s best (and only) shop for fairly produced organic wool and ecological yarns is closing its doors. Not due to a lack of success, but for personal reasons of the passionate stitch mistress and shop founder Sonja Hager, who successfully knit herself into the hearts of local wool-lovers during the past two years. On this occasion she starts a goodbye sale with wonderful wool balls, ready-made knitting designs and all kinds of practical accessories! 20% off on everything!

Mela & [dunkelbunt] at the MQ
A hot recommendation, even though an open-air may sound a bit too “cool” in winter: First, singer-songwriter Mela will warm the cockles of our hearts with her soul voice and fine cello sounds in the main yard of the MQ tonight. Afterwards, Ulf Lindemann alias [dunkelbunt] will perform some tracks from his new album “Mountain Jumper“. Cosily warm sounds that make us move along – after all, together with Waldeck and Parov Stelar, the band is considered to be a pioneer of the elegant fusion of East European sounds with modern beats and electric swing.

Iris Berben reads from „Jerusalem“
When she’s talking about Israel, her burning passion immediately becomes obvious: Since 1968, Iris Berben has been to Israel again and again and even lived there for some time. Now she dedicated a book to her beloved city of Jerusalem, in which she roams the old town, describes odours and noises, visits souks and bazaars and meets interesting people. This evening she personally presents her work – a rare opportunity to meet the committed actress at close range and to get to know the premises of the Jewish community in Vienna.

Golden Ages - Masterpieces of book art
When the CitySpotterGirl is not working (or sleeping) she loves to binge-read – literature, non-fiction, modern books and, with preference, antiquarian books. The Austrian National Library is now presenting 80 ancient, rare and precious exhibits from Gothic and renaissance. Absolute highlights: the golden original Evangeliary of Johannes von Troppau dating from 1368, which is now seen as the founding codex of the house. And the Golden Bull from 1356, which laid down the basic laws and the modalities of the coronation in the Holy Roman Empire. Really interesting!

Callisti
A new empire for Austro designer Martina Mueller: After nine years in Lerchenfelder Straße she has now moved in a larger store behind the Franciscan Church in the first district. Behind the bright show room, the new shop comes up with a gallery, displaying the smashingly beautiful and much sought-after Callisti ball dresses under vaults and crystal chandeliers – elegant, but sometimes also quite daring. Other collection pieces also call for courageous wearers, for example the funky, but cuddly soft (imitation) leather creations, transparent dresses or skin-tight trousers. Very stylish – fashionistas will rejoice!

Die Liebe
When a restaurant is called “The Love” and a huge, colourful heart is printed on the wall, the CitySpotterGirl just can’t hold back any longer. Logical, isn’t it? The brand-new restaurant is located in the middle of the recently opened “Marktwirtschaft“ – and has already become the new hipster centre. They serve a generous breakfast (with porridge), at lunchtime they offer two lunch specials (always one without meat) and from 5pm international tapas are dished up – from Corn Dogs to Börek with vegan black pudding. Bright and generous atmosphere, good kitchen and sensationally nice staff!
