"Heya Girls!"
Be honest, how many of you are in love right now? Please raise your hand. Actually that many. (Sorry, being single sometimes makes you lose track of these things ;-) My lovelies, I wish you a beautiful Valentine’s Day! Vienna is trying very hard to make this week extra-special for all couples. The noble Hotel Ritz Carlton is offering romantic wellness packages for two for their spa (photo) – you get to enjoy pleasant partner-treatments or you can even rent an exclusive private spa suite. The Kunst Haus Vienna has a special offer for couples for the recent exhibition – pay one, get two entries. At the Albertina you can attend a special guided tour called “Liebe(spaare) in der Albertina” (“Love(rs) at the Albertina”) and Wein & Co is offering a Love-Dinner for the love-struck. Couples can also go on a city tour and get on the Hop On Hop Off buses for free, if they use the password “Love” at the customer center. And thanks to Milka, you can release balloons with very personal love messages into the air even before everything else on Saturday. Obviously: Love is in the air!
Wishing you a loving week

Katrin Spiegel
An insiders’ tip for friends of soft sounds: tonight the charming singer-songwriter Katrin Spiegel is recording her first album “Moment” unplugged, live and analogously in front of an audience at the Baumgartner Casino. Her songs are poems set to music, intoned by the Vorarlberg-born singer with a voice full of warmth and emotion. She will be accompanied by the ensemble “back to the roots”. The melodies are haunting, the atmosphere is direct and intimate – wonderful! By the way, the revenue of tonight’s ticket sale will also be used to support the crowd-funding project of the debut album.

Nighttime tour at the Palm House
It is still winter, it gets dark early and the night basically catches up with us in the early evening. That is why today the exclusive nighttime tour at the Big Palm House at Schönbrunn starts at 17:00 already. The extensive guided tour through the imposing iron and glass construction starts off with a champagne reception and then leads from the “Cold house” through the temperate zone to the adequately named tropic pavilion. In each climate zone you can marvel at the according plants and maybe a few of the animals living there are still awake as well, look out for anything from frog to bird ;-)

Shadowland – The new adventure
It was 10 years ago, when the American dance group Pilobolus captivated the world for the first time. The TV-images of their spectacular performance at the Oscar ceremony went around the globe. It was something that was never seen before: dancers melting together and forming objects and creating astonishing imaginative formations with their bodies behind a lit up screen. And now there is news from the kingdom of the shadow: other than in their debut performance, multiple screens will be used and scenes from circus, rock concerts, acrobatics and cinema are blended together. Incredible!

Add to it her memorable voice, the melancholic melodies and ingenious songs – and you get a top-class concert. Film lovers will know Hindi not only because of her great music but because she is an actress as well (for example in Fatih Akins movie “The Cut”). Hotel flea market & moonshine bazaar
A very nice flea market at a very nice hotel: the likeable employees of the Hotel Altstadt Vienna are parting with tons of clothes from their own closets and also great things from the hotel itself, like Illy-coffee machines, dishes, lamps and a few curiosities – and kitchen fairy Bernadette will be making fine cakes. And the revenue from the event will go to the organization happy.thankyou.moreplease and the homeless shelter “Die Gruft”. Night owls can then move on to the moonshine bazaar in Ottakring, where you can also find great and unique stuff in a cool feel-good atmosphere.

  Daniela Schmid
Veni, vidi, Venezia!
Already for the 10th time, Daniela Schmid is leading the way to the carnival in Venice. With magnificent costumes, that she created together with a group of like-minded people. Her passion for the exuberant event has a very serious background, because the hobby-carnival-lover has been chronically ill for more than 20 years and carnival is an important source of joy for her. Today she is proudly presenting 7 splendid and absolutely impressive costumes, beforehand there will be a slide-show with music and impressions of Venice – and the food is very good at Koci as well. If you show up masqueraded, you get a glass of Prosecco!

Maurer & Novovesky
Just so you know, the Maurer of this duo is not Thomas Maurer from the “Staatskünstler”! Daniel Maurer is younger, less famous (yet!) and a studied agricultural scientist. Together with Mathias Novovesky he has been touring the cabarets of the country for the last few years. Their new program is called “Jetzt” (“Now”) and entertains with everything the duo is good at: quick-minded joking, anarchistic comedy, funny parodies and a plot about Puszta-Leberkäse, unbearable hotel bar music and the quest for someone named Bertl. Fast-paced, bold and seriously funny!

Cicchetti Musicali
Something completely different: today’s living room concert at the 7*Stern! Because the three recorder soloists Sofia Bartolome-Martin, Marina Buchberger and Angela Lehner will be playing medieval music that revolves around spring, nature and love. While the grey snow-mud covers the streets outside, they will spread musical happily-light spring flair, the songs are about sweet-smelling roses, cuckoos and nightingales and also panthers and lions. The program is simply called “Oh Rosa Bella” and sounds like a great opportunity to escape the everyday life, listen in here!

 Hilde van Mas
Awesome newcomer with an unconditionally honest debut album: today, 26-year-old Rebecca is performing 11 new songs live for the first time, two of them she wrote herself. The album is called “Growing Pains” – which is also an indication that melancholy and strong emotions play a big role. After a few misguided creative steps the delicate Viennese singer with the big voice has finally found her musical dream team and worked long and intensively on her first album. The resulting music could best be described as indie pop, very independent and impressive. Listen in here.

Etagere-building for women
The best and prettiest use for old plates! You look for all kinds of plates that stylistically go together really well and then you connect them with metal rods in order to create a practical and incredibly decorative etagere. But they are definitely not that easy to make, because you have to drill holes into porcelain – which needs to be done with expert supervision and the right drilling heads. At today’s workshop all the necessary tricks will be shown while building one small and one bigger etagere. Plates and pretty rod systems are available there, but you can also bring your own dishes if you want to.

One Billion Rising
One out of three women worldwide will be raped or beaten during the course of her life. That results in the incredible number of one billion women. In order to take a significant stance against this violence, the American feminist Eve Ensler converted Valentine’s Day to V-Day. And she has been calling for “One Billion Rising” for years: in around 200 countries hundreds of thousands are leaving their workplaces and houses at the exact same time in order to dance on the street together. There will be dancing in Vienna as well – starting at the Parliament and continuing on to the Hero*ine’s Gate (Heldentor)!

Portrait photography as it used to be
At the Supersense, the terrific and incredibly nice center of the analogue fraction, a new analogue passion has been discovered: Wet Plate Photography. You can book a portrait photo session like back in the days with Zoltan Janota, who is one of the few alchemists, who still master this technique. You have to expect one photograph to take half an hour and without sitting absolutely still for 10 to 15 seconds it won’t be possible at all. A lot of patience is also needed when it comes to picking up the portraits: because it takes one week to dry them ;-) But in the end you get something very special!

Zara Home Flagship store
Until not too long ago, this used to be a Starbucks, but now Zara Home is moving their first Viennese Flagship store into the noble address at the corner by the opera. Shining brightly, airily and elegantly furnished – with marble floors and furniture made of chestnut wood – is how the entire home collection will be presented from Friday on. On three floors you can find textiles and pillows, dishes and glasses, small pieces of furniture and home wear, table decorations, lamps and everything for the bathroom. Some pieces are classically designed, some stylish and trendy – and everything for the usual Zara-like affordable prices. Very much in style right now: coral patterns!

Otto Bauer
Well, finally the CitySpotterGirl has managed to get the nice Café-Restaurant Otto Bauer into the newsletter. It’s about time! That the restaurant also calls itself a “shop”, is probably because you can buy all kinds of stuff here – ranging from self-built upcycling furniture, that you also sit on, to young art on the walls. “Living room flair” is the most fitting description of the place – and even during your first visit you feel like one of the regulars already. The service is super-friendly and the food urban-international, just like it’s popular right now (adding a little more spices would be okay). On Saturday from 9:00 to 15:00 breakfast is served as well!
