"Heya Girls!"
One in five! Or to put in dry statistics: 20 percent of all Austrian women aged 15 and over have already been subject to physical and/or sexual violence. 35 percent of all women in Austria have been sexually harassed. And these are only the official figures, the number of unreported cases is – reinforced by Corona – significantly higher. However, many women still refrain from reporting it. Every year a worldwide UN campaign tries to draw attention to this topic: During the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, important buildings around the globe will be lit up in orange light until 7 December. In Vienna, the Albertina, the AKH, the Danube Canal bridges and 25 sights are shining orange these days. Most of the events planned for the campaign had to be cancelled due to Corona, but at least the animated film series “Klappe auf!” has been moved to the web. The message is clear: Look! Act!

Wishing you a safe week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Museums and galleries will be allowed to open again from next Monday, 7 December, but a new exhibition already starts today. The art gallery rauminhalt has smartly transformed its large shop window into a Corona-compliant open-air showroom. Behind the glass front, works by clay artist Stefan Zeisler can be admired. As if the pieces had been taken from an archaeological excavation, traditional everyday objects are presented here in a special light: household items consisting of vases, bowls, spoons, drinking vessels, knives and plates. After the lockdown inside, too, of course.

One croissant drives all of Vienna crazy! It's about the fresh cornetti con crema that are always available on Saturdays at Monte Ofelio – because an incredible hype has developed around them. You have to order by phone days in advance to get one of the sweet croissants. It's really rare to find some that are so authentically Italian, after all! If you didn’t manage to snatch one, you can console yourself with the supposedly best espresso in Vienna. Insider tip: the original Italian panettone, which has already been sold out before, can be pre-ordered again. But be quick!

Semi-documentary scenes from the Renaissance theatre are mixed with perspectives on the famous David, accompanied by the music of the two friends and child prodigies. A cross-border pandemic cooperation between the Theater der Jugend, the Galleria dell'Academia in Florence and the Braunschweig State Orchestra has resulted in a film that traces the great talent. Ugly Christmas Sweaters
OMG! In these Christmas jumpers, you could embarrass yourself even more than film-clumsy Bridget Jones, who once stuttered around in a similar knitting monster in front of her prince charming Mark Darcy. US iconic brand Tipsy Elves truly doesn't leave anything out with their deliberately kitschy Christmas designs – from the crazy cat lady to the huge gold bow to moose in anything but Christian positions. Now you can buy the edgy horror-jumpers at a stand at Spittelberg Advent Market. The only question is: when to put them on and who to bless with it?
