Peter Diamond/Andersland
Album cover, poster, clothes: the Canadian - born artist has already built up a good reputation for his surreal illustrations in his hometown of Halifax. Peter Diamond now also gains our attention, because he moved to Vienna. His collection of artwork “Andersland” brings an end to the summer break at the atelier Olschinsky ART STORE. The art illustrator often expresses wonderful dreams or experiences in his artwork or captures current events. “Andersland” shows how one feels when you are new to Vienna – up to the moment when you start to put new roots here.

Just for the record: No, the CitySpotterGirl is not in a delirious state caused by the Alps. However, the current issue of your favorite newsletter will give you a bit of alpine traditional-clothing-flavor indeed. Here we go with the first tip: Pleamle, a trendy traditional costume label from Carinthia pitches up a tent in Vienna for two weeks. Gentian and edelweiss gleam on polo shirts and dirndl dresses, the traditional blueprint pattern is new interpreted and the alpine Flower Power does not even spare the lederhosen. They are called “devil’s skin" and are 100% animal-free.

The alpine traditional-clothing-flavor no. 2: if the Almdudler manager Thomas Klein directs a ball, his guests should feel certain that the evening is going to be shrill and colourful. And surely the most bizarre ball ever since there are lederhosen. The programm: Austrian pop music-parties, Oliver Pocher as a DJ, the Almdudler Hüttengaudi with their wine, women and vocals and also some Disco Hits from the 70’s and the 80’s. “Russkaja” give an extra concert and as an addition to the regular program at the midnight hour, Conchita Wurst glides in. Everybody is going to dance like there is no tomorrow. Attention: the dress code for the night: only dirndl & lederhosen!

The different domains of the economy as a whole will be built as checkpoints on the floor in this brief free-of-charge workshop, so that you can observe and interpret them - so it becomes more comprehensible. Vienna’s first Americana festival
Ladies, get your cowboy boots out! Vienna’s first Americana feast is happening since Thursday in the WUK – six hours of music on two stages every day. “Americana“ is a mix of folk music, blues, southern rock and country music and originated in the 1980’s in – surprisingly!- America. One of the co-founders at that time was Sid Griffin from Kentucky, who is also the highlight at this festival and is on stage on Friday. Today everything is dometic – with “Hirschmugl&Glück“ and “Rewolfinger“ ( listen here), they will prove to you that Vienna is not that far away from Nashville.

What else can Ottoman weapons in the “Wien Museum” report, if it is not about the second Siege of Vienna from 1683? What kind of story can a “ Tora” – jewelry from Eastern Europe tell us in the Jewish museum in Vienna? And which history describe the divine images in the “Weltmuseum”? The moving museum creeps during the “ Wienwoche” into these three museums: without any warning some objects leave their places, texts change their point of view and tell us another history – so that playfully and artistically arises the topic of migration in those museums. A garb furniture
On to the alpine traditional-clothing-flavor no. 3, a dirndl fashion show. And that is not all: you will not only get to see dirndls in today’s fashion show, but also the brilliant upcycling furniture from Kellerwerk. After all this fashion show takes place directly in the new Kellerwerk store, alongside chairs with comic covers, tables made from suitcases, clocks made out of records and lamps made out of spinning wheels. Perfect match to all these pieces of furniture is the new “ Dirndlherz” collection with dirndl dresses imprinted with French wine labels or with the city map of London. This combo is pretty cool!

Crime story night
It is going to be creepy again in the city of Vienna! Tonight the Crème de la Crème from all the national and international crime story authors come together: about 50 authors give the visitors - often in a cozy coffee shop atmosphere – the shivers. Traditional Indian Temple Dance
"Heavy and light at the same time – gazelle and lioness, all in one”, that is the description given by Roxana Vossough about the classical temple dance of India “Bharata Natyam” (not to be confused with a Bollywood dance!). Bharata Natyam developed from a ritual temple dance into a holy stagecraft in its almost three thousand-old history, where every movement of the finger, every turn of the head and every foot pose tells its own story. Fashion first, prizewinning design later! The designforum Vienna drew up a shortlist from the participants in the two most eminent design competitions in Switzerland and brought them to us. Our neighbor land has plenty to offer: they have “ordinary stuff” like fashion from Julian Zigerli, bags by Fabrice Aeberhard and Christian Paul, photography by Virgine Rebetez and industrial design by Carlo Clopath. And then there are unusal things, like a pellet mill by Christian Lehmann. You can also gaze at an instrument that can describe pain. There are things in the world that make me wonder!

Die Serviette
The fact that the CitySpotterGirl is a fan of essenti has got about. Now, the “ lunchtime-master” Marko Godinic extended his kingdom by taking over the restaurant Serviette, which is placed on the other side of the cosy Servitengasse. The stylish arrangement of the “Serviette” was not changed, but they now also cook really well in there. Dry-aged –burger with herb potatoes, grilled calamari, caramelized Krautfleckerl (local speciality) – the philosophy in the “new” restaurant is not having a “fast lunch”, but taking your time and enjoying your meal. It is perfect for dates or get-togethers with the girls!
