"Heya Girls!"
What a nice concept: According to Mexican belief, the dead come to visit from beyond the other side once a year and celebrate a happy reunion with us living people with music, dancing and good food. The 1st of November, the “Dia de los Muertos”, is observed as a huge popular spectacle. For weeks, people prepare for the visit of relatives from the beyond, decorating the streets with colourful skeletons and flowery painted skulls. The Mexican festival of the dead will also take place in Vienna this year: At the Weltmuseum, Dia de los Muertos is celebrated with much pomp. The Mexican artist Stephany Rodriguez has designed a colourful altar for the dead, called La Ofrenda, for the Weltmuseum. Pan de Muertos, sugar skulls and drinks are ready to go. At the Kunst VHS, an authentic La Catrina make-up is applied – so that you can transform your face into a beautiful skull. And at the Latin America Institute, 20 Mexican and Texan artists show “Memories of Life and Death”. All Saints' Day without all the melancholy.

Halloween City Tour
If you're in the mood for a good dose of goosebumps this close to Halloween, summon up all your courage and embark on a special kind of city tour. On an evening walk, participants will learn all kinds of spooky things about Vienna. At the Hofburg, for example, thoughts turn to Sisi's passion for necromancy. The tour continues through the dark alleys of the old town, where the Blood Countess performed her terrible deeds, Vienna's only witch trial took place – and Stephansdom is also said to have been quite badly haunted. Not for the faint-hearted!

Now the Viennese detective couple Fritz Schreibvogel and Hanna Backsauer have to get to the bottom of the atrocity, unmask the manslayer and thus restore the good reputation of the private boarding school. The police are in the dark, so both detectives will solve the case – and the audience is invited to guess along. With a lot of humour and acting talent from Kurt Hexmann, who slips into 6 roles at once, and with free admission (!) it’s definitely perfect for the start of the weekend!

Zelda & The Rosettes
Jazz? Pop? Future Blues? Retro Soul? – Zelda! Born in Cologne and raised in the Styrian province, this little song bird here may only be a dewy 20 years old, but her distinctive voice is not easily forgotten. On top of that, she writes all her songs herself, impressively. They sound a bit like the 1930s but then also kind of like Amy Winehouse. Blues like you haven't heard it for a long time. You can listen in and check it out here or, best of all, live tonight at her club concert together with her band “The Rosettes”. It starts at 19:30 in the Stadtsaal!

In 7 fruit parks, like on the Danube Island, in the Seestadt or on the Wienerberg, everyone can pick apples, pears and pomes, but also figs right from the tree – and all for free! To ensure that everything thrives, expert tree mentors look after the trees and everyone can take as much as they can fit in two hands according to the “fair use principle”. So that’s one way how to fast food! The well-known restaurateur Franz Grossauer has taken up the cause of fries and now proves in Rotenturmstraße that deep-fried potato sticks can taste damn good. In this rather smart restaurant, you can treat yourself to fries au naturel (for only 4 €), have cheese or truffles added to them or make a bigger meal out of it. Then baked fish, onion roast or teriyaki gaucho steak are piled on top of the potatoes. Despite the short waiting times, everything tastes really good here and definitely has addiction potential! And as it should be: everything is also available as take-away, of course.
