"Heya Girls!"
I’ve spent the summer in New York, but still haven’t seen the Empire State Building or China Town. I simply had no time for tourist activities, after all I wanted to try out all Food Markets in the Big Apple. And heaven, there are many! Since then I have become a happy never-full: I know what Ramen burgers taste like, I’ve had the best Danish pastry in the world and I’m addicted to cactus lemonade. And now I know: Food-lovers’ heaven is definitely in Brooklyn and called “Smorgasburg“! Well, it’s quite obvious what I’m going to do this weekend. I’ll pilgrim to the Marx Halle and cure my homesickness for New York at the Vienna Food Festival. After all, 50 food trucks and stalls provide foodies with goodies. And since we are in Vienna, there’ll not only be paella but also Beuscherl and besides “pulled pork” also traditional roast pork. Yummy!
Wishing you a spicy week

Katia Mann / Hedy Lamarr
This theatre evening is all about two unusual women: Helmut Korherr’s one-woman-one-act plays are about Katia Mann, on one side – she was the woman behind Thomas Mann and remains a mystery even to the close circle of the family. And on the other side, Hedy Lamarr, the Viennese film star, who made it to the top in Hollywood, but there she became enslaved by an insane cult of beauty and underwent countless cosmetic surgeries. As different as the lives of the two ladies may seem – they both have a complex character and a strong will to success. Premiere tonight!

Long Day of Flight
Sadly, this is still a topical issue: On the long day of flight, taking place today, everyone is invited to deal with the subjects flight and asylum and to find out more about it in countless free events. In the adventure course “Feel like a refugee“ for example, visitors can experience the situations refugees have to go through themselves and see how they would feel under the circumstances. The Kunst Haus Wien invites to an intercultural photo walk and in a “Ha-Ha-Hasy” event, texts and social net videos are used to show what Afghan and Syrian refugees laugh about.

Normally, the Burg audience is captivated by what’s happening onstage. This weekend the whole house comes up with exciting acts – also at so far unknown places such as the catacombs or the machinery rooms. The entire staff, from make-up to stage scenery, provides interesting insights into their life and work in the theatre. And if you want to see actors such as Joachim Meyerhoff live, just attend one of the scenic readings. Last but not least, the technical staff show their skills in a spectacular stage show with pyrotechnics to doomsday. Everything for free!

Be it a broken switch, a fluttering light or a short circuit when turning on the lamp – all patients with lighting problems are cordially welcome, you don’t have to be a technical genius to make old lamps shine again ;-) It’s also possible to modify your lamps, in all cases the fee depends on the material used.

Ana Curcin
Such a remarkable voice! Singer-songwriter Ana Curcin, born in Bagdad, grown up in Moscow, combines folk, Americana and dream pop to her own, amazingly beautiful musical mix. Due to her astonishing singles “Cut Loose” and “I Can’t” as well as her deeply moving live acts the young artist became one of the most promising performers of the East-European singer-songwriter scene. Tonight, Ana Curcin makes her first live appearance in Vienna. The CitySpotterGirl’s modest opinion: A star is born! Listen here to convince yourself.

Tristan Iseult Disaster
Already the title of the theatre play makes us grin! The Viennese director Marie-Therez Lorenz transferred the disastrous triangle-love story of Tristan and Iseult into modern times and humorously set it in the world of bitter chocolate. Even the aesthetic of the piece is unusual: a mix of object theatre and “physical theatre”. Six actors create a magical world out of five wooden boards, in which the audience is catapulted from one scene to the next within seconds. Interesting as well: the performance was financed via crowdfunding. Premiere is tonight!
