"Heya Girls!"
I would actually like to complain a little bit about the freezing weather, but the truth is that it is kind of cool that winter finally feels like winter once again. And I found a simple solution to the whole freezing problem, a solution that also appeals to my inner couch potato: eating more. TCM has a healthier solution to it, though. According to the Traditional Chinese Medicine, strengthening you kidneys works best right now, because that is where our vitality is stored. You can revive your kidneys for example through 5 elements-Qigong exercises, like they are shown during the workshop at the Shambhala this Friday. Or through eating! At the next TCM-cooking meeting with nutritionist Sabine Dobesberger, the coldness is chased away with a 5-elements winter-lifeblood meal. The central theme of the collective cooking exercise is legumes, which are the perfect energy source for our kidneys and support them in strengthening our vitality. On the menu: lentil balls with ginger-walnut yogurt and azuki beans-chocolate cake. What do you say to that, dear inner couch potato?

Gwennyn
Passionate music from Brittany will be brought to Vienna today by the enchanting singer Gwennyn. Her musical roots lie within the traditional Celtic music, which is also the reason why her songs always sound beautifully mystical. The language plays a big role as well – because Gwennyn mainly sings in Breton. Her expressive and at times wonderfully delicate songs include pop/rock-elements as well, creating the very unique style she is known for. By the way, the charismatic singer-songwriter speaks fairly good German as well and will charmingly guide through the evening. Listen in here.

Her new workshop consists of her helping the participants to get exciting insights into their own anatomy through ballet movements. And it has nothing to do with “plié-ing” until everything hurts, but with curiosity and light feet. With balls, scarves, feathers or ropes as accessories and to heighten your self-awareness and try something new. And you end up finding out: even untrained bodies are incredibly adaptive!

Since the Landpartie-newsletter is still on winter break, this tip will lead you to the beautiful Burgenland. A charming “Earth Market” takes place in Parndorf regularly. There are only 20 of those markets worldwide, because of the very strict slow food criteria: only products, which were produced traditionally within a radius of 40 km are allowed. And not only the products are great, but meeting the people behind them is awesome as well. Fittingly for today’s motto “Warmth from within”, the “ Blaue Gans” will be there and apple farmer Leeb refines apple trees. You just have to bring scions!

Amadea reads Falco
He is considered to be the inventor of white rap and was the impersonation of excessive coolness. Falco always had something to say – sometimes poetic, sometimes bad, sometimes self-mocking. Today, on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of his death, there will be a reading of some of his lyrics that will make you feel the spirit of Hansi Hölzel. Falco would have surely enjoyed the dimly lit atmosphere of the former red light bar. That the bar is actually called “Jenseits” (“afterlife”) is just one of the coincidences of the evening. Princesse Angine
Something unusual for your ears today: Princesse Angine is the international music project of the St. Petersburg-born all-round artist Xenia Ostrovskaya, who lives in Vienna. The band consists of eight musicians with four different nationalities and the music mix ranging from rock to jazz and folk is just as diverse as the band members. The young singer’s voice is delightful, bright and clear, the melodies are as fresh as a daisy, the lyrics deep and full of black humor. But at times they are hard to understand, as they are sung in German and English and also in Russian ;-) Listen in here.

This is someone who knows what he is talking about: during his first cabaret program policy consultant Rudi Fußi guides the audience through the highs and lows of a profession that he knows well. Within the fictitious AMS intensive workshop “Berufspolitiker, aber richtig!” (“Career politician, done the right way!”), he teaches his protégés in the audience how to become a star of the Austrian politician scene. How does policy actually work? How do you talk like a politician? What is the deal with the parties? The answers are very, very evil – no party comes off well. And somehow you don’t know if you should laugh or cry ;-)

This brilliant idea came to travel-loving fashionista Silvia Gattin in Marocco while she was buying old kilims at a market. She used the ethno-woven rugs to pep up leather boots and ended up hitting the right spot for many ladies. In the past, the pretty Abdillah Kilim boots and other finds from far-away countries like colorful Berber bags or Buddhist-inspired jewelry could only be bought online and at pop ups. But now Silvia Gattin is putting down permanent roots in the second district and her first very own, ultra chic store is open from today on! By the way, there are many new living accessories like ceramics and glasses.

Maybe an interesting change of perspective for art lovers: the Art VHS (the adult education centre) in the 9th district is looking for nude and portrait models for their painting and drawing classes. Gender, weight and age do not matter at all – as long as you are over 18 years old. And prominent features are of advantage for portrait painting ;-) By the way, you get paid for it as well: on a minimal employment basis you earn 13,50 per hour for nude model sessions and 9,50 euros/hour for portrait sessions. Tribute to Cissy Kraner
“I would like to smoke marihuana instead of Memphis, I would like to get mindlessly drunk.” Oh yes, Cissy Kraner was definitely never too shy to express her opinion. The chanteuse sang about absurdities and wickedness and husband Hugo Wiener wrote the songs especially for her. Today the day of death of the “Wienerlied”-legend is coming up for the fifth time: the perfect occasion for singer Antonia Lersch to dedicate a whole evening to her. Lersch sings her way through the Kraner-Viennese-universe and performs chosen classics and rarities from the huge collection of 400 chansons. Cult!

Lifestyle in a pair: an interesting local named after the Patron Saint of Cycling, the Madonna del Ghisallo, opened its doors in the fifth district. On the one hand, there are Italian luxury racing bikes that you can buy or have repaired, on the other hand, you can also eat some good food – with a Mediterranean flair, excellent coffee and affordable lunch meals. The meals can practically be put together freely from the regular menu. The atmosphere here: full of light, modern and generous – incredible, what the friendly owner Livia Palffy turned an old betting café into!
