Julia Lacherstorfer
Composer, performer and artistic director of the wellenklaenge festival – it has long been impossible to imagine the Austrian music scene without Julia Lacherstorfer. After performances with the band Alma, she is currently making waves with her solo programme – and the subject is as sad as it is moving. With her popular folk music sounds, the music multi-talent underpins the life story of her neighbours, with an emphasis on mental illness, experiences of flight or omnipresent everyday racism. Raw, honest, different and to be heard today at the Sargfabrik.

Sur Realité
In 1960, Yves Klein instructed naked women to smear themselves with blue paint and roll around on a huge canvas following his directives. Well, luckily the times when we were only allowed to be willing paintbrushes are passé – and that’s exactly what the current group exhibition “Sur Realité” shows with art only by women. The works by Elisa Alberti, Lavinia Lanner and Violette Ehnsperg address equality and the visibility of women artists in the contemporary Viennese art scene. Occasionally even by using all new brush techniques. A cheer for the “peinture feminine”!

Paroles, Paroles ... Darla dirladada ... What catchy tunes! One of the reasons why Dalida's career lasted several decades and why she became a disco queen in the 70s. But she also had a lot to offer in terms of acting, because inside of her it sounded nothing like the cheerful disco songs. That's why she finally said goodbye to life in 1987. This year she would have been 90 years old and for this occasion she, embodied by Anita Eberwein, is once again at her best. The actress talks about Dalida's life and sings her songs – a lively evening with a rollercoaster of emotions.

The lecturer for the art of living enthuses about being lazy as an efficient strategy for a pleasurable life, but is also quite happy that the audience didn't stay on the sofa. Us too ;-)

In the footsteps of the Schwadron brothers
Architecture fans will know the former superstars of Art Nouveau, for all those not yet familiar: the pretty, colourful tiles in the Diana- and Amalienbad as well as from many Viennese apartment buildings bear the signature of the brother couple Victor and Adolf Schwadron. Until World War II, they were considered the most important “tilers” in Vienna with their trade in building ceramics ;-) Today you can see the beautiful tiles with curator Tina Zickler on an excursion through the city centre of Vienna – including a tour of the former Schwadron headquarters!

Since last week, spirits whiz Nicolas Kröger has taken up residence in the Kavalierbar with his Wagemut Bar and wants to “take the stick out of the luxury hotel's backside a little bit” (direct quote ;-). In the familiar Biedermeier ambience, you can indulge in the coolness of the cocktail professionals and sip your way through an enormous selection of rum, whisky and Armagnac, as well as snazzy new interpretations of old cocktail classics. Extra cool: mixing is done on a rolling rum barrel directly on the table!
