"Heya Girls!"
During the lockdown, many of us became lone bakers and sourdough junkies. Yeast dough strokers were also sighted increasingly. In other words, everyone tried their hand at baking bread. One who really knows this inside out is Elisabeth Ruckser. She founded the First Waldviertel Organic Baking School in Drosendorf three years ago – in the historic rooms of the Bürgerspital. And this Friday, the bread sorceress is coming to Vienna for a side trip. At the foot of the Bisamberg, in the Weinhandwerk, she will bake with some of her personal favourite flours such as Waldstaude, Emmer (one of our oldest grains ever) and Einkorn. She shows what baking techniques it takes to make great breads from them. And how best to use the flours in your own kitchen. If you can't make it on Friday, you'll just have to travel to the Waldviertel on Saturday. In the beautiful village of Drosendorf, you bake bread rolls and home-made bread in the basic course. Yummy!

Wishing you a crispy week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

„Executive Summer Club” at Stadtpark
What does the woman of the world do when she finally leaves the office in the evening and is still sweltering in the heat of the city? She goes for a drink (or two, or four) at a – literally – cool location. This summer, for the first time, you can enjoy your Kaiserspritzer on the terrace of the Hotel Hilton am Stadtpark without having to be a guest there. With a view of Vienna's city centre, you may feel like you're on a short holiday in Vienna for an evening. DJs provide club vibes and the altitude hopefully a cooling breeze. There are also little snacks for in-between.

For three days, the Cluster will open its doors and 140 artists will give insights into their diverse work. Offerus Ablinger's works from his current series Trans/Masc, which revolve around the themes of masculinity and subculture, will also be on display there.

Sargfabrik Rooftop Festival
Those who want to enjoy the richly greened roof garden of the Sargfabrik before the summer break, where fruit trees blossom, vegetables grow and bees buzz, can do so on three evenings with musical accompaniment. Everything revolves around the theme of world music at a height of thirteen metres: bassist and composer Uygar Cagli combines drums and guitar with flute sounds from the Middle East. With Basel Rajoub and Matthias Loibner, Austria and Syria go on a musical journey. Sound worlds from Serbia and Spain are presented by Milos & Oscar's Folkotheque.

Community Gardens Open Day
Their number is growing! Urban gardening has become as much a part of Vienna as the sausage stands – and today numerous community gardens invite you to chat with the gardeners. And to look at the green stuff, sorry, the floral and veggie splendour. In the Gasometer quarter you can visit the 11erGarten, the Tigergarten in the eighth invites you to build a seed ball, the City Farm in the Augarten offers a young plant market and the Alsergarten on Rossauer Lände is also a hive of activity. Those who want to can start a seed exchange circle and taste treats from the gardens.

Vienna Prater De-Plastification
Anyone who has ever walked along the Prater Hauptallee knows that it seems to be the private rubbish dump of many a Viennese. That's why the Buddhist Association is inviting people to clean up the Prater together today – as part of the “Buddhist Action Week”. The idea for the action week comes from Great Britain, it is meant to strengthen the common good. So instead of just being annoyed by the numerous plastic bottles and paper on the ground, you can actively help de-litter Vienna. And maybe even chat with a Buddhist monk along the way. Anyone can join in!

Alice im Wünsche-Land
Care to meet the Cheshire Cat or the Mad Hatter? The inclusive dance association “Ich bin O.K.” brings them to the open-air stage of the Arena Wien. Through dance and dance theatre, the association tries to make the inclusion of people with disabilities a reality. The play “Alice im Wünsche-Land” gives a new twist to the famous novel by Lewis Carroll, “Alice in Wonderland”: People with disabilities step in front of the curtain and show a young, bright Alice whose curiosity leads her to an unknown land where all her wishes and dreams are to come true.

Konsum. Ein Musical.
One thing is clear: the choice of products is huge and we are consuming more and more. For the most part, this is made possible by an abundance of products “Made in China”. But do we really need everything that we buy in abundance? The musical “Konsum” (consumption), penned by the wonderful singer-songwriter Clara Luzia and author and director Bernd Liepold-Mosser, deals with this question. In keeping with the recycling idea, musical classics such as “It's a sin” by the Pet Shop Boys or “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode are also brought back to the stage. Today is the premiere!

A picnic outing is always a romantic idea, which often fails because of the preparation in the kitchen. If you don't want to fill the picnic basket yourself, you can now let Palais Coburg do the work for you. If you book in advance, you can pick up a ready-filled basket and take off into the countryside. The 8-course menu is exquisitely prepared by the chefs. Fain
Well, Asian cuisine is not really famous for its stunning desserts. Matcha ice cream, and that's it. So, the idea of creating European patisserie with Asian ingredients seems all the more interesting – and that's exactly what the makers of the hot-pot restaurant “Mama Liu & Sons” are doing in their new patisserie. Yugu coconut slice, dangos, mango tiramisu, matcha cheese cake and hazelnut-sesame praline with sticky rice are all waiting to be tasted. You sit in modern, cool surroundings, cocktails are also served here, and on top of all that, it's also a modern tea house. Vienna has never had something like this before!
