Lylit
She simply wrote the entire Conchita album just like that, but actually the soul singer Eva Klampfer alias Lylit usually composes for herself. With a lot of power in her voice, the native of Innviertel sings about the deepest desires and intense feelings. In the evening at the Sargfabrik, the singer and composer will hit the keys of the piano in one of her rare solo concerts, proving that she also has soft tones. In her lyrics, she now deals with the new role of women in society, sings about courage, self-determination and her own path. You can listen in here.

Light Spectacle at Nature Park Sparbach
It's magic! When light and sound work in symbiosis with nature, it can sometimes result in a real spectacle – and the Sparbach Naturpark turns into a magical forest. Paths are laid through the forest by means of light installations and projections, mysterious light beings appear along the way and amaze the hikers. Didgeridoos resound and a handpan sounds from a distance. Austria's oldest nature park will be transformed into a romantic, magical place on three evenings from sunset onwards – right outside the city gates of Vienna.

Urushi – Japanese Lacquerware
Urushi is really fascinating. For centuries, people in Japan have treated dinnerware, vases and trays with the sap of the Urushi tree to make them waterproof, heatproof or resistant to acid. The artist Silvia Miklin translates this traditional lacquer technique into a new formal language. Found objects from nature such as wood, twigs, roots and leaves are refined by the lacquer coating, and transformed at the same time: nature becomes art. Starting today, the unusual lacquer art objects can now be seen and bought in Habari's Japan Design Corner.

#wohnstraßenleben Phorusgasse
Years ago, CitySpotterGirl brought green back to the concrete-grey Phorusgasse in front of the office with a huge garden project (the legendary “Wiesen auf der Wieden”). Now trees and flowers are growing here – and the alley has been converted into a residential street. Meaning: the street belongs to everyone. Today, the cars are driven out altogether. With colourful armchairs and tables, with deckchairs and seat cushions, it gets cosy in the residential street. You can chat and chill out and swap clothes and accessories you brought with you for new treasures at the Garderobe project's clothes swap. Come and visit us!

Ludwig Reiter's super-fine leather shoes have been produced at the beautiful Süßenbrunn estate for a few years now. And it is precisely there that a spring market now takes place for 2 days that you simply have to go to! Firstly: extended factory sale with bargains, samples and single pairs! Secondly, you can also buy fine things from Lena Hoschek fashion to jewellery and Fräulein Else's vintage pieces. Regional producers will take care of the physical well-being. Grätzl Art Open
A stroll through the neighbourhood always opens up new perspectives. If you promenade through Fünfhaus and the Nibelungen quarter today, you will discover a lot of art. Artists open their workshops and workrooms and provide exciting insights into their creative work. In some cases, the artists will even give personal tours of their rooms. But you can also get active yourself during the tour. For a fee, knitting artist Veronika Persché shows how to create a scarf with a pattern of your own design on a digital knitting machine. Season Opening at WeltTellerFeld
The big issues of the future are dealt with in a small field. Meaning: sustainable consumption and production, one of the 12 Sustainable Development Goals. In the WeltTellerFeld, the complex interrelationships of the global food system become visible and tangible. The educational project illustrates questions such as: how much land and energy do we need for our food? Is there enough left over for the others? What impact does our food have on the climate? How can we as consumers promote sustainable agriculture? For the opening of the season, there will be workshops, guided tours and a hands-on programme.

Civic Newsroom
All good things come in threes! 3 teams, 3 days, 3 operas, 3 locations. You don't write an opera every day, after all, and certainly not in such a short time. Here it's different, three teams dare to tackle the opera project, via online questionnaire and social media they even involve fans in the creation process. The results are then presented in different locations. Today, one of the three operas will be premiered live at the Kunst Haus Wien. The Austrian start-up “Civic Opera Creations” came up with the idea, topics such as ecology and sustainability will be staged musically.

Fotografischer Kunstverlag Otto Schmidt |
|
Photographic Art Publisher Otto Schmidt
Photographed portraits have exerted an incredible fascination, and not just since the selfie craze. As early as the 1860s, this led to the emergence of a (fiercely contested) market for collectible pictures. The photographer-turned-publisher Otto Schmidt was particularly successful in this field, his work can now be seen in the Leopold Museum. Schmidt created around 4000 landscape, architectural and hand studies. His most lucrative business financially – because it was worldwide – was his production of nudes, the most extensive in the entire Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Exciting!

Farmers' market under palm trees
Actually, markta is a digital farmers' market that sells food from small-scale farmers' production via web shop. But sometimes it's time to move to “real” life. Which can turn out quite unusual: For four days, the chic Palm House in the Burggarten will now be the setting for a pop-up market full of down-to-earth, healthy organic products. Bread, fish, wine, cheese and delicacies can be tasted and bought. Vegetables come from the gardening shop Ganger, Camembert from the Milchbuben and pestos from the Spezerey. Neat: you can also shop on Sundays!

Workshop for civil courage
How can people help when they witness insults or physical attacks – without putting themselves in danger? With the motto “Look, act, help!”, the City of Vienna in cooperation with the Frauenservice is offering free (!) workshops on the topic of moral courage starting today. Violence against women has many faces: verbal and physical assaults and harassment happen all the time, sometimes even right before our eyes. But rarely does anyone intervene. So how do you bravely stand up for others without becoming a target yourself?

Alma: Furo:re
Alma is known to be a band that digs deeper and deeper in search of its musical roots, crossing boundaries again and again. Classical music, folk music, yodelling, waltz, polka, composition and improvisation blur in a fascinating way. The five young musicians, all of whom live in Vienna, thus virtuously realise their idea of how folk music tradition sounds in a casual modern guise. The music they play and sing is alpine and transalpine, lyrical and lively, intelligent and entertaining. You can experience what this sounds like in advance here.

The programme includes current films from recent years, from major productions like John Sayle's “Silver City” to film festival successes (often originals with subtitles) from all over the world. It opens tonight at Karmelitermarkt with the Polish hit film “Klerus”.

Bubbles Pop Up
A “ Mindful Party” above the rooftops of Vienna: Sounds unusual and it is! The project leaders Indira and Naomi want to combine club vibes with self-reflection and relaxation. Until the end of June, there will be dancing every Wednesday on the rooftop of the Main Library. At Bubbles, techno fuses with hot cocoa, meditation with intuitive moves, self-awareness with urban community. There is well-founded input on the diversity of human emotions and guidance on creative expression – on paper and with one's own body. And of course you don't need to have any experience!

Clown Festival: Saving the World
In times like these, laughing and clowning around is a particularly important remedy. International stars of the clown scene from the USA, France, Poland and Spain will demonstrate how this can be done and also reveal how they want to save the world. Clowning is fun and a philosophy, a universal tool for recognising people in their humanity – and that means also in their ridiculousness. So from today onwards there will be big-headed clowning in Vienna. The week-long festival opens today with a world premiere of “Three Sisters - loosely inspired by Chechov”. For all those who take fun very seriously.

New shop, new label, super likable entrepreneur: Sihame Aziz has recently started selling her own creams, oils and ointments – all vegan and certified organic – in a listed house. She gets the expertise from her years of experience as a pharmacist, and her love of medicinal plants has always been there. Only the purest and highest quality ingredients go into her products, the crème de la crème, so to speak: rose water, argan oil, prickly pear seed oil. All imported from her native Algeria. Tokyo Boom
Japanese pop culture is really particular – and above all it is very colourful and very cute. Now you can experience this first-hand in Vienna, too, because two very young neo-gastronomes have dug deep into their colour pots and transformed a formerly gross bar into a Japanese world of experience. Of course there's also food – the menu is small, but everything is vegan. From the bowls (such as the Karaage Bowl with deep-fried “fake chicken”) to the NoodleDog. This is actually a hot dog bun filled with fried noodles and ginger – a popular soul food in Japan. Well then: Konichiwa!
