"Heya Girls!"
We ‘ve done it, ladies! The year is almost over. Sometimes it was exhausting, sometimes exciting, but still beautiful – I hope, it was the same for you! Just a few stressful pre-Christmas days to go, and then we are looking forward to a break, an escape from daily routine, candle-light, presents and too much (never mind!) calories. If you have troubles to unwind after all the hurly-burly (like I do), you should do the “small angels tour” on Saturday. Vienna seems to be a town of angels. Wherever you look: angels on roofs, angels on house fronts and angels on places where we wouldn’t expect them. As fighters and dragon defeaters, as geniuses and comforter, as messengers and travelling companions. On Gabriele Buchas’ guided tour, you can experience Vienna’s angel side and listen to her stories about encounters with the winged spiritual beings that are known in all cultures. And afterwards: take a deep breath and let go. The next time we hear, we will already be in the year 2015 ;-)

Wishing you a loving Christmas

Film „Slow Sex“ & Lecture Taoism & Sex
Sex without stress is the topic of the award-winning documentary film of sexual therapist Diana Richardson who calls for slowing down in the bedroom. She doesn’t mean slow-motion sex but emphasises how important it is to consciously feel your own body and to free yourself from pressure to perform and pretended orgasms. Subsequent to the film show, TCM doctor Leopold Spindelberger will give a lecture on the nicest pastime in the world, showing paths to harmony of body, mind and soul. Helpful not only for satisfying sex!

Pop-up Store „gallery on demand“
We already know Karen Gröbner, the queen of deco & design, from her lovely möbeldepot city store at Naschmarkt. Now she started “gallery on demand” there – a platform for young creative folks and their labels. And they have talent! Prettily plain handmade leather backbags come from Grafea from Manchester. Not unfunny T-shirts with the emblem of Austria from aped. And great headdress creations from Sex and the City darling Julia Cranz. To sum it up: ideal for Christmas gift shopping. Big plus: no punch, no annoying Christmas sounds!

Bill sings Piaf
Maria Bill became captivated by Edith Piaf’s chansons already in her first years as an actress and singer. She knows the famous “Spatz aus Paris” as well as none other and has received several awards for her Piaf performances. And after 30 years in business, she is still touring the international concert halls with the same passion and hits – such as “La vie en rose“ and „Milord“. Tonight she will enchant the Viennese audience with her smoky voice and French charm. In her luggage: the newest version of her CD “Maria Bill singt Edith Piaf“. With many well-known classics!

Farewell concert: Goodbye Papermoon!
Unbelievable, but true: After 24 years in the music-bizz the Viennese duo will give their very last concert tonight. In the 90s, a whole generation of music lovers was dreaming and dancing to “Tell me a poem” and other hits of Edina Thalhammer and Christof Straub. Their goodbye will not be a silent one! In their additional night show, fans have the chance to listen - live - to the beautiful lyrics and guitar melodies by the folk-pop couple one last time. And to watch the “lovebirds” performing their greatest hits. Take out your lighters and sing along! Adieu!

Open Days at Femme Maison
Finally: the new collection of the stylish Viennese Haute Couture label has arrived! As of now, we can try on the pieces (and keep them) in the studio of designer Franziska Fürpass. The fashion newcomer once again focuses on minimalistic styles and premium materials. If it was up to her, we would soon love it a bit oversized – but highly feminine and casual at the same time. If you have inhibitions asking for an appointment at the design studio: during the 3 open days you don’t need one. With cake and Schilcher mulled wine!

Christmas Wonderland in „thermometer“
Normally, the 9-person team of the creative and artists’ collective “thermometer” prefers working behind closed doors. But today they are open! At the lovely small Xmas market, treasure hunters will find truly extraordinary design objects and collector’s items: Well-designed office products from Raumkomplett, urban art from Partisan non regular and extravagant knitted accessories from Wiener Konfektion. Very hip: Christmas cards sewed live and freshly texted typewriter poems! With patisserie and punch.

And so we have chosen a third special Christmas market for the last Saturday before Christmas: In her school for decorative painting, CitySpotterGirl expert Beate Wagner is organizing a small design market to which she has invited other creative folks. „Lux natus est“
For those of you not knowing Latin: The light is born. And this is how we ladies are feeling when the great harpist Georg Baum and singer Bernhard Mikuskovics invite to a Christmassy concert evening. On the day of winter solstice the two musicians perform hearty Christmas songs and sentimental folk music. The wondrous sounds of harps, hornpipes, Jew’s harps & Co tell us: slow down - and enjoy a concert evening where harmony and relaxation set the tone. For a musical sample, listen here.

Volksoper Soloists Christmas Bazaar
How original! A bazaar, which is also a get-together of interesting artists. Everything offered at this extraordinary Christmas market comes from the soloists of the Vienna Volksoper: needleworks, bottled fruits, CDs, DVDs, jewellery and pastries and biscuits. The musicians will be present and so we’ll have the chance to have a cosy chat or a punch with them. If you shop, you’ll do it for a good cause: The proceeds will go to Lotte Tobisch’s organisation “Künstler helfen Künstlern”. The recipe book “Kost-Proben” of the soloists association will also be available.

Jerome Dreyfuss Pop-up Vienna
A touch of Hollywood glam and Paris chic is now roaming Vienna’s first district. Or more precisely, the Goldschmiedgasse, where the trendiest bags of the hipster-fashion-scene are currently waiting for style-conscious Viennese customers. The leather beauties and cult pieces are coming from French design newcomer Jerome Dreyfuss. And are casually worn around by Diane Kruger, Keira Knightley and Sarah Jessica Parker. 25 young and wild artists of the University of Applied Arts are now bringing a wind of change and new porcelain art into the venerable halls of the Augarten Manufactory. The subject of the creative cooperation was “Vienna”. In addition to the permanent exhibition of historic porcelain since 1718, visitors can now marvel at the innovative prototypes – as the latest outpouring of today’s world. Viennese charm is spread by: a coffee bean computer mouse, a bra inspired by balconies and a bowl dedicated to Arnold Schönberg.

Panic shopping at violettsays
“Could someone hold a candle to me?” a dress at the back right is shouting, in the other corner a scarf is complaining: “I don’t want to have a dress. I want a pony!” Ehm, no, this is not Christmas madness, this is the lovely shop violettsays where fashion becomes talkative. Witty sayings are sewed onto beautiful skirts, bags, brooches and scarves. And if you are still looking for presents, you can do some last minute shopping at today’s Christmas salon: Open doors for panic shoppers until 9 pm. Huh, this was a narrow escape!

A Journey through Christmas Eve
Which one was the Christmas star the Three Wise Men followed? If that star had actually existed – which one could it have been? The live show in the planetarium takes us back 2000 years to the starry sky at the time around Christ’s birth. This investigative journey searches astronomic objects and phenomena for the event that could possibly have been the “star of Bethlehem”. Afterwards, in a tour through the present starry sky, visitors will see the most recent galaxies in the December sky.

 Yvonne Oswald
Südbahnhotel
Just at the gates of Vienna, lonely and forlorn, we will find the formerly most important Grand-hotel in Central Europe. Around 1900 all the important personalities, such as Arthur Schnitzler, Robert Musil and Stefan Zweig resided there. But after World War 2 and the expulsion of the Jews, the glory at the Semmering was over. The Austrian photographer Yvonne Oswald now captured that historic emptiness, silence and loneliness. In an impressing picture series of empty ballrooms and abandoned corridors – a melancholic trip into the past.

Lambrecht
We finally have it: a traditional Viennese restaurant that also cooks vegetarian and vegan! And on top of it, it is located just around the corner of the CitySpotterGirl editorial office. There used to be a nice Beisl which was empty for a long time – now it has been carefully renovated and presents itself charmingly, exactly how a Viennese restaurant should look like: with a huge bar, wood panelling and large tables. The menu is small and half of it consists of vegan/vegetarian delicacies. Most importantly: The cuisine is excellent – from six-rowed barley risotto with caramelised baked vegetables to goulash!
