"Heya Girls!"
Did you know that the young Ferdinand Porsche developed the car that became famous as the Lohner-Porsche in Porzellangasse in 1899? When he was testing the car, he had to drive it at night because of the large number of horse-drawn carriages in the ninth district during the day. So he spent hours racing up and down the steep Berggasse, getting on the nerves of a certain Professor Freud. Sigmund Freud was fond of ranting out of the window about “Porsche’s damn old crate” that prevented him from sleeping. But I digress. After all, this is not about 1899, but about the current week. And from 5 June, Sigmund Freud's ideas and interiors will serve as inspiration for a fascinating exhibition entitled “The Window and the Couch”. The show combines art with design and culinary delights on 1,000 square metres. Onka Allmayer-Beck has been inspired by Freud to create unusual ceramics, while Noemi Kiss has folded a red Persian carpet like the one that covered Freud's couch. Two dinners with Cucina Alchimina will also take place at the exhibition – and, of course, the art from this pop-up show will be available for purchase.

Wishing you a subconscious week,

Pride & Prejudice
It feels like the whole world currently has Bridgerton fever and Vienna's English Theatre is fuelling the euphoria surrounding intriguing English aristocratic stories a little more: Pride & Prejudice is an amusing dramatisation of Jane Austen's famous novel and tells the story from the perspective of the maids: We find ourselves in Regency-era England, watching the Bennet family's cheerfully desperate matchmaking. Five actresses furiously embody the entire staff of the novel with plenty of humour, slapstick and karaoke pop songs!

Splendor and Misery
After the horrors of the First World War, there was an enormous yearning for change in all areas of life – in art too. Resignation, recrimination and misery on the one hand, hope, longing and the “Golden Twenties” on the other. Artists such as Max Beckmann, Otto Dix and Grethe Jürgens not only depicted the consequences of the war, but also the flourishing entertainment industry and the new life plans of self-determined women. The Leopold Museum is currently focusing on this New Objectivity art in Germany. Very multifaceted!

Summer Salon
The first bikini was presented in the mid-1940s – by a nude dancer, as it was too revealing even for the models! Today, the mini-fabric is the epitome of summer and not always so skimpy, as the vintage creations by Daniela Paradeis prove. Today, they loll about in an exclusive pop-up alongside swimsuits, beachwear and lifestyle products that make summer even more summery. Drinks and fresh vinyl sounds create the perfect beach feeling and, because the rainbow parade will soon be walking through our city, there are also limited-edition harnesses in flashy colours!

50 Years of Kurpark Oberlaa
50 years ago, the “Vienna International Garden Show 1974” was opened and was afterwards established for the public as the Oberlaa Kurpark – still one of our favourite green oases and it celebrates its birthday this weekend. The Vienna City Gardens, for instance, give an insight into their daily work. If your green thumb itches after that you can plant your own herbs or learn how to turn organic waste into high-quality compost with a worm bin. Gourmets can get their money’s worth at the food stalls and DJ Alex List provides the birthday sound!

Queer Tango
Queer Tango is a form of tango that breaks down gender roles and stereotypes. Everyone dances with everyone – regardless of gender, regardless of role – as long as it is fun for both. And it is precisely this queer tango that is on the programme in the Lillis Ballroom today. In two workshops for beginners (solo and couple), two queer tango teachers from Buenos Aires will introduce the first steps of open couple dancing. Dance partners will be swapped during the classes, and in the evening you can practise what you have learned at the Cafecito!

Morning Concert in the Augarten
Fancy a little change from your usual Sunday brunch? We have a suggestion! Because in the idyllic setting of the Augarten, you can listen to a fine open-air concert in the warm morning sun today. In the spring of 1782, Mozart played a series of concerts in Vienna's oldest Baroque garden. 242 years later, the Koehne Quartet is reviving the series and expanding it to include the heritage of classical music that has grown since then. Artist and cultural mediator Dominik Nostitz will be on hand to tell stories – and all that with free admission!

Cinema on the Roof
Summer also brings summer cinemas! The chill open-air cinema on the roof of the main library is open until 15 September, depending on the weather, and shows great cinema – from cinematic highlights to international new releases. Today's programme is very much in tune with the times with “Joyland”: Haider is the youngest son of a patriarchal family in Pakistan. His lifestyle is polarising at its best, as he discovers life as an erotic dancer and falls in love with trans starlet Biba. In the process, he reminds his family of their desire for sexual liberation. Highly topical!

Female Finance
Christine Lagarde once wisely said: “If it had been Lehman Sisters and not Lehman Brothers – the world would look different today!”. Why? Because us women invest differently to men. We are more cautious, take a longer-term view and are less greedy – but would often just need more courage and financial literacy. This is what private banking expert Martina Grusch will be talking about. From saving, shares, funds and bonds to debt, loans and negotiating money, participants will learn all about women's finances today!

 Federica Ferrari
Federica Ferrari
A woman who likes fast cars in name ;-) But she is actually a wonderful jazz singer with Italian roots. Federica Ferrari comes from Venice, where she sang in the gospel choir and was regularly invited to the Vatican for Christmas concerts – but gospel never really became her thing. Her new album “Silencio”, on the other hand, is influenced by Musica Popular Brasileira and inspired by the composer Edu Lobo. The result is a vibrant liaison of Austrian, Italian and Brazilian sounds – and can be heard live today in the magnificent Lorely Saal!

 Olinda Bar
Olinda Bar
There are some bars that women don't like to go to alone – dark, dim, strange. The bright, stylish Miranda Bar in Esterhazygasse, on the other hand, is perfect for ladies – and it has now gotten a sister. Olinda is run by the same people, opens already in the late afternoon and is even a daytime bar at weekends. And again, as a woman, you feel really comfortable here. The ambience is more minimalist and less colourful, the cocktails taste great. But what really stands out here is the food. Instead of snacks, the Olinda really serves up and the menu changes regularly. The spinach and feta dumplings are delicious, and the warm cheesecake has lovesickness potential. And the service is really friendly!
