Her current album “Luz” is a real masterpiece and represents the light that illuminates her artistic path. Time and again, it’s shocking and unbelievable what kind of stuff these gents utter! To illustrate how some of Europe’s leading politicians verbally challenge human rights, democracy, and the European community, author Doron Rabinovici (based on an idea of Florian Klenk) has compiled a book composed of speeches and statements by Kickl, Orbàn, Salvini, Kaczynski and Strache. Four actresses like Petra Morzé read from it today at the Burgtheater. Unfortunately, it’s some very real political theatre, revealing the presence of the illiberal turn in Europe.

Darkside tour at Natural History
Spooky and atmospheric at the same time: at night, the old walls of the Museum of Natural History are completely abandoned and would make for a good location for a horror movie ;-) How fitting then that night owls and nosy people can explore the darkened halls during a flash light tour tonight. The main topic will be nocturnal animals. After the expedition through the exhibition rooms and the Anthropological department, it’s off to the roof of the museum. There you can enjoy the wonderful view of the city and sip a glass of sparkling wine.

Carmina Austriaca
Very exciting! The Vienna Boys Choir brings Medieval songs to the stage with “Carmina Austriaca”, the Austrian (!) equivalent of Carl Orff’s famous “Carmina Burana”. For this, texts by well-known poets like Walther von der Vogelweide or Oswald von Wolkenstein were chosen and carefully transferred to modern language, the infectious tunes were newly arranged. After last year’s big success, the oeuvre will now be performed in the chamber music version – accompanied by a captivating dance performance. Wow! Foretaste here.

Into the Great Outdoors
The poetry of nature in the 19th century: The “atmospheric”-impressionists from Waldmüller to Schindler render homage to untouched nature during the time of the industrialisation, creating a clear alternative concept to the pompous painting of Historicism. The beautiful exhibition “Into the Great Outdoors” currently shows 90 works, from Rudolf Ribarz’ “ Apfelbäumchen” to Otto von Thoren’s “Seebad bei Trouville”. Included are also pictures by „Prater paintress” Tina Blau who managed to make a name for herself as an exceptional landscapist in a male dominated area.

Big private flea market
There is certainly no shortage of flea markets in Vienna, but this one seems to finally be a “real” one again. Meaning lots of old and curious stuff ;-) Even just the picture wall with old (and new) aquarelles, etchings, pen drawings, oil paitings and reverse glass paintings looks promising. Rare finds and collector’s items like big illuminated letters, old valve radios, art nouveau tiles and worn-out vintage suitcases are also waiting for new owners. There are also tables full of knick-knack and many boxes to rummage through – you can find anything from apothecary bottles to a vases!

Originally, British woman Amber Bain wanted to become a politician. But these youthful ambitions were quickly gone when her father gifted her with an acoustic guitar. And it wasn’t long until the young newcomer attracted the attention of well-known producers with her dreamy and perfect-sounding alternative pop. A melancholy debut followed, her songs radiate “electronic peaceableness and luxurious serenity” (critics jargon) – and according to rumours, she will come to Vienna with a completely new long-player. For that she’d use any means necessary. Since his defamatory poem against Erdogan (for which there was a complaint filed), Grimme Award-winner Jan Böhmermann is known in our country as well. Today, you can see the insubordinate presenter and satirist live, and singing: he is on a big “rebuilding” tour with the legendary Rundfunk Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld right now. The plan: to bring muscle hangovers to every last leg of the continent ;-) The orchestra gives a great performance and according to Böhmermann himself, he sings everything that’s possible. “Paleskinnyboy does his job – hits only!”, he boasts pompously-likable. Well then!

It’s been a long time since CitySpotterGirl had such a tasty burger as this “Licht ins Dunkel”-burger. With grilled goat cheese, pears, spinach and a bun of red (!) wheat. But the stylish “Le Burger” has already proven that fast food can actually taste good back at MaHü. Now another venue was opened in the elegant design hotel Lamee. Here, too, all burgers are handmade and all ingredients come from local suppliers. Whether for the California Surfer (with chicken, mango curry and jalapenos) or the Ocean Drive (with guacamole and sweet-chili) – delicious.
