"Heya Girls!"
Now, I never would have thought that I would get grounded again at my age ;-) How to deal with it as an optimist? Put two glasses of wine in every room and go on a pub crawl in the evening. Yeah, I know, life is not great at the moment and the truth is a bitter one. But I still refuse to let a virus ruin my life. I prefer dreaming! Of a better future, a world worth living in, a healthier climate – the art collective “Dreame” is currently inviting all dreamers to share their very personal visions for their city, their country or the whole world with them and write them down on a website. In a unique, international project, the dreams are then visualised by artists and transformed into works of art. These will then be unveiled online on 31 December as well as live as projections in many cities around the world – in Vienna in the MuseumsQuartier on the facade of the Leopold Museum. Dream catchers of this world, unite!

Wishing you an optimistic week,

 Gragger & Cie
Gragger Pop-up
A ray of hope on dark shopping streets – the iconic baker Gragger & Cie is lodging in closed stores with its “pop-up bakery” concept during the lockdown. This way, the actual store owners save the rent and Mr. Gragger can sell his bread. The first pop-up bread is now available in a small shoe store in the seventh district. And anyone who has already tried the famous butter Salzstangerl knows: they spark at least as much joy as a new pair of shoes! Insider tip: Only here in the Pop-Up you can also buy cardamom snails. Risk of addiction: enormous ;-)

Online Writing Evening
Every writer knows and fears it – writer’s block. You sit there for hours in front of a blank sheet of paper and nothing happens. But today that’s over: the online writing evening nudges the imagination with writing impulses and drabbles. Drabbles can be anything – funny, serious, fiction or real. The only rule: a drabble must be exactly 100 words long. Limitations encourage creativity! Today, you will drabble on the concept of “stable zones”. Together with other storytellers, you will put on paper what stability means to you. To the pen, ready, go!

 Distanz Theater
Distance theatre
In the twilight, four imposing figures majestically look down onto the audience. It is a kind of theatre that can only be experienced in this way in the year 2020. Out of five texts that were written during lockdown 1.0, Peter Wagner stages an examination of the crisis in which giant puppets (led by dancers) act as mythological narrators. Live music by the band “Eros Kadaver und Sein Fürst” completes the dense atmosphere of the evening. The successful project “Distanz Theater” can now also be seen online – what could possibly be more appropriate this year?

The Right Words
Well, there are more pleasant things than job interviews. We know women in particular still find it difficult to present themselves in a fully positive light and to specify all their professional successes. Even the dreaded question about their own strengths and weaknesses is often not easy to answer. If self-expression isn’t really your thing, you can get verbal help from Karin Wolf, founder of the Institute for Cultural Concepts, today. In the free Zoom seminar she will offer suggestions and tips for the right words with which you can make an impression without appearing boastful.

 San Diego Zoo
Live cameras at the San Diego Zoo
With its impressive dimensions, the San Diego Zoo in California is the most visited zoo in America. Penguins, polar bears, koalas, and tigers live here on over 40 hectares of land – and the zoo even has its own nature reserve. There is a good reason for this: endangered species live in near-natural habitats here. You can observe them through countless live cameras – even from Vienna. As soon as the sun rises, monkeys start lovingly picking crumbs from their fur and chubby panda bears do some cheery somersaults. When night falls, they put on a stream from the previous day.

Wilder Osten
By now, Joanna Janas has been living in Vienna longer than in Poland. Recently, she finally brought her beloved specialities from home to her adopted country – to a stand at the Vorgartenmarkt. Extra nice (and often organic) are the delicacies of small producers: Chicory and acorn coffee, dried red-cap mushrooms, pickled cucumbers and sunflower spreads. She also has the famous Bunzlau pottery with flowers and blue dots. And to match the season, the delicatessen shop also sells hand-decorated gingerbread and Cracow nativity scenes made of glittering chocolate paper.
