"Heya Girls!"
Since we need an important word for everything, clearing out is now called wardrobe detox. It’s practical, sustainable, and saves money. Because when others detox their wardrobe, it means that real Louis Vuitton-, Gucci-, Pucci-, and Hermès pieces come within the realistic, financial grasp of us “commoners”! For instance this week. “Rebelle”, the online sharing site for 2nd hand luxury design fashion, opens her first pop-up-store in Austria! So it’s only until 11 November that you can buy vintage treasures from little Chanel suits to a Miu Miu clutch. The bargain hunt continues on 4 November at the Addicted to Vintage flea market, in no way less retro but considerably cheaper. Here too, there’s lots of rarities and beauties from the 50s-80s, in this case not just fashion, but also lamps, porcelain, and décor. And another one taking place on the weekend is the Fesch’tauschbörse (low Chanel-, but high hipster style density ;-) And on 7 November, the Autumn Clothes Swapping Party at Kaffeebar Quentin will conclude the Viennese 2nd hand round dance.
Wishing you a stylish week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

 Erdem x HM
Erdem x H&M
It’s just no use – today, every woman simply has to secure a top-spot in the queue at least two hours before the official shop opening hours. The new designer collection by ladies’ man Erdem Moralioglu has arrived! And it’s soo stylish, romantic and floral-inspired that it’s plain impossible to survive without one, two, or maybe even ten of the more than 80 (!) it-pieces.    Gorgeous lace-gowns, flower-blouses, skirts, coats, shoes & co await the woman of the world (and Vienna)! Now all you have to do is be quick and keep your cool. Good luck with the shopping battle!

Never heard of her before? Never mind. For tonight, at the latest, the powerful yet incredibly soft angel’s voice of the exceptional Galician singer Uxía Senlle will sneak into your heart as an earworm and spread poetry there for evermore. She’s considered the “power-voice of the Atlantic” and mixes Galician Alala-,  Capeverdean Morna-, and Portuguese Fado rhythms to such beautiful song-arrangements that a woman need nothing more but a handkerchief and maybe Ryan Gosling’s shoulder ;-)  You can listen to a sample here. Totally touching, heart-wrenching ballads.

Zerum warehouse sale
The most important stuff first and for once in capital letters: at Zerum, there’s BARGAIN ALERT. It’s raining up to -60% for two days at the big warehouse sale of the organic fashion Mecca. There’s a variety of colourful, fair, and fabulous comfy-pieces like organic cotton T-shirts with funny imprints, hoodies, unisex shirts by Einstoffen, shoes by Natural World, and super chic sunglasses and watches by Kerbholz. All unsold pieces, discontinued models and also articles that are unsaleable due to minor defects. Ahh, sustainability can be so pretty.

Vaginas im Dirndl
How was that again with men and women and their emotional and sexual delusions and confusions? If your mood allows for a funny brushing-up on the matter of sex education, you should attend a “lesson” by the three comediennes Anna Anderluh, Ursula Baumgartner und Sina Heiss. With their amusing yodel- and Gstanzl (mocking song) cabaret, the self-proclaimed “Vaginas im Dirndl” make the case for intimate equality in a wonderfully open and not quite G-rated way. It’s about love, sex, sex, sex, and tenderness. Come and join in to the laughter!

Make soap
Especially in view of Christmas approaching this is a nifty idea: learn to make soaps yourself! “Craftistas” will tell you everything there is to know about making soap over the course of two days and you can get started right there with production. They’ll demonstrate the handling of ingredients (non-hazardous to health) and the necessary working tools as well as the best basic recipes for doing it yourself. If you want to include special ingredients, like essential oils, teas or petals, you can bring them yourself, as well as cookie cutters or spread cups.

Zorro – Avenger of sausage stand owners
Once upon a time…is the theme of today’s song- and stories recital with the darling of the audience, Fritz Karl, who invites you on a literary foray through 100 years of Austrian literature. This will certainly be an original night full of Viennese humour. He will be reading from H.C. Artmann and Helmuth Qualtinger to writers of the Viennese coffeehouse literature of the fin de siècle. Mood-wise, that means: it’s going to be smashing, frivolous, melancholic, quirky and of course funny! Plus, the splendid OÖ. Concert-Schrammeln will provide Zorro, zores, and good mood-moments :-)

Full moon night at Donauturm
A great location for star watching and moon howling! Since it’s a full moon night tonight, Donauturm is offering a “moonlight-package” – including elevator ride, buffet-feasting, watching the city from above, full moon-beer or slurping LunAqua. Even if the November mist should prevent a clear view of the celestial body, the view from the turning panorama venue at 160 metres is always completely breathtaking! Additionally, astrologer Barbara Weninger will read the stars for the visitors, so better look up the exact time of your birth before going ;-)

Cyber Security Seminar for Women
These days, there’s no getting around the digital world, job-wise. Today at the Diplomatic Academy, experts will point out what job opportunities women in particular have in the field dominated by men. They will talk about cyber-jobs, cyber-crime, cyber-security and the dangers of global data theft plus virtual monitoring. Great program, exciting speaker! Apart from IT and technology, it’s particularly scientific, social, legal and political skills that are sought after. So don’t be shy, girls! Art from Israel
To approach a foreign country via its art is certainly not the worst way to gain a (first) impression of the conditions there. In this way, you could get to know Israel today! In the group exhibition, “together and alone", 25 Israeli artists present their current works which reflect their personality but often the general living conditions in their home-country as well. The political and socio-critical positions range from subtle (for example Israel Tabakob with his mock idylls) to bold (in Bella Rosenbaum’s chaos of emotions).

Dona Rosa
Miracles do happen! She was poor, blind, and maybe not the prettiest, but thanks to her exceptional voice and her joy of living, the Portuguese street singer Rosa Martins from “Rua Augusta” made it to the biggest stages in the world. The music star from Lisbon was discovered by André Heller for the musical film “Stimmen Gottes” (Voices of God), today Dona Rosa takes us to her world: the first 40 minutes are being played in absolute darkness! The second part, with light, pays homage to her hometown and shows the vibrant life in Lisbon.

300 years Rosenthal. A Legend
Your CitySpotterGirl already spent the weekend flattening her nose while checking out Sissi’s tableware at the Silver Collection. And now she’s tottering to the Rosenthal special exhibition at the Porzellanmuseum as well. But the services and figurines on display there are simply too pretty! Like the breakfast series “Donatello” from 1910 with the super-cute cherry décor or the picnic set with little heart “20:1” from 1948. And of course there is much to learn in the exhibition about the history of the porcelain manufactory founded in 1879.

Christiane Rösinger
She’s the best, most ingenious and most intelligent musician, song writer and author known to the current world: Madame Rösinger. Her lyrics “Love is not as important as you think” is still ringing in one’s ear many years later, just like her „Songs of L. and Hate“, and anyone who had the pleasure of seeing her in the 90s together with Lassie Singers at Flittchenbar in Berlin (as CitySpotterGirl did) has fallen for her forever. The good news: from today, you can participate in her online writing class – High-level complaining! And thanks to vienna poetry school, participation is free!

Schmuck.Nacht & „Running Jewellery“
The seniors of the design school of Herbststraße (jewellery department) are apparently not just into elegant metals but also into running sushi. After all, at the “Running Jeweller(y)“-performance, their cybernetic showpieces are actually speeding around on the sushi conveyer belt. So, this gives you a twofold pleasure: not only can you enjoy the show but also have dinner at the same time. But that’s only one of the highlights of Schmuck.Nacht (Long Night of Jewellery), where numerous galleries, shops and museums and gem-artists will present their works. All programme-highlights here!

You can also expect some heated crosstalk contest at the poetry slam, plus there’ll be a quiz where bookworms can test their literary knowledge.

Weidmanngasse 21
Bit confusing, but the address of the shop is not actually Weidmanngasse but Währinger Straße! That’s where Claudia Nemetz has recently opened her first „Gifts and Gourmet“ shop. She started the business online from home three years ago in Weidmanngasse. Now, you can have your gifts and souvenirs wrapped in pretty little baskets & co directly in the “real” shop as well. For example, fine oils, different types of vinegar and liqueurs that you can tap yourself and fill into pretty bottles, jewellery, culinary things and champagne. Best to keep it in mind for Christmas!

Jamie’s Italian
Good times for Jamie Oliver-Fans! Yesterday, the first restaurant of the likeable self-made kitchen bloke has opened in Vienna. On two floors, you can enjoy the “coffeehouse meets cafeteria”-atmosphere and gourmandise your way through his Sicilian pasta, pizza, carne and dolce classics. Everything from Spaghetti alla Norma to Vin Santo tiramisu is really fine, though the Jamie branch may have a tough time holding its ground considering all the other great Italian restaurants in the inner city. But it’s pleasantly tumultuous and unpretentious here – simply Jamie!
