"Heya Girls!"
My dears, I hope you are all healthy and well. Two weeks ago, we did not know exactly how we would continue, one week ago everything was clear. I have started calling this the "miracle of Vienna". After a few short moments of shock, the creative people of the city, the self-employed and the cultural scene have built a new world for us. In this newsletter you will find the best events in Vienna as usual – only this time they all take place in virtual space! You can cook together at a distance (yes, really!) or have some great fun because Michael Niavarani's "Romeo und Julia" is currently being shown as a stream completely free of charge. For the (crazy)funny production from the Globe Wien he has rewritten Shakespeare and turned it into a so far completely unknown marriage tragedy. Including sex, financial ruin and the love of coconuts. That will clean up any bad mood for sure!
Alright, I just have to say this here once: I am incredibly proud of us!
We can do this – together!

Erik Marchand‘s Kreiz Breizh Akademi
Like the musician Erik Marchand, his Breton "big band" Kreiz Breih Akademi is a musical adventure. Breton music is unusually arranged and interpreted by young musicians in workshops lasting several weeks. The Sargfabrik will bring their Austria concert from 2012 into your living room tonight via audio stream. It will be jazzy, traditional, rock and oriental. It’s quite possible that saxophone and bagpipes play together, for instance – and fit surprisingly well together. One of the most exciting world music projects in Europe! You can listen in here.

Dancing Cha-Cha-Cha
What was that again? Left-right chachacha! Catchy tunes and Caribbean rhythms put your body in a good mood, which is why Beige & Sergio from the Viennese dance school MyDance are now offering free online lessons. The Cha-Cha-Cha consists of swinging hip movements and small steps, so it is perfect for a dancing home-workout, which your furniture will also survive undamaged ;-) In English, the experienced teacher-duo will guide you through the steps today via Facebook livestream – and, which is perfect, you don't need a partner for this!

Swing. Dance to the right
You often have to wait in line a while to snatch some much sought-after tickets of the aktionstheater, but not if the plays are to be streamed. Today the virtual curtain will rise for "Swing. Dance to the right" by the Vorarlberg theatre-maker Martin Gruber. What is it about? Authoritarian propaganda which is roared first by the media. And the utterly stupid imitation of this. To rhythmic, hammering live music the five suits dance the same choreography over and over again – the rock sounds are, by the way, recomposed children's songs. Apocalypse, but a different one this time.

Matiki Bar delivers
Raise your glasses, because the Friday afterwork drink definitely won’t have to be cancelled. Our saviour is StadtSpionin darling Matiki, a ravishing South Sea bar in the 7th. Without further ado, a delivery service has now been organised. The names of the Tiki drinks alone awaken the joy of the weekend – like "Wabelabedabdab", which is difficult to pronounce even when sober. Some long drinks are also available in the Apocalypse Edition – meaning more litres to survive the whole weekend. The cocktails, including ice and garnish, arrive contact-less at your doorstep. Aloha!

Edelstoff Spring Market
Of course, the Viennese spring market of Edelstoff should have taken place "in real life" these days. But if it's not possible, the whole thing will simply take place digitally. The market for young design has gathered over 100 fine labels that have online businesses on its website to support small producers and manufacturers. You can shop for art, jewellery, fashion, culinary articles and product design – from furniture with character made from old boats to hand-sewn lingerie from Körbchen.  Vienna Würstelstand
Isolation Nation
Tonight we’re dancing around the living room table. Or even on top of it. The makers of Vienna Würstelstand are throwing the first Vienna-in-quarantine party. In an empty Viennese club, big DJs like "Heimlich", "Merkwürdig" and "Zuckerwatt" will play until 4:00 am for the audience at home. (A contactless bar on wheels provides for the appropriate catering.) Joining in is possible via YouTube stream on your TV or laptop. But of course the same applies here, too: Celebrate alone or only with people from your household! A big home party will not take place again for another month or so.

Earth Hour “Lights Out” Campaign
Time to quickly stock up on candles! Because from 20:30 to 21:30 the lights are out! The WWF is once again calling for the world's largest participatory climate protection campaign. And since, apart from the dubious Donald Trump, every child has understood that it can’t go on like this with the hole in the ozone layer, glacier shrinkage and so on, a joint effort is being made today to set an example and save energy. In Vienna, besides private houses, many landmarks such as Schönbrunn Palace, the Rathaus, the Hofburg and the Belvedere remain dark. Around the world, the lights will be going out.

You simply download the app "KHM Stories" to your mobile phone for free and then you can choose between 10 tours, each lasting about an hour. “Bodies Unlimited" is all about the body, but the programme also includes sustainability, tragic love stories and magic (including dangerous root demons).

Live cooking with Claudia Nichterl
Kind of unbelievable what creative actions such a small, strange virus can cause in Vienna! The well-known nutritionist Claudia Nichterl is currently cooking her lunch (with a focus on TCM) live on Facebook, Instagram and Zoom every day. Today, potato-vegetable casserole is on the menu – and watching it you almost feel like you are standing in the kitchen with a friend. In a conversational tone, Nichterl guides you through the individual steps and is also happy to answer questions. Shopping lists and recipes will be sent automatically after registration.

 Filmarchiv Austria
Newsreels from 1946
A domestic alternative to the evening Netflix documentary: For history nerds, the Filmarchiv Austria now brings a special piece of contemporary history to our computers. 75 years after the Second World War, the Filmarchiv publishes a new annual edition every week, with highlights from the once famous weekly cinema Wochenschau (newsreel). These were filmed by the Allies at the time, and this week (starting on Friday) they kick off with the year 1946. The newsreels ran before the main film and were (before the invention of TV) the most important audiovisual news medium then.

Strengthen the immune system
The immune system is a rather abstract term. Nothing to be touched. That's why nutritionist, personal trainer and book author Alina Leitinger would like to explain the subject in a free Zoom meeting this evening and provide some answers to your many questions. The event is accompanied by a test for self-reflection as download. It is intended to help the participants assess what is beneficial for themselves and their well-being. And she will provide tips on how you can strengthen your immune system during this time and beyond. After registration, the zoom link will be sent to you by e-mail.

Drama Carbonara
When the mood tanks, there’s one remedy that always helps: chatting with your best friends and laughing heartily about dates and bizarre relationship episodes. The comedy podcast "Drama Carbonara" by Asta, Jasna and Tatjana is very similar. The three women read "great destinies" from penny dreadfuls and cheap books every few days –and don't skimp on commentary, drowned in a lot of prosecco. The episodes "So much for a film career –it was porn!" and "Where did this guy come from?" ironically sound as if taken from real life. Love-madness with climaxes to crack you up.

Shark Tank Live
The elderly among us may remember: once upon a time there was a TV station that broadcast pictures of a fire in the fireplace all night long. Something similar is also available for corona-damaged couch potatoes now, just in the 21st century version: 24 hours a day the Haus des Meeres broadcasts live pictures from their shark tank. And interestingly enough it’s actually really relaxing ;-) From two different angles you can watch a lot of exotic fish swimming around in the 300.000 litre tank, and the sharks, too, put in an appearance in front of the camera every now and then.

 Gärtnerei Ganger
Young plants at Garden Centre Ganger

And that's why the sale of summer flowers and vegetables and plants in the farm shop of the Ganger gardener's starts today without any restrictions. Fortunately, as a local supplier, one is allowed to keep open and the farmers' market is also still open. Organic seeds and tubers are available for burying, balcony connoisseurs will find plenty of balcony plants there, which you can then proudly watch grow. Shop of the Week
Tipps der Stadtspionin
Normally, people like us can’t shop at the Großgrünmarkt in Inzersorf. On an area almost as big as Vatican City, a lot of restaurants buy their groceries at zero dark thirty in the morning. But now they stay away. So it's perfect that the Hocking retailer now also supplies households. The boxes contain a fixed set of vegetables and fruit, which wherever possible come from Vienna and the surrounding area. Those who order by e-mail before 18:00 will have their vitamins delivered to their doorstep by 14:00 the next day. The supplier announces himself by telephone shortly before arrival.

Actually, CitySpotterGirl has always wanted to write about this gem at Meidlinger Markt: probably the smallest confectionery in Vienna with that adorable name. Normally, you stand there in front of the glass counter and have to decide between cheesecake, almond croissants, the apple pie Don Roberto and Madame Claudette. Now it's different: with the motto "Hard times require sweet measures" the whole of Vienna is supplied with cakes and tarts. (And bread from the market is also taken.) It works so well that they were able to bring back all employees from short-work.
