Sale at Schuhe für Frauen
The fast-moving fashion reality looks like this: shops have bought springy shoes, but by the time they are allowed to open again, it will already be sandal time! In order to get them on the feet and to the women in time, “Schuhe für Frauen” is now selling some selected low shoes at special offer prices. Ballerinas by “arche” in a shimmering metallic look, super-comfortable sandals by Wolkenwerk in rainbow colours and striped “Bensimon” shoes, a French retro classic, are up to 30 percent off. They are valid for order until the (preliminary) end of the extended lockdown.

Sigrid Horn
In 2019 she won the protest song contest, and the Falter counts her current album among the 50 most important Austropop albums of the last 50 years. Sigrid Horn sings in a dialect that cannot be clearly identified and accompanies herself with ukulele or piano – a powerful voice, poignant and clear as a bell. Her concert in the “Gleis 21” cultural space has already had to be postponed twice, so today her performance will be moved online and streamed live. The dialect art (pop) songs are often of shocking depth and then again of astonishing lightness. Lyrics from real life!

TCM Course: The Female Menstruation
It is well known that menstruation is a topic close to CitySpotterGirl’s heart – after all, she wrote a wonderful book about it called “Buch der Tage”. The TCM philosophy also has a very nice approach to it: menstruation is called “moon water” and is seen as a natural cycle – quite the opposite of the West, where menstruation is often perceived as a nuisance. In a Zoom workshop today, TCM nutritionist Petra Pfann explains the cycle phases from the perspective of Yin and Yang and gives tips on how to deal with discomforts. There is also room for personal questions.

Moments of Love
Nothing is as inspiring as the strongest feeling in the world: love! Whether happy, secret or unrequited. Today, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt is celebrating great moments and love in pictures via Zoom – it is famous worldwide for its important collection, with lots of Rembrandts, Van Goghs and Picassos hanging here. For the 90-minute romance session, the artworks are staged interactively and multimedia-based with music, film clips and a quiz. It shows how love is lived in many different ways, what surprising turns it takes and how it can even endure beyond death.

Diane von Fürstenberg x H&M Home
CitySpotterGirl is setting up a second office right now (will take some more time, so we won't reveal it yet) – and is glad about every affordable design gem. Like the home collection by fashion queen Diane von Fürstenberg, which is now available online at H&M Home. The 31-piece collection includes home décor and pretty things for your home, with lots of animal prints, black and white and shades of red, as always with Fürstenberg. Key pieces include double-sided wool blankets, lacquered trays and elegantly decorative printed boxes for storing glamorous treasures. Nice!

Book presentation: Riot, don’t diet!
Revolt of the unruly bodies! Elisabeth Lechner's book is a call to break with traditional ideals of beauty. Because toxic norms, false role models, and the commercial compulsion to self-optimisation are a business from which others profit at our expense. Lechner not only dismantles certain common prejudices, but also presents an encouraging 5-point plan on what real solidarity could look like and how we can question our concept of “beauty”. You can join the rebellion today during the online presentation of the book via Facebook.

Landtmann’s Original Cake Market
A Corona interim solution for all those with a sweet tooth ;-) As we all know, the restaurants will remain closed for a while longer and the Gastgärten are not allowed to open either. But Café Landtmann didn't want to remain idle and has moved a few chairs and tables around: for dessert shopping, a small cake market is set up on the terrace every Saturday and Sunday. Between guglhupf, strawberry stanitzel and fresh croissants, pastry chefs fill strawberry bowls with fluffy mousse live to be devoured immediately. The favourite cake, sweet stuff or cake boxes (5+1 free) are available as take-away.

Together is Better
Good vibes for a good cause! The music festival is streaming live from three stages in a London hotel today, and you can watch from anywhere in the world. Between acts from folk, world music, techno, Arabic pop and Afro pop, stories of refugees will be told – and all proceeds will go to refugee organisations, as well. The diverse line-up: “Zap Mama” is a fusion of hip-hop and African song, Michele Adamson plays cheery dance music, and folk singer Ayla Schafer sings poetry. Simply register and choose your ticket, depending on how much you would like to donate.

Route Planner to Street Art
If you fancy some fresh air, you can now try out Wien Museum’s route planner: The free online guide leads to 33 colourful murals (i.e. large street art works), which are spread all over the 15th district. From the Westbahnhof station, the two-hour tour first leads to the “Rotating Wall”: always exciting to look at, as the area is constantly being redesigned. Head up in Reindorfgasse: a cat hides on the underside of the eaves and a few steps further you find decorated house walls. The walls on Schwendermarkt are almost an outdoor gallery – every metre a new work of art.

Franzi Kreis |

Father Earth
Mothers and daughters were the focus of “Finding Motherland”, now artist Franzi Kreis is taking a look at men. 35 sons told her the stories of their fathers for “Father Earth”, and a photo was taken afterwards. The pictures and audio recordings (bring headphones!) are on display as a multimedia travelling exhibition in an empty venue in the 15th district – until 30 April at Henriettenplatz. The unique life stories were collected by Kreis all over Austria: Stories from Caribbean beaches, Stalingrad or a prison near Tehran. Might pull on your heartstrings!

mumok architecture from the outside
For once, the mumok deals not with art, but with itself. More precisely: with its building and its architecture from the outside. In the online series “Gemeinsam Live”, Mikki Muhr and Patrick Puls will be giving a tour of the architecturally unusual building in the MQ via Facebook. The striking lava stone façade makes the building look like a monolith, after all, and through the window slits, at the right angle, it looks as if the prow of a ship is emerging from the depths. Hidden, not-so-obvious details and exciting facets are revealed on today's professional guided tour.

Little Rosies Kindergarten
A 13-piece band without a leader creates chaos – one that is great to listen to! The jazz collective “Little Rosies Kindergarten” is young and their genre is “psychedelic” jazz: dark timbres, groovy improvisation and playful breaks in style. Live in the free video stream from the Radiokulturhaus today they play their latest album, a particularly haunting piece is “ Dem großen Inspirator”: The lonely plucking on the cello creates great tension until more and more instruments join in: violin, piano, female vocals – then the break when saxophones and trumpet go wild.

„Auf Wiedersehen, Kinder!”
It was an adventurous life: it's very impressive how Ernst Papanek gave hundreds of Jewish refugee children a home in shelters near Paris more than 80 years ago and saved not only their lives but also their souls with his revolutionary reform pedagogy. CitySpotterGirl's daughter Lilly Maier, by now an author and historian, has created an impressive memorial to the forgotten Viennese and will be reading from her work online today. An immensely optimistic book that shows that with courage, dignity and love you can totally “just go save the world” after all!

Meditative Qigong
Strength trickling through the fingers like sand: Qigong combines slow exercises with conscious breathing and directs the energy flow back into the right channels. Used regularly, this Far Eastern technique is like anti-stress training ;-) The weekly session with coach Michael Funovich from Scatach, who gives Zoom classes on Wednesdays, is ideal for this. In silence, flowing, almost dance-like movements are performed, the body gradually relaxes and harmony returns to the mind. The effect: Yin and Yang are balanced and the stressed find inner peace.

Feschmarkt |

Fesch’Markt Deli
Due to Corona, the new interpretation of the Fesch'Markt was brought to life rather spontaneously. At the “Deli”, on the forecourt of the Palais Liechtenstein, you will meet, as always, smart producers, but this time only from the areas of delicacies, flowers, food and agriculture. With the urban market in a small setting (and with free admission), the aim is to support the urban community, which is having a rather hard time at the moment due to the Corona crisis! Although outdoors, the market takes place in all weathers – so please wish for sunshine.

Servicebob vending machine supermarket
Never before has a “Shop of the Week” had so little atmosphere – which is superfluous for emergencies, though ;-) Servicebob looks like a casino when you enter, but the vending machines are really a winner – especially for night owls and Sunday shoppers. The vending machine supermarket offers basic foodstuffs 24/7, a large selection of beverages and specialities for meat eaters: bison loin and Wagyu beef, for example, which is popular with gourmets. Works like this: select products at the main computer, pay (cash/card) and the respective machine dispenses everything – very gently, so nothing gets broken.

Teeamo
That's how it is with trends: they pop up, disappear – and then they are suddenly back again! This is now also true for bubble tea. After 14 German cities, the first “Teeamo” branch has now opened in Vienna and is making tapioca pearls popular again: the walls of the mini-shop are greened and the ingredients are also fresh. With the typical Japanese Milk Tea, everyone decides for themselves how sweet they like it to be, and the Pure Tea even gets a quark topping with the Chezzo Topping. Individualists can put together a creation entirely according to their own preferences. May be fruity fresh and sinfully sweet.
