"Heya Girls!"
Well, I never would have dreamed that I’d ever repair Yoko Ono’s broken coffee cups. Or that I’d get to send her my personal wishes as “Wish Tree” messages that will be hung in trees. But both things (and much more) are now possible: at the new exhibition “„Duett mit Künstler_in“ at 21er Haus! 28 exciting works by international performance artists invite you to intellectual and physical interaction. It’s appealing and feels confrontational-weird to amusing-rewarding, depending on story and intention. Already with his entrance, Pierre Huyghe provokes embarrassing spontaneous behaviour, Fluxus-master Joseph Beuys transforms everyone into a society framer with his “artwork of thinking and of language”. And Christine Hill sells strange, “aproned” role models in her XXL-shop. Besides, ping-pong will be played, the way is picturesquely told, and stands are (re) built. Since the 50s, performance art hasn’t been this much fun!

Wishing you a fun week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

The Coronas
Musical mood boosters for rainy autumn days in the way of cute Irish guys, who sing really beautifully! “The Coronas”, no nobodies back home and current chart-stormers, have released their fifth album after a bit of a break. The fans of the band are reportedly used to good sing-along material, but in their new release, they Dubliners have quite changed their tune and sound more mature – melodic pop, atmospherically dense, and accompanied by exuberant electronics. Today, live at Reigen – have a pretty singing Irish guy while you wait, here ;-)

Nice new symbiosis on Kettenbrückengasse! Lu-design lady Ursula Lidy has joined (knit)-designer Dörte Kaufmann. The store and the concept have been changed slightly, they only sell accessories now – soft wool caps and delicate knitwear by Dörte Kaumann and cool backpacks as well as bags by Ursula Lidy. The only clothes available are for tiddlers by the Label “Zum Glück geboren”, which can also be found there. Today, they celebrate the opening with Prosecco and performance, which gives ladies the chance to check out the new collections. Chicchic!

“Blaue Innovationen”
CitySpotterGirl has been a huge fan of indigo blueprinting for ages! Which is demonstrated by the tons of blue-white couture-skirts, traditional costume-blouses and everyday-accessories that she’s carrying on and around. Now the ancient handicraft-colouring-technique from the Czech Republic has been nominated for the UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage list. High time for an exhibition! You’ll see insights into the Blaudruck-production (with join-in-workshops and tours!), cool Blaudruck-fashion and art by young designers and the Academy of (textile) Art in Prague! A dream.

The most analog hotel-room in the world
Just the mention of the little word “analog” sends a thrill of anticipation through a stressed-out lady-brain – of peace and letting go. And that’s exactly what you get today in room 509 in the 25hours hotel, which was transformed into an oasis of retreat by the supersense-team during the last two years. So just leave cell phone and other digi-stuff at home, come in and leave all your cares behind. There are books, a typewriter, relaxing record music and (particularly great!) you can have a picture taken of your day off by Eva Mühlbacher, who’ll snap visitor-portraits with her old studio camera between 15:00 and 20:00 (50 €)!

urbanize-Festival „DemocraCity“
Power politics, refugee crisis, terror and poverty have changed many European cities and forced municipal governments and citizens to a radical re-thinking and creative cooperation. Vienna joins in 10 days before the election and follows the example of so-called radical cities like Athens, Paris or Barcelona, where municipal politics has been completely reinvented through active citizen participation- and self-determination. At the “Place Internationale” at the Architekturzentrum, you can criticise, discuss ideas and net-work to your heart’s content. And be “mayor for 10 minutes”. Today is the opening. Great event!

Eating allowed!
That’s something women like to hear :-) Especially since any discipline concerning sport and figure is inevitably going to falter in the face of autumn-time indulgences (federweisser! chestnuts! St. Martin's goose!) As a fitness-coach and diet-entertainer, Patric Heizmann knows what he’s talking about but instead of guilty conscience he’s serving lots of fun. Today, he’s in Vienna with his cabaret program “Essen Erlaubt” (“Eating Allowed”) (his same-named book even made it on the Spiegel bestseller-list!) where he’ll whet the appetite for sweet and sour self-irony and spicy head-stomach dialogues. It’s as sustainable as it’s smart! There happen to be quite a few Buddhist centres in Vienna, which you usually barely notice. But today, they open their doors and allow an exciting excursion into the Buddhist community: with meditations and lectures, with mindfulness-workshops and instruction how to play Tibetan ritual instruments. At the Buddhist centre at the Fleischmarkt (a building well worth seeing!), a smoke offering ritual for the elimination of obstacles will take place. By the way, you can find a gripping interview of CitySpotterGirl with one of the first Buddhist priestesses in the world here.

Ti Amo 3
Finally! The funny-weird Italo-mafia-musical enters its 3rd round! Here’s a short summary for first-time-perps: The first part shows mafia-offspring Toni Marones’s struggle with wanting to be a singer rather than a Mafioso. Then in the second part, a wedding and various deaths (of course) kept him on his toes. And now in the third and current spin-off, the turbulences reach an all-time high, breathtaking nail-biter/tearjerker finale included. But what’s even more important than the story are the many cult hits and the captivating Italo-songs. Tired of Autumn already? This is like being on holiday!

No fewer than 55 films on Judaism are on the screens of selected Viennese arthouse-cinemas right now in the course of the Jewish Film Festival. From 16:00, they’re showing “Bagels in the Blood” (heartwarming refugee-documentary about a baker), “The Chop” (kosher-halal-butcher-tomfoolery). And the main film “Hummus” is consecrated to the triumph of the chickpeas. Bon appétit and Shalom!

Taxi.Speiber at Off-Theater
Ooh, that sounds edgy. A real rapid mash-up theatre piece is being brought to the stage by the Bernhard Ensemble tonight, which simply combines Martin Scorsese’s film classic “Taxi-Driver” with a Qualtinger monologue. This is how Herr Karl finds himself next to taxi-driver Travis (the film character), bombing down through mangy Vienna. Other special passengers like Clara Blume, Claudia Kottal and – today – Hubsi Kramar are on board, too. Together they look into the dark side of humanity, chat about love, death and the world and vent their spleens. Could be fun.

Even at the risk of being called a grandma now, CitySpotterGirl has often asked herself, what on earth is going on in the heads of the young generation? The new play “Good Morning, Boys and Girls” by wondertastic Juli Zeh is dealing with the “generation selfie & social media obsessed”, the drifting off into virtual worlds and the lack of humanity. Women love money
As women, is it really our own fault that we don’t make as much money as we deserve? Even though we really want more of it? In her lecture today, expert Gabriele Hochwarter will explain the dilemma behind this and gives advice on how women can develop a better sense of self-confidence and positive thinking on money and career. Spoiler: the wish to be loved as a person is often in opposition to the wish for more dough or professional advancement. It’s time to ban beliefs like “If I ask for more, I’m an inconvenience and nobody will like me” forever!

Joseph Bagelmanufaktur
There’s “bagel-y” news! Iconic baker Josef Weghaupt has gone to the bagels. And everyone knows: bagels are tricky. They must be cooked and baked, they must be soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. After months of fiddling around and exchanging know-how with New York’s bagel king, he succeeded. Joseph’s bagels are really something else. You can now buy them at the new manufactory at Albertinaplatz! Filled with warm Thum bacon, warm Höllerschmid roast beef or self-made smoked salmon, they are the perfect snack. And yes, you can also get all the other bread-like delights there.

A gorilla, a whale (both graffiti on the ceiling ;-) and a new pop-up restaurant have temporarily moved into the former Griensteidl. The interior has been generously de-furnitured, the clientele is bizarrely mixed and the lunch menu is quite easy to grasp with 9 dishes. But in case you’re still hungry after the goulash (with hand-made Joseph-rolls) or the oyster mushroom with fluffy mustard pickle mayo, just get the sweet-salty corn éclair with blackberries from Viola Bachmayr-Heyda’s ingenious patisserie.
