The Art of Long Life
TCM calls it “Yang Shen Fa”: the art of long life. And let's be honest, who doesn't want a long, vital life without afflictions and a radiant appearance to go with it? TCM expert Ina Diolosa Schönemann reveals today in a lecture how this can be achieved. She explains what to look out for (in time), what you need to avoid and which physical exercises and foods help to live long and happily. Raucous, noisy, scratchy and intoxicating: probably the most exciting actor in Austria at the moment is roaring through the Stadtsaal today! At the Salzburg Festival, theatre berserker Philipp Hochmair shone when he spontaneously stood in for the ill “Jedermann” Tobias Moretti. He also succeeded because he is intensively working on the role for his own project “Jedermann Reloaded”. Now, there’s another new interpretation of Hofmannsthal's mystery play, together with Kurt Razelli, which is located somewhere between avant-garde and electro-culture. Brilliant!

From Evin with Love
“I'm still here, I love you!” This is the message of the self-made objects of imprisoned women from the notorious Evin prison in Tehran. The prison is known for its inhumane conditions – the imprisoned mothers have all publicly campaigned for women's rights in Iran and were sentenced on flimsy grounds. With their self-made handicrafts, they want to send their children at home a sign of love and connection: a bird in flight, dolls, embroidered fabrics, texts... As of today, touching objects from Evin prison will be on display at the Volkskundemuseum.

A touching concert from the series: migration. And also a statement on the theme of farewell and departure. The Albanian singer Elina Duni sings powerfully and emotionally, full of sadness, melancholy and longing. Her folk songs, chansons and ballads are about all forms of migration. Because each of us has to leave something at some point or we can suddenly lose everything. She gives this painful feeling a detached yet expressive voice in her first solo programme “Partir”, which she also accompanies with piano, guitar and percussion. Listen in here!

Juliane Batthyany has captured the charm of the old Viennese cinemas, some of which are over 100 years old and in the process of disappearing. With a photo exhibition she pays homage to the classics among the movie theatres: Bellaria, Breitenseer Lichtspiele, Admiral.

Opened this week, already overrun on the first day: The latest gastro project of the Querfeld family of cafetiers is called Napoleon and is located in Kagran. The Freihof, dating back to 1494, was completely renovated for the ancient and now new inn. Each of the countless parlours and dining areas was furnished differently – always funny, often quirky (with embroidered pictures and photo wallpapers), in any case original. They serve typical Viennese dishes with a twist (also for vegetarians, like colourful turnips from the oven) and craft beer. Plus, a huge garden and service that doesn't buckle even under stress. It works!
