"Heya Girls!"
Yes, that's how I like it. A palace, a park, nice food. That's why I'll head to the ninth district on Saturday. There is a culinary garden party taking place in the wonderful Palais Clam Gallas. The entire day is devoted to “cuisine française”: visitors can taste and acquire French delicacies and lifestyle products at a fine gourmet market – such as wine and delicatessen, pots and kitchen equipment, textiles, accessories for the kitchen, French porcelain, napkins, French champagne and pâtés. From 11:00 to 14:00, top chefs from France will show their skills live on stage. And during the entire day, a French crêperie, a cheese-bar and a literature coffeehouse invite all to feast and chill out. Sounds like a perfect Saturday. À bientôt!

Wishing you a nice week

101 Pieces from The Golden Triangle
Daniela Muard toured through the “Golden Triangle” in the North of Thailand for two months, found beautiful landscapes - and mountain folks who still practice old weaving and printing techniques. During this trip, "101 pieces" were born: gorgeous dresses, trousers, silk and cotton skirts, hand-printed and hand-embroidered by Thai women. These items will be sold starting today at a pop-up store in an old backery for three days. There, one can try on Muard’s fashion - and get pampered with Thai feet massages. The "Aerofloten" will be playing on Friday at 20:00, - with accordions inspired by Thailand!

 Pollsiri
Designpfad
For three days, the 7th district is turning into a place of pilgrimage for friends of design. 20 stations dedicated to fashion, furniture, painting, hats, jewellery and textiles are presented at this year's Designpfad. Topic: stylish. With fashion studio Pollsiri, where visitors can become designers themselves and create their own loop scarf. In the jewellery store, ladies can follow creators working live on the summer collection. And at Gerngross, young fashion designers show (and sell) their samples: Alexander Georgiev, Desei, Décennies, Kitty Montgomery, Pollsiri and Linda Zlok. So much style!

Huun-Huur-Tu
They come from far away: these gentlemen are from Tuva, a secluded republic located between South Siberia and the Chinese part of Mongolia. Their music and their mystical overtone singing sound foreign and modern at the same time - their "Khoomei", or throat singing, as the Americans say, is a fascinating vocal technique. Their songs are influenced by vast lands, by the sky, wind and water and they tell of deeply spiritual ways, accompanied by shaman drums and horse-head fiddles. They even used to play music with Frank Zappa and the Kronos Quartett. Goosebump-inducing music with a magic that no one can avoid!

1st Viennese rental shop
The idea comes from Berlin, and starting today, Vienna will also get its first "rental shop"! Sharing makes happy, that's "Leila"'s motto. Everything we don't need very often should be rented at budget-friendly prices: from rechargeable drills to guest beds, from camping stoves to disco balls for future parties. Everyone can participate: become a member for two to three Euros per month, and then the renting is free! At Leila's opening event (starts at 14:00), there will be up-cycling workshops, an exchange-of-clothes party - and a surprise package for all who have already brought something for the Leila-exchange pool.

Big Outlet Sale at Göttin des Glücks
This will make ladies a bit melancholic: the "Göttin des Glücks" closes down her flagship in the Operngasse. The golden door, the small golden chairs, the crystal chandelier used as ambient for the eco-fair wellness fashion of the "goddess": it was really nice. Yet the store of the "goddess" has become too small, and that's why there's this Big Outlet Sale: minus 40% on all fashion milestones of all collections. Today on Friday, everything must go: at the closing down event at 12:00, there will be music, drinks & food provided by Sonnentor and a good-bye present for all visitors

Pop-up kitchen, tree grafts, cherry blossom jewellery, strudel snack, drinks, live music: what's happening today in the garden of the "Schraubenfabrik" sounds like a pretty crazy combination. "sloAkitchen" a Slovenian-Austrian project, invites all to a festival that stands under the sign of the cherry. There will be freshly made cherry strudel, fruit trees in the city will get grafts, cherry-related art & design will be sold - it all starts at 16:00. But at 14:00, there's a strudel workshop. And in the evening, Johann Sergej plays live. Always keep on the cherry-side of life!

Dirndl Workout
Well that's funny! We can take part in Vienna's first Dirndl workout at Revue Workout Studio. I'm serious! On mountain hut and après-ski music, ladies will wave their dresses at the dance workout, start working up a sweat and spreading Alpine flair. And no, no need to worry about tearing the pretty Dirndls. Because the main focus of the training lies on movements while standing up. Except for the last part of the choreography - the floorwork part with strengthening exercises on the ground. By the way: about 400 kcal are burned during one Dirndl session (every Saturday) ;-)

Domo de Europa Historio
Now this is completely crazy! The Belgian film director Thomas Bellinck stages a sort of "Back to the Future" for the Festwochen. His exhibition "The house of European history in exile" looks back from the future on the life of the long gone European Union. In the huge empty post office, he shows infographics, photos and objects of a time that could already be over tomorrow: a time of peace, a time of harmony, without borders, with a common currency. Visitors are allowed inside individually, and an appointment must be made in advance. Huge tip!

Last week, the weather chased us away, so this Sunday, we're trying again! In the teeny tiny Neusser-Park on the Phorusgasse, a fine group of designers, producers and gardeners are meeting to present dashing things for inside and outside, as well as plants and delicacies. Heimweh will have picnic blankets and flowery accessories, Ruth Wegerer the prettiest decorations for balcony and terrace. The Honigmaid has centrifuged fresh honey especially for the occasion. And the CitySpotterGirl will be selling her books. So come by: to chat, to buy and to laugh!

Otto Wagner: Steinhof
When it opened in 1907, the psychiatric establishment "Am Steinhof" was the largest and most modern mental asylum in Europe. Here, they treated the "mentally ill" relatives of European nobles. At today's tour, one can discover this fascinating facility. To close the visit, participants take a walk with guide Bettina Mandl over the Steinhof grounds up to the high point of Otto Wagner's architectural work: the Church of St. Leopold. It is seen as the most important sacred Jugendstil creation. Meeting point is in the foyer of the director's building.

David Garrett
Oh yeah, the lad doesn't only look damn good, he can also play the violin damn well! It's not without reason that the deceased grand master of violin Yehudi Menuhin used to call him the greatest of his generation. Today, David Garrett proves once again that he is a violin-devil: he brought his unusual collection of violins - including a precious Stradivarius dating from the 18th century. On these, the pretty boy plays works of Vivaldi, Mozart and Paganini. To die for. I mean, because of the music of course...

Avi Avital
We can no longer say that mandolin music is a boring pastime. When Avi Avital plucks at the strings of this little sister of the guitar, pieces by Bela Bartok or Anton Dvorak almost turn into hits! The Grammy-nominated Israeli Avital is a virtuoso on the mandolin, and today during the "Festival of Jewish Culture", he will make a guest appearance at the Konzerthaus. Neatly unshaved, tousled hair, cool clothes: he looks like a young Leonard Cohen and plays with the enchanting ease of Glenn Gould - tonight baroque fantasy, Jewish melodies and Romanian dances.

Actually, the "Vienna Night Run", for the benefit of the relief organization for blind people "Licht für die Welt", will start in September only. But until then, there's some training to do: once a month, there's a "Night Run" with famous animators. Today Tuesday, we can run with Paralympics swimmer Andreas Onea and running coach Beate Spangl-Rausch to get fit for the big event. Buschenschanks (traditional wine taverns) can also be like that! Verena Palzenberger, the hostess of "Chimbiss", will make an appearance during "Soho in Ottakring" with a pop-up Heurigen in Sandleiten. It is quite unusual: the fun & crazy furniture with crystal chandelier and pink floor comes from the "Vintagerie", the house wine, fondly called "Sandie", is supplied by wine-grower Michaela Jöbstl. There will be fine sausage and meat dishes to eat, cheese and spreads and dessert. But remember: it is only open until 31 May!

Währinger Frauenweg in Schlosspark
100 years have gone by since the first Women's Day in 1911. The Währinger Frauenweg (Währinger Women's Path) will remind people of the Austrian women's history. A road was created in the Pötzleinsdorfer Park with displays dedicated to important and engaged women: from Marianne Hainisch, who was a pioneer of the female middle-class movement , architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky with her "Frankfurter church" to the recently deceased artist Maria Lassnig. Today, the opening takes place with music and Councilwoman Sandra Frauenberger.

Alex Katz
If there is one artist who can be best described by the attribute “cool”, it is the worldwide famous New Yorker Alex Katz. "Cool" can refer to the temperature as well as to a "relaxed, calm, reserved" demeanour - and this is exactly the effect of Katz's works. Doesn't matter if he portrays (always in monumental formats) party-girls, depicts the New Yorker scene or paints remote-looking idyllic nature scenes: his mix of pop art and realism creates this impressive aura of distance. Starting today, the Albertina shows its complete collection of drawings by Alex Katz and a selection of his paintings.

Auf’gmascherlt
There used to be an old Heuriger. After years of service, he quickly turned into an insider's tip for friends of shabby chic and vintage style. Doris Haunold-Endlicher spruces up old pieces of furniture and sells them in her original "shop". It consists of a large taproom (in its original state) and two vintage rooms, filled with surprises: here an old workbench, there a shabby-looking kitchen sideboard, over there an ancient sewing machine along with nacre buttons, beside them fragrant candles, table cloths and stonehearts for the garden. A real surprise in Strebersdorf!

coffee & bread
Large, light, quick, cool. Huge leaves were painted on the roughly plastered walls, so because of this alone, the CitySpotterGirl already likes the place. But the rest of this new restaurant is fun too. For lunch, there are tasty soups, curry, salads and ragouts delivered by Zuppa in the 9th district and finalised on-site - which means: it is quick! For breakfast and in the afternoon, there are refined sandwiches, bread or sweet things. Orders and payment are taken at the counter, but there is no refectory feeling thanks to the stylish furnishing. And the service: exceptional. That's a place we'll go often.
