"Heya Girls!"
In our editorial garden the bees are already buzzing and the tomtits are building nests. Pretty early! No wonder that the green fingers are already tingling ;-) So it's fitting that Arche Noah has come up with something special for its 30th birthday (Happy Birthday!). On Saturday the first Arche Noah Seed Festival will take place in Vienna, a colourful market for seeds that have become rare. There will be treasures from the unique Arche Noah collection and from small organic farms for sale and exchange. Meaning rare, unknown varieties as well as forgotten local varieties – flowers, dye plants, vegetables. Variety that is not available in stores! There will be lectures, workshops and tips on sowing and plant care all day long. By the way: The Samengreißlerei, a new organic diverse nursery in Weinviertel, still needs a lot of help with bagging seeds and folding labels for the festival and is calling for a packing party in the 2nd district on Friday. Who’s got time?
Wishing you a fruitful week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Van Gogh, Cézanne, Matisse
On the banks of the Rhone in Provence in the south of France lies the city of Arles, famous source of inspiration for Vincent van Gogh’s paintings. "The Night Café" he called the painting in noisy green and iridescent red, in which the walls seem to be coming apart at the seams – "a place where you can go crazy", van Gogh wrote to his brother. The Albertina currently shows 120 works from one of the most important private collections of French-Swiss modernism: with Matisse, Cézanne, Vallotton and Bonnard. Including Van Gogh's "Four Withered Sunflowers".
Albertina, Albertinaplatz 1, 1010 Vienna. Until 24 May 10:00 to 18:00, Wed+Fri until 21:00. 16.90 €. Web

The Mentalist
There is more to see and hear with Roy Yozevitsch than just the bending of spoons by the power of thought. Paired with Jewish humour, it's pretty awesome. Dr. Roy Yozevitch, doctor of electrical engineering and mentalist from Israel, takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride through the human mind. His talent to recognise and mentally influence random thoughts, premonitions or gut feelings has already been proven from India to China. Today he will read the thoughts of Viennese people – fascinating and probably entertaining. Oh, and the show is in English!

The Dark Side of Vienna
Yes, our beautiful, romantic city also has her sombre sides! During today’s guided tour, you can go to the dark side of the city and learn about all kinds of eerie and spooky secrets from tour guide Tatjana. She knows how to tell a number of thrilling and very little-known stories from the city’s past, which make many a seemingly charming corner of the inner city appear in a whole new light. Hidden symbols, terrible cases of death, and creepy grave sites – they, too, are an important element of Viennese history.

Fifty Shades of Shame
Don’t be so bashful! Well, easily said, but the internalised life story is not that easy to charm away. If you wish to sink into the ground, you might manage to get through everyday life with your masks, but no question of being free and easygoing. Shame researcher Hille Beseler performs today on blushing and other embarrassments at the „Kleine Nacht der Schamgefühle” and tomorrow there’s a full-day workshop on this subject in the "laboratory" of sexual coach Brigitte Schlegel, which will make room for joy of life again. Please don’t be embarrassed!

Hommage to St. Margarethen
The screams of the jackdaws echo from the sandstone, which was already used in St. Stephen's Cathedral. Medicinal plants grow where the primeval sea once stretched and bees buzz over shells and water snails: that's summer in the St. Margaret quarry. And music and honey, literature and wine pay hommage to this Burgenland powerhouse in Vienna today. The mental and physical nourishment naturally also comes from there and can be found in unusual combinations. You can look forward to food pairing with cheese and a touch of spring.

"Femininity in Leadership"
The world is currently undergoing a gigantic change. The feminine is getting ready and takes the lead. In the one-day workshop "Femininity in Leadership", former group executives Sabine Gromer and Maren Heidemann as well as meditation teacher Claudia Strauss open up a feminine space for personal change. Together with like-minded people, they work on strengthening and empowering femininity in every leading woman – and for that, they dissolve in a profound manner what stands in the way of femininity. Yes, it is time to take the lead, ladies!

Losar: Tibetan New Year
The year of the earth-pig is history, welcome to the year of the iron-rat! Because the Tibetan year no. 2,147 starts now. “Losar”, the Tibetan New Year, has been celebrated for more than 2,100 years (since the enthronement of the first king Nyatri Tsempo) – and is also celebrated properly in Vienna with songs and burning incense today. They offer everything that’s part of a successful Tibetan party: The programme leads from the snow-lion dance to the Cholsum Shabdro dance group, from the incense offering ceremony to the purchase of Tibetan products, from a tombola to the Night Party. Indoor Skydiving Austrian Nationals
A bit like skydiving for cowards, but it’s still flying and that’s what matters! In the Windobona wind canal at the Prater, you can lose the ground under your feet in a controlled manner during the “indoor skydiving”. This is made possible by wind blowing 280km/h through a 15m-high wind tunnel. This weekend you will see the professionals flying there: the best indoor skydivers of the country perform impressive stunts for the “Austrian Nationals”. On Saturday, the Austrian champions will be determined, and afterwards there’s a party. Whoa!

Käthchen culinarily
Most recently, toque chef Roman Steger cooked up Doderer's Strudelhofstiege and Proust's lost time. Now it's Käthchen's turn, the one from Heilbronn by Kleist. The passionate kitchen artist has made it his business to prepare literature in a culinary way. For the medieval love story, he now serves 6 courses. Bergkäse, chicory, prawns and caraway roast are part of the surprise menu, whose dishes have names like "confusion" and "trial by fire". You may be curious how sauerkraut goes with chocolate, or vice versa? Reservations are essential.

FaustIn and out
Time for a feminist act of revenge after centuries of male classics in the theatre! Jelinek and Goethe will compete against each other in the production of "Urfaust/FaustIn and out" in the Volx/Margareten theatre. An evening about violence against women – in concrete television pictures (Fritzl, Kampusch) and in everyday experiences of violence by nameless women: Like a bird of prey, Elfriede Jelinek throws herself on Goethe's classic: "The great cultural creations do not come from women. But sometimes she can at least hit the marble with a little down pillow."

The Gebrüder Moped Show
It's all fake! Alternative facts are like apple strudel: homemade is the best. And that’s why Gebrüder Moped deliver a risky tell-it-all show from today (premiere!). The princess is a man and the frog was gay. Sigmund Freud suffered from menstrual jealousy and Mother Teresa was a cat. And Mozart also tinkered his so-called compositions with the prefabricated sounds of his Bontempi organ. Everything is verifiable! For real! With pictures, beats and brute standup the satirists leak the necessary evidence. Well, I’ll be damned.

Jaakko Laitinen
In their home country they are considered the wildest live act ever: Tango singer Jaakko Laitinen will make a stop at the Accordion Festival in Vienna with his combo Väärä Raha (in English: false money). With trumpet, bouzouki, accordion, double bass and the snappy singing of the bandleader the quintet spreads unleashed Finnish power. The bitter side of love is one of the main themes of the mostly self-written lyrics – which then resound in a mixture of Russian romances, Finnish tango and humpaa – a Finnish foxtrot variation with dance. Made in Albania
There was a time when tram line 6 was called the "Balkan Express". Today, we have a Bosnian-born minister of justice – we’re making progress, after all, right? Since the region nevertheless remains somewhat mysterious, Aktionsradius organises a focus month with discussions, films and literature on the Balkans. Two Albanian artists are up first: Elsa Martini shows everyday life and family life under communism in the mixed media series "Glück der Anderen". Pianist Enxhi Rroji plays classical songs and talks about the time of the dictatorship.

Ganymed at KHM
Always great when the pictures are brought to life again at the Kunsthistorisches Museum with "Ganymed"! This year "Ganymed In Power" brings power into the picture gallery – with text, music and dance. Thirty different artists tell of the retention and loss of power and the following aberrations in front of selected works of art – there are texts by Franz Schuh (on Rembrandt) and Milena Michiko Flasar (Bruegel), wonderful compositions by Strottern (Perugino) and surprising scenes by the Iranian duo Golnar and Mahan (Rubens). Today is the premiere!

Dancing Noodles
The man's got what it takes! Skillful like a strudel dough puller queen, he swings a strand of noodles around until they grow to surprising lengths.
