"Heya Girls!"
What is there to complain about? High heels by Louboutin, popular it-bags by Gucci and Louis Vuitton, dresses by Prada, coats by Burberry - if everything is reduced by half or even 80% of the original price, we should really give it a look. This Saturday, that’s possible at Vienna's luxurious fashion flea market called SecondTouch at Stilwerk. Only 10 minutes away at Madiani on the Karmelitermarkt, ladies will find original vintage items, with costume jewellery, garments and bag from many centuries as well as a selection of fine labels, also on Saturday. The proceeds will go to a Thai orphanage for children afflicted with AIDS. Finally, also this week-end at Hotel Ananas, the Vergissmeinicht Clothes Market will bring trendy treasures to the people, along with a buffet for breaks from rummaging. And for all who just can't get enough, there is a new story about outlets and vintage in Vienna on the web portal: here. Ok, now it’s enough.

Wishing you a nice week

The Palace of the Summerland
Wow! Starting today and for a whole month, Ragnar Kjartansson and his troupe of musicians, actors, costume designers, cameramen and his technical team will be living and performing continuously in the gallery rooms of the TBA21 at the Augarten and will transform it into a film studio. They will shoot the film version of "Weltlicht", by Icelandic Nobel Prize winner Halldor Laxness. Kjartansson himself describes the project as a "megalomaniac quest for the Holy Grail". The performance can be visited daily, the performance nights on the week-ends will be particularly exciting.

Designing shoes yourself - that's possible at Natalie Rox! In neo-German, it's called: "custom made shoe", Natalie's small shop in the Zollergasse has become a real insider's tip for such self-made footwear in the last year. There are five forms and over one hundred materials available, the best leather and beautiful types of fabric. The brand new digital 3D-shoe designer will be presented during today's celebration. It will also be possible to review Natalie's own new spring/summer shoe collection - and anniversary drinks and music will be provided as well.

African culture week
The rhythm of Africa is now pulsating through Vienna for a few days. The African "culture week" starts today - with lectures and food, with music and cabaret, with fashion shows and dancing from every corner in Africa. Different theme every night (Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Sudan), food from that region every night, a concert every night. It will be opened today by Minister Kurz, then there will be discussions about diversity around an Algerian dinner. At the end: a concert of the Ghanaian Barbara Alli (sample). And every day: the entrance is free!

Kadebostany
Come, my girl, dance with me! This is her, the republic of Kadebostan's embassy. I admit she is very small - and quite wacky... DJ Kadebostan, the charismatic president, and his girlfriend, the mysterious Diva Amina, are the preachers of a dance revolution - rap with fanfare-sounds, hard beats with angel voices, storms of light with ballet interludes in dragoner costumes. Kadebostany is really worth hearing - here - and experiencing tonight at Chaya Fuera. Oh and rumour has it that DJ and Diva are of Swiss origin, but who knows ;-)

Long Night of Research
How does one build a comet? How does one get to the bottom of the Jordanian groundwater? And where does one create Siberian temperatures in Vienna? There are so many exciting events at the Lange Nacht der Forschung (Long Night of Research) today that we don't even know where to start. 43 institutes, companies and museums present the current state of research at 321 stations - and so that we can understand it too. Participating is also possible: at the Happylab, one can cut felt slippers with a laser cutter. Or turn a pencil into a radio. And the entrance is free!

Juergen Teller & Nobuyoshi Araki
Yep, Vienna really is ahead with this exhibition! The OstLicht Gallery presents two photography world stars: Nobuyoshi Araki and Juergen Teller. Araki shows young women, rampant Japanese house landscapes, dolls and flowers on a black background - a search for paradise, after he recently lost his sight in the right eye. Teller shows collages of his exciting fashion campaigns, fun nude portraits and touching snapshots from his private life. Both together: an insatiable hunger for pictures is the instrument of their personal experiences.

Spring magic in the Palais
The "Wiener Kunsthandwerk" ("Viennese Handicraft") presents the new collections of over 30 designers at the Palais Festetics. There, a spring feeling will rise with bright bags by "Mitunter Bunter". Adorable: Claudia Föttinger's fine parchment works. Original: Christina Pölzl's "Neckties for the modern woman", who lets the "little black dress" shine in a new light. Funny: felted items by Monika Tatrai - with whom one can also felt a huge spring meadow that will then be raffled among the visitors. Oh yes, and the jazzy Paw-Trio will be there today at 17:00.

William Forsythe: Yes We Can’t
He's one of the big three of the ballet-Olympus, next to Pina Bausch and Merce Cunningham: William Forsythe celebrates the Austrian premiere of his new production “Yes We Can’t” at the Tanzquartier. What Forsythe brings to the stage with his company could be called a “high level failure“. “Yes We Can't” shows the struggle with an exceptional performance - and thus follows one of Samuel Beckett's mottoes: “Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”  Maximum dance-enjoyment guaranteed - and the realization that everyone is always a bit imperfect.

Easter market at Altes AKH
So, this is a first: an Easter market on the campus of the Altes AKH! The long-term success of the atmospheric "Christmas village" - a true crowd magnet - has motivated the Stiegl Ambulanz to now orchestrate a two weeks-long "Easter village". 25 exhibitors offer handicrafts and culinary treats at their stands. And of course, lots and lots of decorations for the celebration - from painted Easter eggs to creative table ornaments. In addition, there's the Stiegl Ambulanz's dining garden, the large parking spaces of the Altes AKH... it could be a nice little excursion.

The Viennese "Koteesch"
The "Koteesch" in the 18th districts is counted among the most classy and expensive areas in Vienna. It's a neighbourhood that has stayed quiet and green to this day. In the 1870s, they started building typical English villas and houses here, where soon enough, artists, scientists and architects settled down. Today, Barbara Wolflingseder leads through the dreamy streets, shows the most beautiful villas and tells where socialites such as Arthur Schnitzler, Emerich Kálman, Erzherzog Otto, Theodor Herzl or Arik Brauer and Erwin Pröll used to live. Or still live ;-)

Viennese Bike Parade
Hi there bikers! The weather's fine - so biking season is officially inaugurated today with the 4th Viennese Bike Parade.  Bikers will ride twice around the ring - which is blocked today for enthusiastic bikers and allows for some carefree riding! A motley music-mix by Mamadou Diabate, Matatu, Sambattac and Marcatu Renascente will provide the atmosphere. The 10km Ring ride will be accompanied by a bike-riding circus ensemble. Crossing the Sea of Colours
Very colourful, very exotic, very emotional - and just like a memory of an ideal world. Yan Suryana's pictures awaken a yearning for paradise. The artist, who comes from Java, who even once lived two years in Austria, has now pitched his tent in Bali and sees himself as a chronicler of the Indonesian culture. His message is as simple as it is beautiful: "I would like to make people happy with my art". As of now, one can see how it works out for him at the Fortuna Gallery in the Berggasse.

Pöchacker & Paschke – So Dog?!
Susanne Pöchaker is a physicist and a business consultant - and on top of that, a damn good cabaret artist! Now she's gone to the dogs, in real life and with her new programme "Na Hund?!" ("so what" became "so dog") that she presents today with Steffi Paschke at the Kulisse. A highly elegant suite in a luxurious hotel. A projector throws irritably pretty pictures on a screen. French music plays softly in the background. And most of all, the sensual scent of Marni Rose, the perfume of rose oil and cardamom and mint with a touch of bitter almond and musk. Where are we? In New York? Or Tokyo, lost in translation? No, no... we're in Vienna! In the 4* designer hotel, star photographer Mochael Dürr stages his "temporary scent-cinema". Metropolis feeling at Hotel Lamée, dress code: chic.

Ellen von Unwerth: Secret Service
Looks like Vienna is a photography-hotspot this week: with Araki and Teller at Ostlicht - and now with Ellen von Unwert at Preiss. And it crackles nicely over there: Preiss shows 28 works of the German star photographer, who is considered the master of erotic photography. Unwerth's women's portraits are sensual, lascivious, playful - pure erotica, but with always enough room for imagination. Her models: Kate Moss, Milla Jovovich, Herzigova. By the way, Unwerth's 28 pictures can also all be bought!

NippleJesus at mumok
Cult author Nick Hornby can be seen in the cinema this week again - with the film version of "A long way down", and Pierce Brosnan as a suicide candidate. But what's even more unusual is the second Hornby that can currently be seen in Vienna. "NippleJesus" doesn't only take place in a museum, it is also shown there: at mumok after closing time. "NippleJesus", a young artist's provocative portrait of the saviour, must be protected from a guard who slowly starts identifying himself with the piece of art. Cult!

Women's careers without glass ceilings
“I don’t like quotas, but I like what they do”, says EU-commissioner Vivianne Reding. But are quotas really an effective way to advance the equality of women in the workplace and to break glass ceilings? In any case, Norway implemented them in 2003, and Germany gets them in 2016. Power women such as Marit Hoel, CEO of the Centers for Corporate Diversity in Oslo, Christine Bauer-Jelinek and Monika Langthaler will discuss the experiences made by Norway since the implementation and how it looks in Austria.

Snipes
A fresh little wind blows from the Danube canal towards the city centre: the streetware giant Snipes has now settled down in the first district as well. Big and airy as usual, ladies can stroll along sneakers piled up to the ceiling while listening to the loud music, look through casual tank tops and cardigans, or try on cool snapbacks. Women's gear is easily identified by its usual pattern: lots of flowers, diamonds and leopard prints. Of course, everything's from renowned brands such as adidas, hummel, New Era, Alife & Kickin – and even Black Kaviar from Paris.

Leberkas willi
Dear friends of the vegetarian/vegan faction: this is not for you. It’s for the CitySpotterGirl. Since there's almost only vegan food left in Vienna, I think it is high time that a Leberkäse-snack bar opened up in the middle of it. And such a pretty one at that. And one where the Leberkäse-Semmel (the typical Viennese hard roll with meat loaf) tastily becomes the centre of the world: perfectly flavoured, served with a Semmel and baked in exciting combinations. There you'll also find Leberkäse with wild garlic, spinach, chilli or mozzarella. To take away or eat on the spot. Cool.
