"Heya Girls!"
The holiday on the beach will be a questionable matter this year. But it's not that bad because from Friday on there will be summer flair like at the sea and a sunbed in pool position in Vienna, too. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary beach clubs – and so the LUV Club opens in the pretty Schönbrunner Bad. The ambience: Greek Glam meets palace garden. You can chill out nicely on chic outdoor furniture, giant cushions and loungers. And, of course, you can also eat: Breakfast is served just as well as bowls, salads and summer food for lunch and dinner. There are also plenty of events happening – from "Yoga in the morning" to "Rosé Friday" and "Saxophone Night". And the mobile Bikini Bar is on the move around the pool and provides thirsty people with drinks. Now who needs Ibiza or Mykonos when you can just drive to Hietzing?

We can do this – together!

Women’s Health in Vienna
Is the Corona crisis a women's health crisis and who is affected and how? What about sexual and reproductive rights and health? What impact will the pandemic have on the Vienna Health Goals 2025? The City of Vienna has been working on women's health care since 1998. And currently on the corona pandemic and the corona crisis and its effects on women's health, as well. It is important to look at the current situation from a gender perspective and to consider women-specific needs. A discussion with female doctors!

Architekturzentrum reopens
Everything was ready, but in the Architecture Centre, too, the motto in March was: Close the doors! Now it's time to open again and show what you have, like the exhibition "Balkrishna Doshi. Architecture for People” as of today. The man is a real discovery, a visionary with a new approach to social housing and the most important representative of Indian modernism. He takes inspiration for his humanistic architecture from Mahatma Gandhi, openness and social mixing are important elements of his buildings. This has even earned him the Pritzker Prize, the "Nobel Prize of Architecture".

Wiener Prater reopens
Hopefully the ghosts in the ghost train will also stick to social distancing ;-) With all the necessary precautions, the Prater is opening roller coasters and merry-go-rounds, shooting galleries and the bumper cars from today. Distance markings will prevent crowds and employees will assign seats to the guests. In other words: It's getting loud again, it smells like candy floss and there is lots of hustle and bustle. New additions this year are virtual-reality attractions and an elevated railway. And when the Ferris wheel rides again, the Viennese world is almost back to normal again.

Window concert at the hotel room
Okay, that's unusual! The Hotel Zeitgeist is one of the most imaginative hotels in the city, as the very first window concert is taking place there tonight. Because the so important tourists are still missing, the rooms with a view of the inner courtyard become an exclusive concert lounge. Down in the courtyard, opera singers sing classical hits from Mozart to Strauss with Camerata Carnuntum. Upstairs in the rooms, the audience listens – perfect social distancing, as 2 people each use a room with courtyard view as a private box. And the room service delivers food and drinks ;-)

Singing on Donauinsel
How lucky that up to a hundred people are allowed to participate in outdoor events again since this week. So nobody will have to tip their toe into the water while singing on the Donauinsel. Under the guidance of Dorothea Ziegler, a native of Berlin with training as a spiritual dance leader, healing songs, soothing and holy mantras from all over the world are sung today in the open air. Everybody is supposed to bring a picnic blanket, a sun hat and whatever else you need to make music. Those who register by e-mail will receive the exact address.

Sunday Brunch at the Badeschiff
Today at the Donaukanal, you get very close to the feeling of a cruise holiday. On the five sun decks of the Badeschiff there is a Sunday brunch taking place and the summer cuisine is oriental in taste: handmade pita bread, sweet potato and bean spread, hummus with coriander, juicy coconut semolina cake and sheep's cheese with mint yoghurt. Traditional breakfast dishes like scrambled eggs get a spicy kick with coriander vegetables. With sunglasses on your nose and a bit of imagination, you are basically already sailing through the Red Sea in your mind.

Into the Vienna museums at a discount
It’s open! This is the Pentecost motto of many museums, which open again after what feels like an eternity and throw around with discounts out of sheer joy. Like the Kunsthistorisches Museum, which is back earlier than expected and for which everyone only has to pay as much as they want. Pay as you wish also applies in the Kunsthalle and for the new exhibition "...of bread, wine, cars, security and peace". In order to enter Haus der Musik, you don't even have to get out your purse, admission is completely free. And modern photography is also free at the Kunsthaus.

Hermesvilla opens again
With the collapse of the monarchy, the Hermes Villa fell into disrepair until it was ready for demolition in the 1950s. A Walt Disney film and the hunting passion of the mayor of Vienna, Bruno Marek, saved the building in the Lainzer Tiergarten. And as of this weekend, the Hermesvilla has opened its doors again! You can thus take a majestic walk through the once imperial hunting grounds of the Lainzer Tiergarten and get some fresh air. Or take a closer look at "Sisi's Castle of Dreams", including an original state bed and "Midsummer Night's Dream" murals.

 Klimt Villa
Klimt, Coffee & Cake
Holiday in the garden: The Klimt roses in the garden of Klimt Villa are currently blooming in a rich and bright pink colour. The neo-baroque villa used to be Klimt's last studio, today it is known to house a nice museum. And since recently there is also a small summer café where coffee and cake are served. The Klimt Villa (which receives no public funding) is in urgent need of financial support after the Corona crisis, so it is socially and culturally of great importance to eat as much cake as possible! The best reason ever ;-)

Online Zen Meditation
Just sitting there quietly and calmly can be a real matter of patience. In ZaZen (sitting meditation), you remain completely calm with your eyes closed for a certain period of time. Sounds quite heavenly, actually. How this works in practice is revealed today in the online meditation of the Mishoan centre. The aim is to perceive the present moment, thoughts are allowed to arise and should then move on again. The relaxing technique is practiced together twice a week, the link to the free Zoom meeting can be found on the homepage.

Jannis Raptis: Views of a Troubadour
What looks exciting on paper, sounds just like it in real life: Jannis Raptis, son of Greek parents and born in Germany, modernises medieval Minnesang in Vienna. When you listen to it, you can clearly hear the folklore, but Greek music, jazz, Latin and flamenco also resonate. In the evening the professional guitarist, singer and storyteller will play his latest album "Ansichten eines Troubadours" live on the platform "Roomservice". In addition, as an exclusive treat, you can listen to excerpts from his epic fantasy novel. A real minstrel of modern times ;-)

Will and John Melling have made it from the bathtub to the real brewery. Recently, their beer has also been available for tasting at their own brewery in Favoriten, preferably tonight during the first, somewhat unusual pub quiz. There will be 5 rounds with 50 questions, free beer for bonus tasks and the main prize are vouchers from the brewery. Reservations are essential, seats are limited. Cheers!

Meinklang
Somehow all this is an artistic synthesis: a Demeter farm shop in a gallery, radically minimalistic style and archaically beautiful with furs on the floor and coarse wooden tables. The biodynamic farm Meinklang from Pamhagen now supplies us city dwellers with everything produced on the farm. And that’s a lot! Sourdough breads (Kamut wholemeal bread!), flours, wine, beer, meat from Angus cattle, lamb and Mangalitza pork and ready cooked meals like goulash glasses. Lettuce is offered openly in a bowl and you can pick elderflowers out of a big basket. Highly recommended!

Modern inn replaces old tavern. That was the plan. And just as they were about to open up, the Corona catastrophe happened. Worst timing imaginable, but after a few weeks with take away, you can now finally admire the graffiti of the British artist David Shillinglaw on the walls of the Schlawiener "in the flesh". Or immediately dig in to the food. The motto there is: down-to-earth but creative, mushroom Beuschl ragout made from king oyster mushrooms, ramen in Viennese style or very classic beef cheeks taste great and are fun. It's super cosy here and really nice.
