"Heya Girls!"
Well, that was turbulent! Since yesterday, we've been getting bombarded with event cancellations here in the editorial office – and although we tried to update as soon as possible, one or the other event in this edition of CitySpotterGirl will probably fall victim to the virus as well. Next week there will be almost nothing taking place in public places anymore and so we will have to cancel the next issue of your favorite newsletter! On March 26th we will be back, come what may. At worst we will send you some knitting instructions instead of event tips ;-) And for this week we have a guaranteed Corona-resistant TV tip: One of Vienna's most progressive farmers, Andreas Gugumuck, has revived an old Viennese tradition with his snail breeding. This tradition also found its way into Austria's first Netflix series about the young Sigmund Freud in Vienna around 1886. In the crime series Andreas Gugumuck plays the snail seller from Brunnenmarkt ;-) Can be seen on Sunday evening on ORF 1!
Wishing you a healthy week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

She actually wrote the whole Conchita album, but usually the soul belter Eva Klampfer alias Lylit composes for herself. With a lot of power in her voice she sings about the deepest needs and about intense feelings. At Sargfabrik in the evening, the singer and composer hits the keys of the piano during one of her rare solo concerts today, proving that she also has what it takes to produce more gentle tones. Currently, she is dealing with the new role of women in society in her lyrics, singing about self-determination, courage and finding your own way. You can listen in here.

Pyjama Party
You’ve already tried all Snapchat and Instagram filters? Then off to the nofilter_museum, where you can put yourself in the best light in front of exciting backgrounds and designs like golden confetti rain and shimmering bubbles – and give your Instagram account that certain something. Today, there’s indeed a pyjama party happening, with nourishing face masks and sparkling rosé champagne. In the make-up station, brushes are swung and your best side is accentuated – and then it's off to the selfie flashlight storm. And all of this completely relaxed in your pyjamas. Sweet!

For menstrual pain, women take hot water bottles and painkillers. But what if that does not help? Many people do not know that extreme pain can be a sign of endometriosis. The Endometriosis Association will provide information on the symptoms and consequences of this chronic disease this evening. Various methods and techniques can help to better deal with the monthly pain. On site, women can try out Luna Yoga, singing bowls and visualisation. Anyone who still has questions or wants to exchange ideas can do so over snacks and drinks.

Could this be because of Friday the 13th? In any case, the who's who of the domestic fashion blogger scene part with their favorite pieces today. This gives fashionistas the chance to buy fashion masterpieces at bargain prices. Sonia Dhillon and Hank Ge have cleaned out their wardrobes, too ;-) The crowning finale is the free workshop of the Flower Queens of "We are Flower Girls" for all shopping queens. Roses, lilies and tulips are used to create crowns appropriate to their status. And with outrageous luck you might even win back the money for your shopping.

Room of Silence
Also beautiful for non-churchgoers! Every second Friday at 17:00 the Servite Church currently invites you to retreat and rest. You can simply sit down in the chapter room and listen to classical music, in between stories, poems and psalms are read, which aim to lead into silence. Above all, Jamila Baier-Mathews will give an introduction to the practice of mindfulness with breathing, body and meditation exercises. A meditative break at the end of the week – and a short everyday escape for you to recharge your batteries and decelerate.

Gourmet-Dinner: „Italian Journey”
It used to be called "the Grand Tour". Between the 18th and 19th centuries, countless globetrotters and aesthetes embarked on an educational journey through Italy – and it’s precisely this tour that is now being copy-cooked in Vienna. Cookbook authors Dario and Manuela follow in the footsteps of Goethe's journey to get to know and taste the cuisine of that time. The (culinary) path leads from Lake Garda to the foot of the Etna in Sicily. After the show-cooking a 5-course menu is served at the huge wooden table. Endive tartlets from Naples and Saint Agatha’s breasts from Catania included.

Zerum Stock Sale
Fair fashion at more than fair prices! In the organic-fashion mecca in Kirchengasse, the warehouse is emptied and the entire first floor (which is usually the men's department) is converted into a sale floor. Fabulous feel-good items are sold off at prices of up to minus 60 percent. For example, cute organic cotton shirts of Zerum's own brand, slow-fashion dresses, skirts, dresses or vegan Natural World shoes. Lots of leftover pieces, discontinued models or "scarce goods" with mini defects. And: In addition to Zerum’s own brand, there is also room for other small designers to sell off their things!

Central Cemetery at Night
During the day, the gates of the Central Cemetery are open to everyone but at night nobody is allowed inside, usually. But today there is a night tour: during the two-hour walk through dark tree avenues and lines of graves, city guide Gabi knows all kinds of scary stories to tell about the funeral arrangements of alleged “revenants”, offers bloodcurdling details about the mortal remains of famous people and skulls that are supposedly buried there but in fact are not. You can also learn about the fascinating genesis of the cemetery. It’s necessary to sign up!

Day of Vienna district museums
CitySpotterGirl for one has a soft spot for the somewhat dusty exhibition arrangements and respectable directors of the Viennese district museums ;-) At times, you can actually find real treasures and tropes of knowledge buried there! Today, all district museums are open from 10:00 to 16:00, with several events taking place there using the motto “Cinema, Theatre, Varieté in Vienna”: in the eight district, the exhibition “Kinos in der Josefstadt” opens and in Ottakring you can learn about the life of Austria’s first female film director Louise Fleck.

Fashion Victims
Admittedly, haute couture is not necessarily the first thing you think of when you go to church. But a closer look at the clothing of the saints is still worthwhile. For the works of art are not tantamount to robes and veils, as the somewhat different "fashion show" in the cathedral museum today will prove. A tour through the historical treasures, paintings and sculptures will give you the opportunity to discover the art and fashion trends of the Middle Ages. The clothes on the works of art illustrate piety and remorse, but also vice, vanity and waste.

Book Flea Market
Whoa: 150 banana boxes filled to the top. But not with fruit, but with many, many books – so food for the brain then. Today, all bookworms can rummage through the Kalvarienberg Church's neatly sorted books. The parish hall and the garden hall have been specially transformed into a book flea market. Those who prefer music can choose from the large selection of CDs, DVDs, LPs and music supplies. By the way, if you like to really go for it here, you don't need to have a guilty conscience. Half of the proceeds go to the Pfarrcaritas.

Nutrition Psychology
Eating used to be so simple. But nowadays it feels like we’ve forgotten how to eat healthy. What's good for us? What food, at what time and in what form – who knows anymore. No more frustration, munchies and a negative body image: In her workshop, nutritional psychologist Cornelia Fiechtl shows techniques for healthy eating behaviour in everyday life. With mindfulness-based methods, somatic body intelligence and the knowledge of what effects diets have on us in general, the path to a healthy eating behaviour should finally be clear again.

Sun Salutation at Planetarium
The yogic breathing exercises of Pranayama (Prana: our life energy, Ayama: control) have a powerful effect. Under the wide starry sky, their effect could likely still be increased. Tonight the sun and moon will be greeted in Austria's largest planetarium in the Prater. And afterwards there will be a star meditation. This evening is suitable for practiced yoginis who want to try something new. Afterwards there will still be time for a ride on the Ferris wheel, since it’s already a tad late for the ghost train. You can find more unusual wellness courses at the portal.

Running for Beginners
The moment it’s a bit warmer outside, half of Vienna seems to unpack their running shoes, everywhere you turn, you see motivated joggers dashing around. If you don’t manage to wrestle down your inner couch potato on your own and finally get moving, you can surrender yourself to the care of running coach Barbara Hinterberger. Her beginner’s running class trains together in a small group on Tuesdays. She teaches –with individually adapted training –the correct running technique and gives sporty "homework". Strength training for runners is also shown.

Inspector Miez Marple
Since cats are already ruling the internet, they are now trying for their literary rise. The author Fabian Navarro helps them to achieve world domination with his cat mystery story "Miez Marple – Der letzte Prank". The furry detective Miez Marple investigates the murder of a YouTuber. With Al Katzino there is already a prime suspect, too. The play will be read by the crime writer together with the actress Ronja Forcher, known as Lili in "Der Bergdoktor". And because there can never be too much cat content, they also promised to play us some cat videos.

Shimmer of Pearls
The hiccup of the shell, the pearl, is the subject of a new exhibition at the Slavik Gallery. The classic pearl necklaces of mothers and grandmothers are not what’s on display, though. 13 artists have transformed pearls in delicate rosé, grey, blue and classic white into ultra-modern pieces of jewellery. Stephanie Jendi's unusual ring sculpture "pink galaxy" is clearly reminiscent of a star system in which the pearls circle like planets. Anna Heindl places pearls on a ring like in a golden nest. From brooches to earrings to necklaces, everything is represented in a pearly manner.

In the boutique with its dignified dark wood panelling, the designer's broad smile makes it a little warmer. It’s quite obvious: You are welcome here. The fashion presents itself in a reservedly minimalist manner, the colour palette ranges from black to natural tones and powdery pink. Only in between, you’ll see a splash of red or green flash up. For special occasions there are dresses made of French silk and dreamily romantic headdresses. In the back room, the completely white "White Room", you will find the casual line. A shop with Ying and Yang, so to speak.

She used to be Christian Petz’s right hand, now Heidi Neuländtner runs not one but two market stalls next to each other at the Meidlinger Markt. She needs them too – both are packed to the rafters every day. The modern Viennese cuisine she serves here is so amazing that even guests from far away make it to the market. And then they can enjoy a perfect creamy goulash or a turnip roll with quince. On Saturday, breakfast is now also served, followed by a fresh roast, followed by the dumpling specialities in the evening. Tradition rarely tastes so fresh and tasty!
