"Heya Girls!"
Touching and trying out, that's what the Maker Faire is all about, taking place this weekend in the hip METAStadt in the 22nd district. A hit for every wannabe-Daniel(a) Düsentrieb and DIY queen! The exhibitors and workshops offered by 900 “Makers” range from Visible Mending to the Repair Cafe. From learning to solder to opensewing, where a dress is collaboratively redesigned from old textiles. From 3D printing to the laser labyrinth. CitySpotterGirl is already very excited for the Maker Faire – because we will also be there, and at our stand on the ground floor you can buy books and create colourful paper works with the help of the “Wiener Muster-Buch”. (By the way, the photo on the left is a great collage that director Mirjam Unger created with papers from our pattern book). And, heads up: The first two readers to send an email to our office will win two day-tickets each to the fair! So chop chop!

Wishing you a creative week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Clay on Display
When the girls from rami Keramik-Studio invite you to their events, it's always a fine thing. But for the 5th birthday of the Steingut-Tempel they have really come up with something special: the longest ceramics exhibition Vienna has ever seen! For ten days, 25 ceramic artists will decorate the shop windows of various businesses on Lerchenfelderstraße. Among them are Anna Riess, Matthias Kaiser and Ena Kirchner. By the way, you can easily be guided from spot to spot via QR code on Google Maps and today is the opening at rami Teehaus!

Guerilla Gumpendorf X Creative District
There are streets that are simply hip, trendy, cool! “Gumpi" is one of them. In recent years it has developed into a top creative district where fashion and interior design meet gastronomy and lifestyle. Today, 70 of the most creative people in the district come together for a stylish super party. At Beerlovers, for example, you can sample mother's milk beers, get your hands on summer prizes at Kayiko and browse the arkitaip pop-up at Consches. The shopping party starts at Not Another Concept Store, which is where the whole programme will be presented!

1 day, 2 flea markets
Today features a real bargain party, because rarity lovers, vintage hunters and bookworms will find their shopping happiness at 2 flea markets at once: The first location is even extra special, because the Caritas antiques and book market takes place in the Episcopal Palace, which is usually not open to the public! There is a ton (!) of beautiful small furniture, vintage pieces, glassware, porcelain and thousands of books. Then on to Haus Döbling, where crockery, clothes, games, etc. are waiting for a new home – and for grumbling stomachs there's a fresh buffet!

George Dalaras
White sandy beaches, turquoise water, rosemary-scented summer wind - if anyone can make music to express this feeling of freedom, it is George Dalaras. His passion for exotic sounds led him to create a unique mix of rembetiko – the Greek blues – Greek folk music and Latin American colouring, and to compose Mediterranean-inspired ear candy like “Ola Kala” or “Kalimera Kalimera Ilie”. Among them are also world hits with Sting, Peter Gabriel and Bruce Springsteen! Today, the charming Greek will make our knees go weak with his classics.

Diversity Ball
A young man in a tailcoat elegantly spins a woman in a glittering dress around the dance floor. She is blind, he is deaf. Two lesbian women are still puzzling over which one should lead this time, and in the middle of it all, celebrities and artists. The Diversity Ball wants to set an example: for colourfulness in our society and respect! It brings together people of different origins and religions, disabled or not, women and men, heterosexual and homosexual, old and young! The celebration will take place in the stylish Kursalon Wien with live music, Fenix Lopez, a sign bar and a Humana Fashion Show.

Today, there’s a hive of activity again at Zukunftshof! Where the Haschahof used to be at home, urban nutrition, sustainability and circular economy have been rethought for a while now. Today, the gates of the historic estate in Favoriten will be opened for the weekend. Platz da
We want space, need space, take space, create space. Because having your own space makes you happy. But can it also make us lonely? The photo exhibition by photographer Yannick Schuette and stylist Simon Winkelmüller is about precisely such moments of visibility, privilege and habit. The fashion photographs are derived from their joint film “Platz da”. The fashion shown addresses profound themes such as identity politics, activism and sustainability and aims to make them physically tangible. Even without the background knowledge, it’s pure eye ecstasy for fashion lovers!

Science Fiction in the Park
Dark scenarios in nightly Margareten! On six evenings, science-fiction films will once again flicker across the screen in Bruno-Kreisky-Park, open-air style. Since in many older genre flicks the future comes across as gloomy but from today's perspective also sometimes unintentionally funny, this year's theme is “In the year...”. And so we look into the future, some of which has already passed, and into a future that is still far ahead of us – today, for example, into a world without men (“Sexmission”). So let's go for weird cinema, chill hammocks and a summery park ambience!

 Petra Stelzmüller
Undine is coming
For a year now, a metal pipe on blue stilts has been winding its way from Sigmund Freud Park to the Danube Canal. But as of today, the pipeline no longer only serves to pump out water for the underground construction, but is supposed to be a mouthpiece for us ladies. For this purpose, quotes from Ingeborg Bachmann's “Undine geht” wind along the pipes like a snake. This gentle yet emphatic sign is an idea of designer Petra Stelzmüller and is intended to particularly make issues such as the social position of women and physical and psychological violence by men visible. Today is the opening!

 Sabine Hauswirth
Sabine Hauswirth: Personal reloaded
Character studies are the trademark of star photographer Sabine Hauswirth. The Viennese was a model herself, then switched behind the camera and has been photographing heaps of celebrities ever since. As part of the Hietzing District Festival Weeks, you can now admire the creative talent's latest exhibition. From Christine Nöstlinger to the Gugging artists, all have posed in front of her lens, offering a personal, touching glimpse into their souls. Whether in black and white or in colour, the individuality of the protagonists is combined to perfection with the randomness of the moment. The opening is today!

Susanne Kristek
For 23 days, “Wir sind Wien” once again turns the city into stages for lots of cultural enjoyment. Today Susanne Kristek will read from her firstling at a picnic: She describes the (her) arduous life of a woman who has set her sights on becoming a best-selling author and who doesn't shy away from any crazy idea. She pesters the priest for a review in the local parish magazine, gives readings in front of dead people and gets coached by Hera Lind in slippers. A hilarious satire about the ups and downs of being an author. Music is provided by husband DJ Mike!

Albert&Tina starts again
Chingeling! It's that time of year again: from today, as soon as the last pencil is dropped (so when the sun is still nice and warm, if you please), it’s off to Vienna's most beautiful terrace again to dance into the evening with a view of the Vienna State Opera. For on the venerable walls of the Albertina-Bastei, a waterfall of sparkling wine and electrifying sounds are waiting every Wednesday to make you shake off the office stress and workaday bustle in no time. Extra nice: during the events, all exhibitions in the Albertina can be visited until 21:00. Today is opening day!

Seabreeze
Even when it rains, a pleasant sea breeze blows through Carina's store – and not just because of the name! Upon entering, it smells like sun, warm sand and deep blue ocean. No wonder, because the idea for “Seabreeze” was born in such a setting in Greece. On 130 square metres, interior lovers will find everything to turn their home into a holiday oasis – from tableware to wickerwork to large pieces of furniture. There are also nice little things at even nicer prices, and if you need the right Ibiza-look outfit, you'll find it in girlfriend Martina's shop-in-shop!

Cafe Fleuri
Sometimes I react like my cats when they smell treats. I see a photo of a particularly pretty cake on Instagram and I'm on my way. That's how I ended up at the new Fleuri: delightfully decorated with elegant floral wallpaper like a Parisian café – and the glass cabinets full of sweet delights: Milchmädchen cake, eclairs, strawberry-raspberry dessert and porcini mushroom biscuits with edible moss. Tastes great, as does the avocado tartar with homemade toast. And the best thing is that this gem is run by highly likable ladies from Ukraine and Russia together!
