Tipps der Stadtspionin

editorial

"Heya Girls!"
I’ll tell you what! My poor overheated head and my tired bones are in dire need of fun and recreation. Which is why I have prescribed myself an out of this world-spa day to restore my work-life balance. The whole thing will go down on Sunday, when the public is invited to the crazy “Free spa day for everyone” at Sanatorium Sonnenland in the course of WienWoche. It starts at 11:00, 13:00, and 15:00 with the spa tram from Urban-Loritz-Platz, where there will be entertaining power-acts even during the trip. And then, at the former recreation home for children in Simmering, a wide range of unconventional feel-good treatments and ironic therapy sessions await stressed-out souls. Like taking a club holiday at Animarium, southern hopping (like Nordic walking, but with a glass in hand!) and trying made-up special diets. If you’re still stressed-out, you’ll approach your personal nirvana from 18:00 during the spa concert and performance. And who knows: maybe you’ll even make one of those notorious gentleman friends there ;-)

Wishing you a relaxing week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Sanatorium Sonnenland, Meeting point: Urban-Loritz-Platz, 1070 Vienna. 24 September (alternate date in case of heavy rain: 30 September). Free entry. Register. Web

Burg-Flea market
The whole editorial team is in hysterics. The mere thought of getting hold of a cult-costume of your favourite actress (Birgit Minichmayer!) or maybe picking up a requisite from your favourite theatre play (Peter Pan! dosenfleisch!) today is just too tempting. But even less passionate theatre-aficionados will get their money’s worth: there’s crazy and unique stuff like for instance a miniature carousel, a brains-bar, a fake piano, different outfits, wigs, and signed photomurals. You can find more cool flea market tips for the weekend at the portal! Have fun and enjoy, this is truly a treasure hunt!

Long Night of Intercultural Dialogue
What sounds a bit theoretical at first is actually quite the opposite: a thrilling journey through multiculti-Vienna. No fewer than nine locations offer cosmopolitans the chance to dive into foreign cultures, learn about unknown ways of life and maybe even rid themselves of one or two prejudices ;-) At Rathaus, there’s dancing to oriental jazz fusion and at Palais Kaiserhaus you can look strangers into the eyes as a social experiment. At Korea Kulturhaus you can try different appetisers from all over the world. And at Indigo of Caritas you can cook and chat with longtime unemployed people.

Kim Cooper „Sag es auf Germlish“
Sometimes soulsister, then rocksinger – we already know that ex-“Rounder-Girl” Kim Cooper has something on the ball when it comes to singing. Now her new program proves that she’s unbelievably funny as well. She shares stories from her life, at times quite sarcastically about other people but also – and that’s part of why she’s so likable – about herself. She’s not afraid to make fun of her own body, talking about her change of diet (bordering on genius: her version of “The Sound of A Diet”!), as well as the true reason for her fitness centre visits! Hilarious!

“What you’ve always wanted to know about sex”
For tonight’s talk, it’s safe to say that every woman can leave any sex taboos or virtuous nun’s behaviour at home. Instead you can have an open and honest conversation about what comes to your mind when loving and making love. Absolutely EVERYTHING can be brought up and asked: sexual problems, feelings of shame, self-doubt, fears of failure, etc. etc. etc. The difference from confessing to your best friend here is that a professional expert will be present to host the evening, offering advice and support: the clinical psychologist and soul-author Sabine Standenat.

The newly opened café at Brick-5 is indeed named after its former use as a sports hall (a Jewish school used to be situated there until 1938). But from now on the cosy-stylish workshop-loft ambiance will be a place for gourmandizing, not training. It offers seasonal delicacies from the Veggie- &Vegan kitchen – ranging from blue mold-zucchini-wheat to sinful cakes from gosweetbakery. All ingredients come from their own garden in Lower Austria! On Sundays, there’s Brunch, on the other days a daily changing buffet. Real swell – and another great new location in the ‘hood of the 15th district.
