Manu Delago
No pushing around of shows, rather arrange a seated pandemic concert series: that's how the WUK does it, and at the top of the line-up is Grammy-nominated composer and hang virtuoso Manu Delago. His solo “Mono Desire” has a million clicks on YouTube and in London he plays with stars like Björk. His largest live show to date, “Circadian”, is an acoustic journey through sleep cycles, from REM to light sleep and deep sleep to an abrupt awakening – inspired by Delago's personal experiences with sleep deprivation during his numerous international tours.

Natalie Neumaier: Viola Volando
Is often separated, here it comes together: Natalie Neumaier combines text and drawings, places them on top of each other, crisscrossed, instead of separating them on several pages. In this way, mixed media collages bring together what belongs together for the artist – the idea and its source of inspiration. The exhibition “Viola Volando” shows her drawings, notes, and texts immortalised on books, paper, and pictures, because Neumaier uses the stone of impetus for a thought directly as a base. This unusual combination can be seen free of charge from today.

Writing at the café
The babble of voices, clattering dishes and strange faces: that's how a coffee house sounds and feels. As a meeting place for both the young and the old, it can also be an atmospheric place for inspiration. Coach Beatrice Floh's writing workshop uses this atmosphere to gain impulses and new impressions for the next story. These can be snapped up fragments of conversation, farewell scenes or a conversation with the waiter. The exchange with others over a coffee or observing the comings and goings might bring about the flash of inspiration.

Hamilton
Absolutely unique: despite prices of up to 1,000 dollars, New Yorkers are fighting for tickets for the Broadway hit “Hamilton”. In Vienna, the hip-hop musical is coming to the Artis Kino today – completely free of charge if you register via the American Embassy! The magnificently staged play tells the story of statesman Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States, with rap battles and arias. For the cinema version, the musical show was filmed with the original cast. “Hamilton” was awarded 11 Tony Awards, a Pulitzer and a Grammy – listen in here.

Season Start at Eislaufverein

Donation books, review copies and duplicates are sold at really great prices – from 1.50€ for paperbacks and 2.50€ for hardcovers. 90% of the books are as good as new and many are still in their original packaging (cellophane will soon be history in bookstores!). Among them are contemporary fiction as well as crime novels, illustrated books and classics from Austria, plus audio books and many magazines.

Old Jewish Vienna
The waltz-obsessed Vienna of the good old days, all the clichés perfect for tourism that still characterise the image of our city at home and abroad today: they were invented by Jewish authors – Schnitzler and Altenberg, Stefan Zweig and Joseph Roth, and cast in sounds by Jewish musicians like Johann Strauss and Hermann Leopoldi. The production “Süßes Mädl, blaue Donau” dedicates an evening on stage to them. Text and sound take you on a foray through Jewish Vienna. An evening about the Viennese soul, not typically Viennese or Jewish, but both at the same time.

Vienna's first choice for porcelain, crystal and cutlery has a new address: Albin Denk has moved from the Graben just around the corner into the vaults of the birthplace of Johann Nestroy. Formerly a royal court supplier and today Austria's oldest porcelain shop (founded 1702), you simply have to take a look at the traditional house. Long tables are decorated with Gmundner ceramics, noble Augarten porcelain and exclusive tableware from Meissen to Rosenthal. For sommeliers there is a special selection of crystal glasses and carafes. For trends and tradition of great table culture!

A long time was spent renovating (while the hotel was open), now the all-new Hilton at the Stadtpark is almost finished. Selleny's on the ground floor has already opened: During the day, the restaurant named after the Viennese globetrotter and builder of the city park is a café, in the evening it turns into a bar. The furnishings are reminiscent of designs by Otto Wagner and Josef Hoffmann – looks elegant, but still quite homey. The cosy boxes are especially nice. On the menu you will find light dishes such as Jerusalem artichoke pockets, bowls or roasted cauliflower. Be sure to try: the signature coffees!
