Tipps der Stadtspionin

"Heya Girls!"
I admit it, it took me quite a lot to overcome my inner couch potato for this self-experiment. An arduous trip with U1 to Danube Island to then do yoga on a shaky SUP-board? But: the spirit of adventure won! After a short introduction, we went straight onto the board (by the way, it wasn’t even THAT slippery), paddle in hand and out to the calm waters of Old Danube. First insecure, then with an ever-growing grin and full speed ahead. Out there, the yoga boards were docked to some sort of island and what followed was indeed pure deep relaxation: the water was murmuring softly, the frogs croaked a sonorous Om, a swan was peacefully making its rounds –  and not a single stinging insect in sight anywhere. Since you don’t want to tumble into the water first thing, you perform the exercises so slowly and carefully that you get into an absolutely chillaxing mode in no time. And that I fell off the board at some point was actually really enjoyable ;-) You can do SUP yoga every Saturday morning – a short notice is enough. And afterwards: après asana at the sandy beach of Copa Beach.

Impulstanz Festival 2017
More than 60 productions, 250 workshops, parties & exhibitions at 18 locations – where to even start with this year’s dance highlights? Maybe with star-choreographer Jan Fabre, whose wild orgy of beer, chips and prostitutes is meant to highlight European absurdities. Or with ballet-cannon Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, who brings an order to happiness with religious sounds in “A Love Supreme”. Or maybe with Madonna’s former dancer Drew Dollaz, who will be teaching his breathtaking flexing and bone breaking skills. It starts today!

Gustav Klimt would be 155 years old now, which is why a big celebration will take place today in “his” Hitzing villa. On sale are second hand clothes and great vintage pieces, record rarities and, fittingly, funky tunes by in-house Brick-5 DJs. Inside tip: The enchanted Turnhalle-garden and the rooftop terrace up at the loft are opened as well! Esmeraldas Taxi
After Silent Cooking it’s now time for Silent Music to create some symbolic boom boom! Today, the native trio “Esmeraldas Taxi” with singer Astrid Walenta is enriching this Sunday’s fine chill-out music event “Silent Music” at Augarten. And when she sings her own songs as well as re-arranged Caterina Valente-chansons (the similarity in name cannot be a coincidence! ;-) it will definitely bring a smile to your face. „Komm ein bisschen nach Italien“ (Come to Italy for a while) is one lyric, for example. A few sample recordings are right here. More wonderful folk-, pop and jazz music tonight.

Ladies-Day at Schloss Neugebäude
You’ll cry tears of joy and tears of sorrow. The former because you can now watch stars and films in one of Vienna’s most romantic cinemas. And that most comfortably on cozy couches with fresh pop-corn and cool drinks in your hand. For Ladies Day today, there’s a free glass of champagne for girls, 2€ discount on the ticket and the witty-French relationship-tomfoolery “Plötzlich Papa!” In the event of rain there’s a mobile roof. But now the sad part: This is passionate owners Angela and Franz Kascha’s very last season (only until 3.9.). Non-existing funding and support are to blame.
