"Heya Girls!"
Jesus! Such a mega move can only be managed with a lot of passion! After all, it was about heaving Ottakringer Glasfabrik’s 3000 sqm vintage-interieur-treasure chest to a new location. The feat seems successful, for this Saturday the legendary nostalgia-biotope for furniture and interior accessories is opening its doors again behind Westbahnhof. The former ÖBB printing house offers lots of space: “Glass fabricants” Christoph and Marcus Matschnig & Simon Weber-Unger can now distribute their treasures, ranging from early baroque to the 1980s, on 2000 sqm on three floors. The ground floor is dedicated to the “industrial style”, the first floor is home to couches, smaller furniture and old oil paintings radiating vintage flair, and on the second floor they have created a “travel department” with old suitcases, ship’s furniture, and historical knick-knack, which was inspired by the real train station atmosphere plus audible announcements from the train station next door. Urgent browsing alert!

Wishing you a neat week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

Evening of Dinky Delights
Yes, bit by bit, you may start with the Christmas shopping! For instance today in Hollandstraße, where nine special guests offer their goods at the store of designer Silvia Gattin. You can shop for incredibly fluffy cashmere trousers by Caleo Cashmere, charming stationery stuff by Carissimo Letterpress, fantastically beautiful, golden ornament-earrings by Eambrandis Jewellery, or spacious Rumpel bags. And ethno-fashion and home accessories by the polyglot host, obviously. To accompany the whole thing, Prosecco is flowing and nice music is playing, very relaxed!

 Le Creuset
Le Creuset
Heavyweights can hardly be prettier than this! The cast-iron cookware of the company Le Creuset from northern France can be put directly on the laid table thanks to its beautiful colours and shapes. But its quality is also convincing. Why is CitySpotterGirl telling you this? Today, the first Austrian brand shop of the company opens in the city, where you can also find water kettles, stoneware pottery, and silicone accessories, apart from the known roasting pans. On the opening day, you may also try Creuset-roasted food, and if you shop for over 50 Euros, you get a mini-cocotte as a gift. Oh là là!

Definite feel-good programme with a hefty dose of glitter, glamour & humour in a cosy bar! So it’s off the couch and off to the Felixx, where “Herrliche Damen” make sure everyone is in high spirits today with a travesty-revue. The fantastic costumes, refined hair creations, and exclusive feather arrangements alone are a big hit, and the choreographies make every female dancing gal turn green with envy ;-) The show programme with live-singing includes musical highlights from “Chicago” to “Hairspray”, internationally popular tunes, and disco hits from the 70s. Super!

 Répertoire
5 Years Répertoire Party
Happy Birthday! The treasure trove for original (Thonet bracelets), weird (fly brooches), and pretty (CitySpotterGirl’s books) things has existed for five years, always lovingly selected by the two owners. That’s why they are having a party tonight in Otto-Bauer-Gasse, with cocktails and musical entertainment. And so that fans and party guests get something out of the birthday as well: apart from the now legendary auction of certain special products from the Répertoire’s assortment, there will be a Répertoire-bingo – affectionately referred to as “Ringo” – for the first time.

Lokvogel
The suspense is growing! Taubenkogel is taking a trip to Vienna once again and opens a pop-up restaurant for gourmets today! While things were pretty pompous at the Post Palais a year ago, this time it’s going to be a pretty casual affair and quite New York style. Because Barbara Eselböck and Alain Weissgerber are settling in the old tram depot at Meidling until 22 December. They serve two different menus, making a reservation is mandatory. But: at the bar and the Würstelstand (yes, they have that, too, this year!) you can simply drop by. Culinary highlights are guaranteed, taubenkogel-style!

ReiseSalon – Travel Fair
When the November mist comes down on the city, you may experience some wanderlust. A practical remedy is offered in the form of the Travel Fair Reisesalon in Schönbrunn. More than 100 exhibitors present the most diverse destinations there this weekend. What’s special about this is that, aside from information and consulting, they also have a cool framework programme, from lectures, culinary samples, and dance performances to free workshops like sushi making or learning Dutch. And in the Virtual Reality Corner, you may take off to New York, Rio, or Paris!

 Lalish Theaterlabor
European Theatre Night
Esteemed theatre fans, there is much on the repertoire today! Because in the course of the “European Theatre Night”, numerous stages can be visited for a voluntary donation. In Vienna, these are many fascinating off-stages in particular – from “brut” in the first district to Lalish Theaterlabor in the Währing suburbs. Plus, you can also get a whiff of stage air yourself, like during a “Impromime”-workshop at Ottakringer Brunnenpassage. And the Kosmos-Theater has an Open Day, from 15:00 today already, at 20:00 they show the ecstatic-matriarchal cosmology “Mütter”.

Big Vintage Flea Market
This weekend, the indoor flea market at the Ottakringer Kunsttankstelle is the no. 1 destination for secondhand-goods-gatherers. Among the used-article-shops, grandma stalls, vintage-freak-collection, and great finds from the 1950s to the 1990s, you’ll find small pieces of furniture, shrill fashion, tableware, records, and all sorts of stuff that makes life more beautiful. Including pretty strange things à la “Lounge Chair with integrated (hairdresser’s) dryer”. To each their own ;-) Culinary happiness is promised in the form of a “70s-buffet-on a spit”, and you can also treat yourself to a lil glass of liqueur.

Fesch’Markt
It goes without saying that Fesch’Markt will be quite fetching once more! After all, it serves as a platform and matchmaking place for like-minded folks who will be bustling about, happily united, at the Ottakringer Brewery for three days. More than 200 (young) designers, artists and small-scale manufacturers present the results of their creative effort: flashy individual items from unusual T-shirts and beauty stuff to accessories and design clutter. Affordable yet still really special! Plus: gastro stalls and original workshops like “Knitted Bangles” or “Terrazzo Coasters”.

 Wiener Eislauf-Verein
Kirtag am Eis
Now, CitySpotterGirl always eyes with a bit of envy those ice dance couples whirling around the ice rink so elegantly and seemingly at zero risk of slipping. At today’s “Kirtag am Eis” (already existed in the 1920s!), though, they are not ice dancing but round dancing – with the gigantic advantage that round dance is practiced on amateur-level and not competitively like ice dance. That’s why today’s event at the Wiener Eislauf-Verein resembles a ball, and the ladies may also allow unknown gentlemen to ask them to dance ;-) Dress code is Tracht and there’s pretzels and weisswurst for refreshment!

Brazilian Cultural Festival
Now that November is showing its greyish-grey side, some hot, colourful Brazilian flair feels really good! At Weltmuseum, a three-day festival is being celebrated right now that strives to illustrate the wealth of the Brazilian cultural heritage – including dancing, a capoeira workshop, concerts, readings, and talks. On today’s (last) day of the festival, the program starts off with Brazilian instrumental music, afterwards you can watch Brazilian animated films. Then things get whirly-colourful once more with a “Carnaval no Museu” and a Samba class performance.

Omas gegen Rechts: Café + Resistance
Great initiative by a group of ladies 50+: for months, “Omas gegen Rechts” have been campaigning for democratic values, human rights, and our welfare- and constitutional state (currently undergoing degradation). In the course of the Vienna Art Week, they open an “Omas-Café” at MuseumsQuartier, where different events take place. Today, they start their week of protest “Resistance in Paradise” with a noisy, scratching, and screeching caterwauling and nagging choir protest march through the entire MQ. At night, the grandmas talk about their experiences at the café. More events here!

Orange Wine Festival
For the not-so-vinophile folks: Orange Wine is made from white, natural grapes. Just like with red wine production, they are processed through prolonged contact with grape skins, from which they get their gorgeous colours ranging from orange to amber. And the wines are produced unfiltered and without chemical additives, yeasts, enzymes or added sugar. Today at MuseumsQuartier, 65 winemakers present more than 200 Orange Wines – most of them from Austria and Slovenia, but there are some from other countries as well. And for the first time, there will be a tasting of red Orange Wine as well!

Recognising Fake News
They used to be called canards and usually happened rather by accident, today “fake news” are spread on purpose and are used for political or entrepreneurial reasons. In the age of electronic media, it is difficult even for professionals to determine whether a story can be trusted or not. Today’s workshop by management consultant Karin Christina Gerbrich is about recognising published falsehoods for what they are, what differentiates them from “satire” or “hoaxes” and she will also outline the legal framework.

 Doris Breuer
Im Blick – la femme
Beautiful pictures, interesting technique: Doris Breuer’s works combine oil painting and felt art. From today, they can be admired at the women’s centre “Soul Sisters”. For her series “la femme”, the artist has dealt extensively with the topic of femininity. According to her, she has tried to express in her pictures the power, the femininity, gracefulness and the focus for what matters that us women possess. Today’s vernissage will be accompanied musically by Serge Labat and his sitar, and they also have Christmas punch and cookies!

When this scantily dressed lady is stretching lasciviously in a champagne glass, it’s not for erotic animation, mind you. Nevertheless, the show is only from 16 ;-) The US-American dancer and actress Dita von Teese is without a doubt the biggest star of the so-called “New Burlesque”, an artful and glamorous form of erotic dance that came to life in the USA during the 1930s. Before someone imagines girlies dancing – no, stop! This is about edible chickens that will be prepared as of now at a chicken snack stall deluxe in front of the Supersense. Chicken fans can also look forward to a complete beak-to-tail cooking: they make a felonious egg grog from the eggs and every last bit of gristle, meat and offals is put into a huge stock pot, best immune system boost! Fetching, bright, modern – and Oriental cuisine on the plates. Yonny Cohen, born in Tel Aviv before he came to Vienna with his parents in the 1990s, has been inspired by his homeland’s cuisine to open this really nice venue. Situated at the new Hauptbahnhof quarter, you can have lunch here, drink coffee or homemade lemonades, and hang out (sometimes with a DJ, too) after work. The menu was created by an Israeli top chef, the setting was designed by the well-known architect Tzou Lubroth. And Oriental gulash, Shakshouka and the vegan Laffa are really delicious.
