"Heya Girls!"
Entering the Augarten will be strictly forbidden for bulls and clumsy oafs this weekend! Vienna’s oldest baroque garden will turn into a china shop. In front of and within the Palais Augarten, the home of Europe’s second eldest china manufactory, 50 national and international exhibitors and artists will gather on the occasion of the ceramic market and show their elegant, funny or unusual beauties. It is quite likely that you won’t find the usual mugs, cups and plates but precious table decoration, floral vases made from Limoges porcelain, objects designed in Japanese Raku technique and smoke-fired pottery. Particularly beautiful: Gilded pieces by Marianne Seiz and ravishing porcelain dames by Bibi Beranek. After all the browsing and shopping you can take guided tours through and participate in workshops at the china manufactory. And on Saturday, an expert will evaluate the worth of Viennese china brought along directly on site!

Wishing you a delicate week

 SIGH
Kladderadatsch Night Flea Market
What a nice name! The CitySpotterGirl loves those old words ;-) And today, the name says it all: At Tapete Bar, 15 exhibitors offer vintage goods, clothes and all kinds of stuff – in German called Kladderadatsch. The exhibitors of the “unmitigated shambles” are mostly individuals, but you will also find SIGH, the label of Nadine Werjant, and City Crime there. The graphic designer will present her gorgeous new collection of shirts, notebooks and porcelain. A special treat: You can shop until 2:00 in the morning at the bar! By the way, on the web portal you will find more flea markets taking place this weekend!

Mel Verez
Some of you might know the summer hit “You can always go back” from the radio. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter Mel Verez is kind of a shooting star of the Austrian soul scene and impressed with her distinctive voice when performing at the Life Ball just like in far-off China. At the tender age of 12 she already started to write songs and to compose for guitar and piano. Up to today, about 150 songs come from her pen. With her power, the young singer takes the public along from the first song and enchants with emotional song texts, a strong voice and humour. Tonight live at Schwarzberg; listen to her here.

Breast Health Information Day
A more serious topic: Today everything will be about breast health since one in eight Austrian women is confronted with breast cancer in the course of her life. The University Women’s Hospital has organised an information event on this subject: Doctors will talk about correct prevention, psychologists about concomitant therapies and researchers about current findings. The importance of complementary medicine in cancer treatment will also be presented. Very practice-oriented and helpful for everyone, no matter if you are interested, affected or a relative! Grab your best friend and get information (for free!) – questions welcome!

 Christian Ariel Heredia
Smokey Hugs and Cappuccino
The smoke of a cigarette, a half-full cup of cappuccino and, in the background, the whirring of a fan at the ceiling of a shabby café. The city in the dark and yet in the light. The roaring red of a dress, the dragging noise of shoes on the battered dance floor... What kind of dance might this all be about? In her terrific work, Argentine choreographer Gisela Elisa Heredia focuses on the most famous dance of her home country: tango. Situation, intention and impact of an embrace are the centre of a poetical, gripping and expressive evening full of dance, hugs and passion. Stunningly beautiful!

Moreover she sews cloth shopping bags which you can roll up into small bundles. This afternoon, you can shop the stanzimade pieces in the beautiful Servitenviertel where a pop-up sale will take place at “Verstrickt und Zugenäht”, Irene Herbert’s shop for sewing supplies. Sample Sale at Batliner
Did you know that fish leather is seven times more tearproof than calf leather and was already used 5000 years ago? In that case you are as surprised as the CitySpotterGirl! For her label, designer Katherine Baltliner uses fish and calf leather to create bags and purses. And they are really chic, spacious, puristic single-coloured and suitable for day-to-day use, extremely durable and with surprising colour explosions on the inside. The best opportunity for buying those special pieces: the two-day sample sale during which sample pieces will be reduced by up to 70%! You will find a few exclusive bargains as well ;-)

Book Flea Market of the Central Library
About 1 million books can be borrowed at the 39 branches of the Public Library Vienna, and new editions are added constantly. It seems just logical that it is necessary to make room in the shelves from time to time! Today you can buy discarded books of all genres – from picture volumes to mystery novels – at a low price at the traditional and really huge book flea market with thousands of books on the roofed square in front of the Central Library. Peace Tram
“Why don’t we do it on the road?” With their song of the same name, the Beatles provided the motto for today’s peace mission around the Ring Road. For the third time, the peace tram promotes peace with an entertaining mixture of live music, performances, theatre, clowns and lectures. The tram stops at nine stations around the Ring Road and you can always hop on or off. You just need to catch it. Therefore: The peace ride starts at 15:00 at the station Kärntner Ring/Oper on the street side of the Hotel Bristol. The first act will be the Viennese singer-songwriter duo “Bis eine heult”. Open Temple Day
There are several Buddhist centres in Vienna, but normally you do not notice much of them. Today, however, they open their doors and allow an exciting visit to the Buddhist community: With meditations and presentations as well as specials such as chanting Tara mantras, a workshop on attentiveness or an instruction on how to play Tibetan ritual instruments. Moreover, a book flea market will take place at the Buddhist centre at Fleischmarkt (a building definitely worth seeing!). By the way, you can read a fascinating interview with one of the first female Buddhist priests worldwide by the CitySpotterGirl here.

Dresses & drinks for a good cause: Tonight, the American Women Association (AWA) invites to a charity evening. The proceeds will go to the Viennese women’s shelters. Almost all pieces are second-hand but of high quality and quite luxurious. A few brand-new pieces will also be auctioned. Combining Berlin bluntness and indie pop is a particular talent of “Von wegen Lisbeth”, and enjoying the unusual a fundamental need of this group. Get back your lust for life!
Sometimes life does not go according to plan. Strokes of fate, alterations of their living situation or separations can force women to change their lifestyle. Therefore, the association “Frauen beraten Frauen” (“Women counsel women”) will start a psychotherapeutic year group today: Every second Tuesday, it will offer a space to process possible disappointments, develop new perspectives and rediscover the buried lust for life. The group will be lead by two female psychotherapists. If you want to participate, a preliminary consultation will be necessary.

Shunga. Erotic Art from Japan
When the first of their kind were created in the 17th and 18th century, they were probably perceived as pornography. Now they have become part of art history: With their seemingly relaxed attitude to nudity and sexuality, East Asian Shungas (spring pictures) convey freer sexual morals than we have been brought up with in Europe. The exhibition will start today at the MAK and show the artistic quality of these explicit erotic coloured woodcuts which became a mass phenomenon in spite of their long prohibition by Japan’s government. Contemporary nude photographs will build a bridge to the present.

She combines creative input and expertise in a practice-orientated workshop. It does not matter if you are in a practice, an office or your own flat: The atmosphere of the room is decisive for our well-being and our ability to concentrate. Since specific illumination situations of the participants will be analysed, you should send her a picture or a drawing of the respective room beforehand. A History of Nannerl Mozart
Not Wolferl but Nannerl will be the centre of tonight’s Mozart event. In her solo performance which generated great international attention, Sylvia Milo from New York tells the “true” story of Mozart’s sister. She too was a wunderkind, a keyboard virtuosa and a composer who back then performed as successful as her brother all across Europe. Her history and works fell into oblivion in the course of time and will be brought back to life in this piece in an impressive, touching and humorous way. By the way, the performance will take place at one of the original locations, at Mozart’s house and will be in English!

My gosh, it’s buzzing! Although still in the soft-opening phase, the Iki is already so crowded in the late morning that you can hardly see the reduced furniture with a Japanese touch. No wonder: The team of Mochi, the city’s best (and still most hip) Japanese restaurant assisted as adviser and has definitively left its mark on the big “Japanese Canteen” at Erste Campus. At least ten cooks are working in the open kitchen and deliver (in Mochi quality!) Donburi, soups, Bento boxes and incredible spicy rolls. It tastes excellent – the new railway station quarter has its first outstanding restaurant!
