"Heya Girls!"
This has never been seen in Vienna before, but it's really about time! With “Kismet and Masen”, a true Turkish-Viennese folk opera comedy will be performed from 7 June. And in the open air at Viennese markets and squares, at that. The plot: a Turkish-Austrian love story in Favoriten, in which the contrasts between a Turkish hairdresser's daughter (who wants to become an opera singer) and the son of a right-wing member of the Nationalrat (who drives his mother up the wall with his songs) could hardly be greater. The play also features evil real estate sharks, Turkish playboys and lots of crooks. Sound-whiz Heinz Ditsch from the “Kollegium Kalksburg” composed the music, the lyrics are by Standard author Antonio Fian, the Turkish lyrics by Hasan Öksüz. And at the end of the musical comedy there is a happy ending in love, the bad guys get their just punishment and the wicked characters are helped to their deserved failure. Oh, if only things were like that in real life ;-)

Wishing you a funny week,

Garden Days at Klosterneuburg Abbey
A tip for friends of green stuff, just outside the city gates: for centuries, the convent garden of Klosterneuburg Abbey not accessible to visitors, has served the Augustinian canons as a place of meditation and relaxation. In the Biedermeier period, the architect Josef Kornhäusel created the Orangery in this “secret garden” – a small palm house that has long been considered a classicist jewel. In this romantic setting, a sea of flowers awaits your garden paradise at home for 4 days: roses, cacti, herbs – from altogether over 30 exhibitors. Besides plants you get a lot of information. With free entry!

 Sacher
Sacher Pop-Up World
There are so many stories about Anna Sacher! Like this one, for example: Since women were not allowed to shop alone around 1900, she remedied the situation with an underground secret passage from the Sacher to the fashion shop next door. As of today, you can dive deep into the exciting world of the Sacher in a pop-up museum above the Sacher Eck: historical items and originals that have never been on public display before have been brought out of the vaults. You can walk from 1832, when Franz Sacher invented the Sacher Torte, to the modern luxury hotel of today – accompanied by the former hotel manager Anna Sacher via audio guide.

Entrance Sacher Eck, Kärntner Straße, 1010 Vienna. Until 30 June Mon-Sun 10:00 to 18:00. 10 €. Web

Mujeres del alma mía
“What us women want”. This is what five exceptional female artists from the Iberian Peninsula know and are currently showing at the MAM gallery. So if you missed the Open Days of the Viennese art marketers last week, just stroll through the new exhibition now, which is bursting with women's power. At Paloma Navares, powerful “Flores A Rwanda” flourish in XXL format. With colleague Naia del Castillo, erotic soul photographs such as “Eritis Sicut Dei” flash up. Secret source of inspiration for all five: a book by woman connoisseur Isabel Allende. Cool!

Retro Sale The Bridge
There are women who collect shoes and there are women who collect handbags. The latter should stop by “Margaret Lederwaren” in the first district until Saturday, because they are making room for new collections there. This means: old things have to go, in this case many great pieces from the exclusive Italian label The Bridge from Florence. And at sensational bargain prices of up to minus 70%! They got everything from purses to saddle bags and clutches to trolleys. All in timeless, classic designs and in muted brown-olive tones.

Kerosin95 & Tony Renaissance
At Fem*Friday, only women will rock the stage of the Sargfabrik. CitySpotterGirl already applauds in advance! Today there are 2 super-class feminist music formations at the start. First, the fresh female rapper quartet Kerosin95 makes a socio-critical boom bap and trap ruckus and plays music with loud battle announcements against sexism. Then Tony Renaissance seduces us with his angelic voice and mystical sound collages, whisking us to queer, melancholic utopias. Both of these are quite a musical experience – and as an open-air concert.

This afternoon it will make a stop at Wieden in Operngasse, tomorrow from 10:00 to 13:00 at Hermann Leopoldi Park and at the Donaucity Church. Every bicycle will be inspected by experts, after which a service and some small repairs will be carried out on the spot – for instance, adjusting gears and brakes, checking wear parts and, if necessary, even the change of a tube. Better get there early, the demand is quite high!

Medieval Market and Knights’ Festival
Attention, damsel alert! In front of the idyllic backdrop of Liechtenstein Castle in Maria Enzersdorf, a large medieval market is taking place this weekend. So, grab your girlfriends or your own knight and look out for noble garments, decorative skins, leather and pottery! There will also be meat and drink on offer, including hearty knight's pans, “baked mice” and fresh elder juice “from Princess Elvira's garden”. Of course, as usual, you can get hold of the trendiest and freshest novelties in fashion, design, cosmetics, jewellery and food here. Herbststraße: “Waitingroom”
Embroidered portraits, crazy textile overthrows – all this and much more awaits fans of fashion and stitch art in the new exhibition “Waitingroom”. Once again, students from Herbststrasse are showing their artistic work and skills. CitySpotterGirl fell in love right away with the 4th year's work entitled “BioDystopia”, which combines individual pieces by Luise Böker, Amina Elscheich & co. But she would also hang up the threaded “Reflection” by Esmé Chan or the “Sleep Series” by Natalia Freddio in the editorial office right away. Super creative show!

Songs about Places: The Stieglitzhouse
How cool is that! The theatre and performance collective bum bum pieces addresses the issue of demolition policy. And on such a clever and emotional level that it totally warms your heart. Their “Songs about Places” are dedicated to three Viennese houses that will soon no longer exist. Tonight it is “Das Stieglitzhaus”, which is staged musically and theatrically in the course of a touching farewell evening. It has been a general store since 1880, has stored many memories, has seen people come and go, has stories to tell. City explorers will hear a few of them today.

Die Gewehre der Frau Kathrin Angerer
Every shot a bull's eye! Firstly, super-cool theatre hotshot René Pollesch honours the Wiener Festwochen. Then the designated director of the Berlin Volksbühne also brings a new play that could easily pass for a theatrical dance film. It’s called “Die Gewehre der Frau Kathrin Angerer”. And it’s precisely she who appears not only in the title, but – superbly and live – on stage. To describe the production as “high-paced” is an understatement. Plus, the borderline brilliant The Wooster Group stages Bertolt Brecht's The Mother at the MQ today. Festival Weeks stress!

Yoga in the Secret Garden
Schönbrunn is still a surprisingly tourist-free zone. But this yoga course takes place in a completely hidden corner of the palace park anyway. In an area screened off by hedges next to Landtmann's Jausenstation, they are practising yoga every Tuesday evening. Besides classical asanas, the focus is on posture exercises. Fresh air and birdsong are included, as are visits from squirrels. Outdoor yoga offers twofold and threefold benefits to the body – stress levels are reduced, the metabolism is stimulated and the mind smiles. All yoga levels are welcome!

H. C. Artmann on his 100th birthday
Today we have a birthday serenade, so to speak, for the unforgotten Dada poet and dialect revolutionary Hans Carl Artmann. He was an office clerk, a shoemaker, was imprisoned for 12 years as a two-time deserter before he was taken prisoner by the Americans in 1945. Fortunately for posterity, he began writing from then on! “Warm greetings from the end of the world!” is written on a card to his friend Fritz Hochwälder, which can be seen along with 50 other exhibits in the new exhibition at Rathaus. Today is the online vernissage with Erwin Steinhauer!

Austrian Brand Stories
Everyone knows them! And starting today, the designforum at the MQ is taking a look behind the scenes of many successful Austrian brands. Whether Aida, Almdudler, Riess or Vöslauer: in the new exhibition you will learn the stories of their foundings, of key moments and current challenges, stories about people and families, designers and design. As we all know, brands play a decisive role in shaping our cultural environment. They are a component of the everyday aesthetics we perceive – and they create cultural and national identity in the long term.

Now first of all, CitySpotterGirl has to rave about the interior. Floor-to-ceiling windows, walls painted in soft pistachio green, velvet-covered chairs, beautiful tiled floor and, as a highlight, a hand-blown paravent by Robert Comploj in pink and purple – Paul&Vitos really looks damn nice! And it's a mixture of café and restaurant, so you can pop in all day for a drink or a bite to eat. Important to know: the portions are quite small, so if you're hungry you will have to order several of them. What a cosmopolitan place to hang out in!
