"Heya Girls!"
Sometimes life is strange. So, I’m innocently strolling through the city – and suddenly I’m in Africa! And that in the middle of Vienna, close to the Pilgrambrücke. There, the dedicated head of Radia Afrika TV, Alexis Nshimyimana Neuberg, opened the wonderfully colorful AfriPoint. His goal: to make Africa and the African sense of life more visible – through concerts, movie nights, dancing and drumming workshops, talks and of course also by selling African products. The fashion and accessory label time4africa moved into the big and light-flooded AfriPoint as well and brought fashion made of vibrant African fabrics, jewelry and even a perfume which smells fiery like the Monduli Hills in Tanzania. You can also buy African natural cosmetics, Moringa tea to strengthen your immune system and “Baola” with baobab & guarana instead of Coca Cola. So: go there, check it out and welcome a piece of Africa into your life. It’s definitely cold enough for it right now!
Wishing you a colorful week

Paper Theater
Oh yes, it’s true, the CitySpotterGirl has her own theater. A paper theater ;-) Something that used to be a civil affair from the Biedermeier era: theater-loving families back then used to make sets and figurines out of construction paper and use them to reenact theater plays and operas. Seriously fascinating how they managed to bring “the boards that mean the world” to their own living room! From today on, the Theatermuseum is showing a selection of its delightful and delicate paper theater collection and performances are part of the program as well.
Theatermuseum, Lobkowitzplatz 2, 1010 Vienna. Until March 20. Daily except Tue 10:00 to 18:00. 8 €. Web

eigensinnig Archive Sale
Very avant-garde, very cool: the eigensinnig is definitely one of the best concept stores of the city. Usually there isn’t anything on sale ever. But after more than 4 years the time has finally come: single pieces of the past few seasons that haven’t found a new owner yet have been adding up at the eigensinnig. And that is why for once from today on until Saturday you get 50% off of pieces of past collections and also designers for women and men that are not in stock anymore. Winter clothes as well as summer clothes, jackets, coats, t-shirts, dresses, leather boots, bags. Attention: not at the shop, but at the archive!

End-of-the-year review 2016
In time for the end of the year, Emperor Robert Palfrader and his two satire coregents Thomas Maurer and Florian Scheuba are providing laughing-lovers with a Best-of of Austrian scurrilities and political scandals. And their verdicts are harsh, but fair! Among different topics they will be talking about (one day before the election) how they brought about the result of the election of the Federal President and that they will run for the second highest position in Austria – which is the ORF General Director. An end-of-the-year review with depth. Super funny!

Schwesterherz – the girls’ flea market
>Look at that! The “Schwesterherz” (sisters) flea markets for (big) girls are a trend from Germany and have been happening in many Austrian cities, but not yet in Vienna. But now the time has come: this afternoon you can get all kinds of girly stuff and clothes at the MQ. Sold at lovely decorated stands accompanied by fine DJ sounds are many pretty things that other girls threw out of their closets. Also bits and pieces like jewelry, hand-made stuff or books that want to meet a new nightstand. Just to let you know: there are no more tables available to sell your own things!

Oh yes, this is what Advent is about: because of the lively Christmas market hustle and bustle you can also shop on Sunday! Today 19 designers from Vienna and the surrounding areas are coming together at the Kunsttanksstelle in Ottakring and offering all kinds of cool stuff: living accessories from Prater&Stern, fabric envelopes made of cotton from Brigitte Biskup or unique hand-made ceramic pieces from Justine Wohlmuth. Something soothing for your soul for the 2nd Sunday in Advent: a song evening with the loveliest melodies from composer George Gershwin! His songs are being performed at the Theater Drachengasse by the Swiss singers Anja Haeseli and Gabriela Ryffel and the Viennese pianist Ronald Sedlaczek. After the sold out concerts at the beginning of the year and the guest appearances in Zurich, Lucerne and Linz they are once again back on stage in Vienna and they will definitely turn it into an evening full of heart, wit and charm. Wonderfully relaxing!

Photography at the Brillantengrund
The retro hotel at the Brillantengrund is a place full of Wes Anderson charm and it tells a lot of stories. The noisy and silent photographs exhibited there from today on also tell many stories: for the forth time local and also internationally renowned photographers are providing some of their works for the annual benefit exhibition during the Advent time. It is a pleasantly unpretentious presentation of pictures by Daniel Gebhart de Koekkoek, Stefanie Moshammer or Hanna Putz. By the way, the entire proceeds from all the pictures sold go to the women’s integration project PROSA.

Ronja and Zoe
There is no reason to make bad Pop music” says Pavel Shalman, violinist of Living Transit. Especially not when you have so much power behind your music like the band around lead singer Ronja. Today at the Sargfabrik she will be sharing the stage with our sweet Song Contest candidate Zoe for the very first time. The six musicians ingeniously mix Pop, Funk, Soul and Jazz into “Dynamic Soul”. The unusual cast of singer, violin, cello, bass, piano and drums is serving cool sounds and funky grooves. And Zoe finishes it off with delicate French pop mixed with Electro swing, also awesome!

Packpony
The trend of adorning one’s back with cool pouches and back-bags is still alive – and now there is even a shop only dedicated to indie backpacks. As a former art director, owner Stefanie Haller has always had a weakness for design – and for pretty, unusual backpacks. And now she proudly presents her small shop with two walls full of high quality and super nice designs mainly from small European manufacturers – ranging from the Bavarian “Hanserer” made of tent fabric to the chic Polish bag with contrast cord. Good to know: prices start at 60 Euros. Cool!

Mir
Yes, this is a nice place to sit! And even though there is definitely no lack of original restaurants in the Freihausviertel there really was a need for this one. Lots of space, exquisitely lovely furniture with petrol-colored walls and a general feel of the furniture design of the sixties, incredibly friendly service – and above all fine food. You can taste the origins of the owner family: in between international foods there are quite a few Oriental-Turkish dishes as well. Lamb stew with mint (Yummy!), bulgur pockets, tabulé. And an affordable set meal for lunch. So nice!
