"Heya Girls!"
Last week I presented “Baden im Land um Wien”, not only a travel guide for bathing beauties and summer vacationists, but basically the most important book for this summer. Conveniently, summer really did arrive in Vienna right away ;-) And now the essential question is: What to wear? In order for a woman to cut a fine figure in the open-air swimming pool, at the village pond or on the sun deck of a pleasure boat, two really cool pop-up stores are opening this week. In the “Sustainable Austrian Swimwear Pop Up Store” you can discover the current collections of the Viennese labels Margaret and Hermione, We Are Flowergirls and RENDL. What they have in common is not only beautiful swimwear but the focus on sustainability and fair production. And just in time for the start of summer, the Japanese cult label Guacamole is also bringing its stylish swimwear to Vienna for the first time. Even Japan's most famous comedian likes the brightly coloured pieces. Well then, let's get splashing!

Wishing you a hot week,
Your CitySpotterGirl

 S. Kreuzberger
Summer Sale at Susa Kreuzberger
Good news for fashionistas who currently have “saving” scribbled on the top of their list: Austro-designer Susa Kreuzberger is hosting a sale starting today with the words “Don't biedermeier me” and is offering up to 50 percent off previous collections. The pieces from her current collection are 10 percent off. The sophisticated outfits are well worth seeing, all of them are handmade unique items and reduced to the essentials. As always, there’s a lot of black and white, but also little pastel flashes in the colours of turquoise and lilac.

 Tim Sandow
Tim Sandow
A car dealer in a 1950s rock'n'roll costume or a woman with a child surrounded by huge apartment blocks on the outskirts of a big city: Tim Sandow's works always show whimsical figures in enigmatic settings. Quiet moments, detached from the everyday – in unusual, sometimes alienating depictions, the artist romanticises his tragic protagonists in unobserved moments. Sandow comes from Germany and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His latest works and paintings can now be seen at the MUSA, with free admission.

Pierrot Lunaire
A commedia dell'arte figure – naïve, curious, eccentric, lonely – staggers through a kaleidoscopic variety of sounds between speech and song, intimacy and expressivity, comedy and tragedy. Arnold Schönberg called his 1912 setting of poems from Albert Giraud's cycle Pierrot lunaire a melodrama. At the invitation of the Festwochen, the exceptional choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas, creator of overwhelming images, has now staged the work – and has transformed this iconic work of modernism into a visual adventure.

Hollywood in Vienna
As Vienna insiders, we all know this, of course: Vienna is the perfect film set. But it’s still astonishing how close the connection is to Hollywood. The afternoon tour takes us from the Ring to Sunset Boulevard, where we meet Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Marlene Dietrich on a search for traces of the last century. Whether as a film location or the birthplace of many a career – Vienna has a lot to tell about film. For example, what King Kong has to do with the second district. Or that the film music of Casablanca comes from Praterstraße!

One is one of the most sought-after mezzo-sopranos in the world, the other plays at the Theater in der Josefstadt. But tonight, the two ladies do what they really feel like doing: Angelika Kirchschlager and Sona MacDonald's programme takes them to the heart of New York – right into the dazzling world of Broadway. With a wide selection of songs and duets, they recall the most successful Broadway performances of all time. “New York, New York” can be heard as well as “All that Jazz” and “I Dreamed a Dream”. Pump up the Beach
Working out right next to the water has a big advantage: water cools the air and makes the workout more pleasant. On the banks of the Danube, there is now a free (!) group workout every Sunday until the end of August, including natural cooling with the fitness studio “John Reed Fitness”. At the Vienna City Beach Club you can wear yourself out for an hour, strengthening your back, dancing Zumba or working on your sexy bum with a booty workout. Afterwards, you can either jump straight into the Danube or slouch in a deck chair. Registration is essential.

Construction Gap Concert EsRap
Rap the social gap(s)! They are not only siblings, but also the best-known socially critical guest worker children duo in the rap business. Esra and Enes Özmen from Ottakring make political hip hop and deal in their mixed German-Turkish lyrics with questions of identity, being foreign in one's own country and also being a woman in the male-dominated hip hop world. Their mixture of classic hip hop beats and arabesque, meaning Turkish-oriental music, is exciting. Today you can hear them at the construction gap in Nordwestbahnstraße.

And that is precisely the aim of the politically, socially and globally engaged short film festival zeitimpuls. Nearly 140 short films from over 60 countries amaze, amuse, move to tears and offer much more than an answer. And they do so both in the schikaneder cinema and online. In addition to the films, there will be talks with filmmakers from all over the world every evening and the zeitimpuls Awards Show on 26 June.

 S. Mouratidou
Textile Art
Sawatou Mouratidou found her love of wool in the small Greek mountain village where she grew up. In her late thirties, she studied textile design in the USA and moved to Vienna, where she creates sculptures, jewellery and fashion accessories from wool. On the occasion of her participation at the Textile Art Fair in Berlin, which this year, though, takes place exclusively online, the artworks of Sawatou Mouratidou and Susanne Weber are currently on display in Vienna. Mouratidou artistically explores the aspects of being human. Weber shows poetic paintings made of fibres and wool.

Give away garden party
Who's got something to give away? Into the backpack with it and off to the Cobenzl! There, club SOL hosts a garden party  today with a sustainable add-on: everybody can bring items that they would like to pass on to others. The only requirement is that they are usable, clean and functional. If you want to bring more than will fit in one bag, you should reserve a table. All that is left over is donated to a Kost Nix shop. Everyone should bring their own barbecue and drinks, rubber boots are available for a game of farmer's golf on the nearby meadow ;-) Wonderful idea, easily executed!

Salut Salon
A visit from Hamburg – and a rather humorous one at that! The four ladies, all classical musicians, make chamber music. And compose chansons. They are also masters of jazz, puppetry, pop and instrumental acrobatics, so there's never a dull moment with these ladies. With their new show “The Magic of Dreaming” they are giving a guest performance in Vienna today. After all, music is full of dreams. Whether Tchaikovsky's Winter Daydreams or Hedwig's theme from the film music of Harry Potter – the four musicians conjure and enchant, play and sing, rap and tap dance.
